America’s Kicker?

May 6th, 2016
Aguayomedia1

Joe’s never seen such a media scrum for a kicker, especially one without an NFL kick.

Pretty stunning scene today at One Buc Palace.

The Bucs’ second-round pick who is the talk of the nation, kicker Roberto Aguayo, was stretching and doing a little light punting on a side field — where dozens of media watched intently.

Basically, they were watching Aguayo do nothing — underwear football at a May minicamp. And, well, he’s a kicker. Kickers always do very little at practice that looks like football.

Joe didn’t watch much of a Aguayo. What’s to watch? Wake Joe when Aguayo lines up for his first preseason field goal. That might have a shred of intrigue.

Until then, Aguayo is nothing more than a fantastic center of debate for Bucs fans.

Was he really worth a third- and fourth-round draft pick? Oh, the chatter will rage on for a long time.

After practice, the media throng for Aguayo had a real buzz to it. Only America’s Quarterback, Jameis Winston, pulls that kind of energy.

Joe snapped the photo of the scrum (above) standing on a chair — for a kicker. Unbelievable.

America’s kicker………GTFO with that nonsense. It’s bad enough you keep sullying Jameis with that crap moniker.

  2. Leonard Scarnesi Says:

JOE doesn’t ‘get’ things. Poor JOE!

  3. Erik with Clean Athletics Says:

Was he worth drafting a few slots ahead of where we were going to draft him anyway and trading our bonus 4th rd pick for to guarantee that we get who we want for our 3rd draft pick? I’d say absolutely.

  4. Big Irish Says:

The kick is up…..it’s goooood! Robertooooooo!!!

  5. Tampabaybucfan Says:

    Speaking for Pablo

“Pateador de los Estados Unidos” Pablo salutes Hason and the Hoes and “Quarteback de los Estados Unidos” Hamus……….we could also call Roberto Aguayo….
    “Pablo’s Kicker”…

  6. I know why Says:

I just hope it’s not “buccaneers bust”. I wonder if we miss Robinson and lovie with decision making?

  7. Mr. T Says:

    Tampabaybucfan

The Pablo series has run its course, there are a lot of new posters here that don’t even know who he was. Let him retire to his hacienda por favor.

  8. SB with Jameis Says:

Um……..With all due respect Mr. T……This site will Die with Pablo. You should prolly just get used to it. Or don’t read his posts.

  9. Couch Fan Says:

Even if Koeter and Licht fail, I will NEVER miss Lovies decision making. Not sure how anyone could.

  10. BucTrooper Says:

People questioned the Ali Marpet pick. All these haters will be saying how they always supported Licht in about 2 years.

  11. buc89 Says:

TBBF, I love that you’re still speaking for Pablo. Don’t stop, Pablo deserves a voice too

  12. Bucs Fan Since '76 Says:

  19. Strider ....Sec 147 Says:

They be like Pablo why do you know every bit%h that I Know.

  20. Stanglassman Says:

Was he really punting? If so that’s interesting. I’m just not sure because I didn’t hear that elsewhere and people often use the position and action punt and kick interchangeably when they shouldn’t. I’m not busting balls (pun intended) just clarity.

  21. BuccaneerBonzai Says:

    lol.

Pablo was a stupid gimmick of a commenter who was so bad he got banned from the website. It’s still a stupid gimmick.

    But…I just ignore them. 😉

  22. BuccaneerBonzai Says:

    @BucTrooper

    /signed.

  23. SB with Jameis Says:

Hmmmm. Interesting take from Bonzai. I remember the original Pablo and it was during the time this site was just taking off. I consider Pablo to be an integral part of the last 5 years here. However, I carry no ill-will to those that don’t.

  27. Buc1987 Says:

Yes Joe listen to JB and KevinM…. run your site how THEY want it!

Joe needs no sticking up for, but you two sound like complete a-holes.

Am I right? Is that what you are?

  28. Dave Says:

    LIGHTNING BABY!!!

And Pablo…. Do your thing, those who don’t like it, don’t read it… I don’t, but doesn’t mean you should stop.

  29. Dewey Selmon Says:

Right now it’s more of a freak show atmosphere, he will be America’s most scrutinized kicker.

  30. godzilla13 Says:

With all the talk about the assassins legend and why any team would use two premium draft picks to get him, the truth about how much of an impact a kicker of his caliber will have on game winning FG’s, extra points and the all important “mortor” kick-offs with the new rule change, gives the Buccaneers an advantage for years to come. By this time next year those draft picks will be an afterthought.

  31. PRBucFan Says:

is he worth swapping our third for their second (which they would have used on him anyways) and giving up our extra fourth?

    Yes.

  32. Spacebuc Says:

    Spot on Zilla!

IMO, this was the best pick of the draft.

    The kid is MONEY!

Crawl back under a rock, trolls!

  33. LongSeason Says:

Drafting a kicker in the second round let alone trading up with an extra pick to get him is not done in every draft. That makes this a splash pick. If Roberto Aguayo is a bust, then Jason will be hammered for the pick. If Roberto Aguayo is as good as we think he is, then this pick will be lauded for years to come. I believe it will be the latter.

As to Pablo, let Pablo speak through TampaBayBucFan Says. Every Pablo deserves a voice. I raise my buttered toast to Pablo.

  34. Jeagan1999 Says:

Let’s hope he is “Aguayo-matic” when it comes to game winning field goals!

    Roberto Aguayomatico?

Eh, someone might have to come up with a better nickname…..but for now, “Aguayomatico” will do.

Hey ’87, are you REALLY someone that can’t handle others opinions and has to resort to name? Joe constantly minimizes any credibility he may have with these ridiculous America’s ___________ monikers, that a 12 year old might try an put on a player. Are you 12 years old?
Childish and idiotic…..That’s what you look for in your coverage of the Bucs?

  36. Tampabaybucfan Says:

I appreciate being permitted to make Pablo posts and will continue.

I realize it may not appeal to everyone…..but then, who does?

  37. Willy D Buc Says:

I only come here to read Pablo’s comments.

  38. Drew Says:

    Pablo WTF are you?

  39. Howard Cosell Says:

Howard is definitely not a screaming liberal, but he does think that Pablo adds to the community and should be allowed to have his say. We need Pable to remind the Bucs not to neglect their Latin American fanbase.

Again it’s HIS website. You’re not his boss. Nobody is twisting your arm to come here and complain what content Joe puts on again, HIS website.

Where’s your point? You have none.

  41. Howard Cosell Says:

They patrolin’ trying to catch Joe ridin dirty.

  42. Mike Johnson Says:

Don’t miss kid. And work on your leg strength for those long field goals. Buc fans are cool..but they will turn on you like a rattlesnake!
