Browns-Bucs Practices Will Be Dialed Back

August 21st, 2016

Ahh, welcome to late August, when NFL teams are banged up before a meaningful snap has been taken.

The Bucs are in that boat. Gerald McCoy had a tiny ankle tweak Thursday. Doug Martin’s ribs aren’t perfect. Charles Sims missed the preseason opener with an ankle twist. Cameron Brate and Keith Tandy got their brains scrambled last night, and wide receiver hopeful Evan Spencer has a new injury. Linebacker Daryl Smith hasn’t practiced in more than a week.

And that’s just the stuff Bucs fans know about.

This week, the Bucs will have two joint practices at One Buc Palace prior to Friday night’s Preseason Game 3 against the Browns at the upgraded Stadium on Dale Mabry Highway. Moments ago, Dirk Koetter said those practices will be scaled back because the teams are banged up.

That likely translates to fewer bone-crunching reps against the guys in the orange helmets, but it still should be a hell of a lot of fun for the fans who come out Wednesday at 9:45 a.m.

I guess we still don’t know about Sweezy lol

They already don’t go live as it is. Are they going to put on flags?

Rest assured that the walking wounded are spread throughout the league with every manner of dings to be concerned about. It’s not like we really know the extent, severity or recovery time needed to play of any of these injured players. Kept mostly hushed.

    @Hawaiian Buc

Even that is too dangerous!!! And it is Hot outside so they will just play Madden on xbox!!! just to be extra safe!!!!!

When I get bummed out about the Bucs I play two songs to lift my spirits, “Higher and Higher,” by Jackie Wilson and “Jackie Wilson said” by Van Morrison. Both on Youtube, great songs to get cheered up.

Their are other teams with more wounded and more serious than the Bucs..ACL injuries all over the league..so I happy Koetter has kept our men pretty much high end injury free..

He has to scale it back. He is scared Super Hero does not have enough sense to realize this is the NFL not FSU. So he has to slow it down to get Jameis to learn that. If not he will be the next on the list of the injured.

  9. Doctor Stroud Says:

Don’t forget one key injury: Aguayo is suffering from propioception and must be put on IR immediately.

Hopefully we see a little more game planning this week. I would like to see V-Jax get in on the action before the fourth preseason game, which is usually the most boring professional football game you could ever watch. This weeks game should show the fans how ready this team is for Atlanta.

Actually he needs to protect jameis since the bucs do not have a capable backup. It’s a shame the legendary 8 has not shown more against lesser talent. Such a proven backup should be lighting up the scrubs he is facing not just playing adequate.

  12. Danr Says:

Only as good as the routes run by back up wrs.

jameis has to start better….0for6 3for10 aint going to cut it in this league…even if its preseason….GO BUCS!!!!
