The Bucs were back on the practice field today. Phase 3 of OTAs kicked off. Above, Gerald McCoy and new defensive end talk Robert Ayers talked tactics.

Head coach Dirk Koetter tipped a cap to his defensive capitalizing on offensive mistakes this afternoon.

Koetter liked picks by Kwon Alexander and Brent Grimes.

Those were underwear football highlights after two hours of drills, and various offense-versus-defense work.

“It’s a long way till September 11,” Koetter said, referring to opening day.

Koetter said he’s trying to manage the tempo and keep guys healthy during the no-pads, no-contact practices. But Koetter said he still wants players going hard and definitely not worrying about getting hurt.

Koetter emphasized that it’s too early to be pumped up and sustain that emotion through opening day. But emphasized his bar is very high. “I promise you I have high expectations,” Koetter said.

Stick with Joe through the afternoon for plenty from One Buc Palace, America’s Quarterback, Jameis Winston, is scheduled to address media.

Glad there are high expectations, need to add high-accountability along with that…!

  2. Defense Rules Says:

Robert Ayers is apparently no small guy (6’3″ and 275 lbs) but in that photo he looks small compared to GMC.

  3. SB with Jameis Says:

So who threw the Picks? JW or MG? Were they good throws or bad?

You can just about bet if it was Glennon they would have been the first words typed.

Grimes been standing out since his arrival. Koetter seems to say his name after every session.

I sure hope it wasn’t Winston throwing INTs. He had a lot of those in camp last year, you know.😀

I like the way this year we have some new players with something to prove who will bring some ‘tude to the team.

Brent Grimes may be the top of that list. Wants to show he’s not old, people have written him off too soon and he wants to show the Dolphins.

Spence wants to show the Bucs were right in giving him a great second chance at this career dreams. He’ll be fired up.

Kwon is still hacked over his four game suspension….he wants to make up for that mistake.

    This team is definitely “youngry”.

McCoy looks ready for a bigggggg year

  9. NonyaDamnBucsiness Says:

    @Walter,

Yeah he’s looking a little heavier this year. Honestly? I’m glad. I think he played better with a little extra weight. Coach My Scheme had these guys almost too thin. Them big guys need a little extra for the energy reserve needs late in a game. McCoy was getting too worn out late in games the past two years. Probably from getting pushed around by heavier Olinemen all game.

Coach my scheme seriously???? You gotta come up here using that dumb crap? You don’t have your own imagination to come up with your own name? He’s gone why can’t you fools give it a break?

  11. SOEbuc Says:

Grimes makes me so happy at the top of the list teaching VH3

  12. DemBoyzFromDaBay727 Says:

    Your right @davidbigbucsfan,

I’ve come up with my own name… I call him coach “my way or the highway”
