Jameis speaks at the Pro Bowl

Jameis talks to Joe at the Pro Bowl

America’s Quarterback, Jameis Winston, is planning some gentle recruiting at the Pro Bowl this week in Hawaii.

It’s not for potential free agents (that we know of); it’s for his left guard, Logan Mankins.

On Wednesday in Hawaii, Mankins talked to Joe about his ongoing consideration of retirement. Mankins’ uncertainty was no surprise to Jameis.

“Logan is, he going to do what he want to do. I’m just so thankful to him this last year, how much he helped us out, helped me out, not only as a football player but as a man,” Jameis said. “Hopefully, we can get him to come out one more time. Hopefully, he has a good time at the Pro Bowl, so I can tell him, ‘Man, you can just keep coming to Pro Bowls every year.’ Gotta get him a Super Bowl, though. That’s the main thing.”

Joe hopes Mankins returns to earn the $7 million due him for 2016. If he doesn’t, then at least Kevin Pamphile proved, for one game last season, that he can handle the position. That should provide a very mild level of comfort.

But if Mankins turns down the money and hangs it up, that would leave the Bucs with a lot more than the $50 million+ they’re projected to have available under the salary cap.

With that kind of cash, it would be nearly impossible to believe the Bucs would avoid bagging a premier free agent when the dinner bell rings in March.

Osemele from the Ravens would be a great pick up. Bucs oline probed last year that depth is key, keep Pamphile as a backup guard/tackle and go out and get a man beast. Only reason it didn’t work the last time was because Nicks had a career ending injury, freakish at that and not because he was a bust. As for Collins, pretty sure most of us were against that pick right off the rip, the guy played well in 16 games inf that and he got a monster deal.

If only Aaron Sears hadnt lost his mind.

I see where Richie Incognito is at the Pro Bowl. Was he an alternate or voted in ?

  4. HIRE JIMBO Says:

    Incognito is an alternate

Check in with Carl Nicks to see if his toe has healed and he’s gone broke…..

The article is titled, Gotta get him a Superbowl. You won’t get him one when the opposing QB has time to eat a BLT and gulp down a drink while going back to pass now will you? I can’t wait to see if our..so called new Defense is the answer. If not, I’m gonna be on Mr. Smith like..John Browns Ferry!!!

  7. FuNkYxMuNkEy Says:

Alex Boone would be a good pickup from San Fran.

  8. FuNkYxMuNkEy Says:

Also, with our 2nd round pick. There is a couple of guards that would be day 1 starters. Lots of wiggle room IF Manks were to leave. I personally think he plays one more season.

  9. MadMax Says:

Jake Brendel, ucla, #54….I want that kid even if Mankins comes back for one more.

  10. LargoBuc Says:

Mike John, one things for sure. Our defense was atrocious under Lovie. We sure hell wern’t going to win anything with him running the defense. If our defense is just average under Mike, it would be an improvement.
Now, if Mankins retires, Psmphile actually looked solid at guard. Not to mention Evan Smith is much better at guard than center. But Ali Marpet, that guys a beast. He playes harder than Pamphille and Smith.

  11. Mike Johnson Says:

LARGOBUC..any Defense is lousy when you do not draft defensive players.

We know Mike, we know. Guess what? We know. You wanted to keep Lovie, we know. We also know that no matter who they chose to be DC you were going to be on him. Why? Because you have this thing for Lovie. I could tell everyone why you have this thing for Lovie, but I think, we know.

Just one top notch Defensive End, I don’t care if it is in FA or the draft. PLEASE

  15. Buc1987 Says:

Any defense would be lousy if you bring in Jenkins, Jennings and Conte. Then let your son with no experience coach the secondary.

  16. Bucnut2 Says:

    JW looks fat!

  17. James Walker Says:

Wouldn’t EDS be a better left guard than Pamphile?

  18. James Walker Says:

I saw JW in Best Buy at Christmas and he looked to skinny to me. He looked fragile and taller than 6’4, I am 6’2 and he towered over me. Pictures can be deceiving.

  19. Buc1987 Says:

James…Bucnut2 has been saying Winston looks fat since BEFORE the 2015 draft. He’s also said much much more vile and incorrect things in the past as wello about Jameis. So consider the source.

On a lighter note. I was digging through the JBF archives again, found this little nugget and it made me smile. So far so good Couch. lol

“Since were saying crazy things then Winston will win more games in his first season than Mariota will win in his entire career.”

  20. Newbucsfan2 Says:

    How well said Jameis!

  21. Newbucsfan2 Says:

Super bowl!! You know that is what is driving JW …hope is catches through the whole team. Go bucs!!

  22. Newbucsfan2 Says:

Cam did it in five. JW does it in four or less! Super bowl bound…just saying:)!

  23. Buc1987 Says:

Newbucsfan2…Jameis WILL bring Tampa it’s 2nd Lombardi and in short order.

Look this one up in the archives 2 seasons from now.

    The prophet has spoken.

  24. Buc1987 Says:

The prophet wanted Jameis soooooooooo bad he raved, ranted, battled and clawed on JBF for over 4 months straight about him before the draft. I’ve been in love with Jameis since 2013. Well really not in love as I am married to a woman for the last 15 years. Plus I’m not gay. Infatuation is too small of a word though for Jameis and I. So I use love.lol

I used to wonder what it would be like if the Bucs had this kid on their team. I knew it was going to be a good thing. I’ve only waited for what over 25 years for this team to finally get a franchise QB. He’s here now though. We did get him.

Still to this day the thought of having him on our team, puts a smile on my face. Jameis WILL bring Tampa it’s 2nd Lombardi and SOON.

  25. Buc1987 Says:

Btw…the prophet was wrong about 3 things since finding JBF in early 2013.

    1. “Freeman is going to light up the field this season.” – 2013
    2. “Carl Nicks will be just fine.” – 2013
    3. “Lovie tanked half the season to get JW” -2014

  26. BuccaneerBonzai Says:

Kevin Pamphile could use another year of development…but then, maybe he’s further along than we know.

“But if Mankins turns down the money and hangs it up, that would leave the Bucs with a lot more than the $50 million+ they’re projected to have available under the salary cap.

That’s a lot of cash…but we also have some players to resign. Doug Martin, for one…although I would prefer to franchise tag him for a year…just to make him prove himself again.

You mean, outside of the MANY draft pick predictions? lol

Please, 87…we’re all wrong often here. No one is near perfect. You must be getting old like me if you can only remember 3 times. 😉

“You mean, outside of the MANY draft pick predictions? lol”

Which many draft pick predictions? YOU can’t find any. Seeing how I’ve only made 2 in the past 3 years. Jameis Winston and Mike Evans. That’s it. That’s all you’ll find. BTW Bonzai…you were the one that repeatedly told me that I was being foolish to think Lovie would draft Evans prior to the draft and I can find that one in the archives. You’re reasoning was that Lovie never drafted a 1st round WR while he coached the Bears. I scoffed at that repeatedly.

As far as everything I typed last night above us. Most of it was joking as I was pretty drunk and joking around about this prophet stuff. lol
