GMC Goes Down

Ankle injury?

Ankle injury?

At the Bucs-Jags practices in Jacksonville this morning, Bucs stud defensive tackle Gerald McCoy went down with what appears to be a right ankle injury.

BSPN is broadcasting live from the practices and showed GMC on the ground. He was very slow to get up and trainers hovered over him for assistance.

He visibly limped off the field and paced back and forth favoring his right foot. He had his helmet off.

Initially, he tried jogging as if he was efforting to get back on the practice field. That didn’t last long.

Sal Paolantonio, working the sidelines for the four-letter, attempted to approach GMC to get to the bottom of the injury but he was rebuffed by GMC.

BSPN speculated that GMC’s day is done. It speculated GMC had a twisted or rolled ankle.

UPDATE 12:13 p.m.:

Per ESPN’s Josina Anderson, GMC’s injury appears minor.

UPDATE 11:26 a.m.: Later, SalPal said GMC’s ankle was rolled by a Jags offensive guard. Bucs’ staffers took away GMC’s helmet so he couldn’t get back on the practice field.

Not good. Cue the soft as tissue crowd.

Get better GMC we gonna need you this season!

  2. tmaxcon Says:

wow! I would have never expected an injury from such a durable player. good luck 93 get well soon.

  3. GilArciaBUCS Says:

Hopefully it’s nothing serious. I need my 10+ sack prediction to remain alive and well.

  4. The Buc Realist Says:

Unnamed “Sources” said the GMC93 was still “leading” from the training room though!!!!!!!

    Also,
Seems like the so called strength of DT on this roster still has a major weakness!!!! (injuries)

  5. Pickgrin Says:

It doesn’t sound that serious and the regular season doesn’t start for 3 weeks.

    Probably no big deal.

  6. LUVMYBUCS Says:

    unbelievable

    lol

  7. jimmy Says:

Softie just wanted an extra day off after coaches wouldn’t give him a veterans day today.

  8. Dewey Selmon Says:

That’s what happens when you have mornings practices Dirk! lol. jk

  9. LUVMYBUCS Says:

    He should be good.
We’ll at least the other tackles can get some more reps

    example:

    Defense Tackles
    • Cliff Matthews – 6-4 | 268 (27) South Carolina
    • A.J. Francis – 6-5 | 330 (26) Maryland

actually there is a killer Superman Collectors edition on auction today on ebay. he wanted to make sure he had his priorities right therefore he had to be showered and ready to win the comic book auction. Since he is a leader in his comic of the month club we would not want him letting his teammates down or setting a bad example for other readers. Oh and it’s free book marker this Saturday for all new registrants. It’s just practice yall..

  11. Buc1987 Says:

    Phew!

    They almost lost their leader.

  12. DB55 Says:

I’m just here so I don’t get fined.

  13. D-Rome Says:

Bucs’ staffers took away GMC’s helmet so he couldn’t get back on the practice field.

I am really alarmed at the vitriol by some of you. Whatever happened to wishing a person a speedy recovery?

Think about that last sentence by Joe I quoted above. Staffers have to take away his helmet to ensure he doesn’t go back out there injured. It should go to show you guys GMC has always been willing to play hurt and injured. Yet, the slack jawed mouth breathers around here continue to s–t on the guy for no good reason as if he stole your girlfriend from you or something like that.

  14. BucTrooper Says:

Awesome… GMC has his excuse for another mediocre year all set. “Well, I never really recovered from that ankle injury….”

  15. tmaxcon Says:

    D-Rome

lighten up Frances… no one is making fun of your often injured bromance. The problem is not that he is willing to play hurt the problem is he is always having to play hurt. no one wishes any ill will on gmc but to deny he is not always nursing something is ridiculous. poking a little fun at the overused leadership BS with gmc is not vitro hate…. I recommend day time drinking every now and then it will help with the anxiety.

  16. The Real Malloy Says:

Rest up GMC. And to all you window licking trolls, I hope you get hit by a car today.

  17. Joe Says:

    window licking trolls

Joe’s going to steal that! LOL 🙂

  18. BucGator Says:

Thank you D-Rome and Malloy for saying what most Buc fans don’t post.

  19. Walter Says:

You’re all a bunch of asses. For real, finding joy in someone else getting hurt. What quality people you are.

  20. Buc4lyfe79 Says:

Everybody here talking sh!t about #93, I would like to see have their ankles rolled over by a 300+ pounder…99% of u would cry like lil b!tches. GO BUCS!!!

  21. joeblockedlme Says:

    Not surprised!

  22. 207BucsFan Says:

Update!!! GMC just got his ankle tapped and no further actions taken.

You are only upset because this proves that you are wrong because McCoy has not shown anything and that you are not fair in your comparisons to other players.

  24. pick6 Says:

wow, let’s all pile on GMC because a 330 pound dude put his full weight on his ankle in a random mishap. maybe he should keep risking aggravation in a relatively meaningless scrimmage to prove he’s tough and whatnot

  25. Dooshlarue Says:

    Tmax.
Thanks for doing all the heavy lifting! I don’t feel like typing.

    Lighten up Frances, nice.

  26. Tampabaybucfan Says:

    Speaking for Pablo

“Pablo fell off a Pasco County roof one day…..twisted Pablo’s ankle…..Pablo was table dancing the same night…….Herald will be OK…..Hay Hayes will have him up an running soon”

  27. 813bucboi Says:

get well soon gmc….getting rolled up on or spraining an ankle can linger….I wouldn’t play him Saturday…no need to…we know what he can do…GO BUCS!!!

  28. buccfan305 Says:

    @DB55

    LMFAO!!!!

  29. DallasBuc Says:

    Leading from behind

  30. BigHogHaynes Says:

Rest up GMC, we can now give our Big Mac Defensive Front more work: AJ Frances and The Kitchen Sink!

  31. Mike Johnson Says:

GMC will be fine. Minor injury. These things happen. You/me/they..had better hope this injury is minor….

  32. James Walker Says:

It happens. He doesn’t really need to go until last preseason game anyway.

  33. Buccfan37 Says:

I thought it was lighten up Francis.

  34. BringBucsBack Says:

Tmax, congrats, someone had to say it. “Lighten up Francis”-a classic.

Hope it doesn’t linger; ankle sprains can change everything. Still hampered by my sprain in 1989 in a b-ball game and the dude was not 3 + bills.

  35. tmaxcon Says:

Thanks for pointing frances type o

  36. Buccfan37 Says:

I wonder if that expression came from Francis the Talking Mule back mid last century.

  37. BigMacAttack Says:

It will hurt worse tomorrow. They always do. He needs listen to his trainers and stay off of it until it heals, hopefully soon.

  38. DaRealistBucFan Says:

Calm down y’all he rolled his ankle it happens. A few days with an ice pack on it and he will be fine.
