Lovie Haters Pining For Meltdown?

Lovie haters upset with wins?

Lovie haters upset with wins?

Bucs fans are upset the way the team is playing defensively. That is totally understandable.

Yes, the Bucs won Sunday. It was ugly, but it was a win, despite the defense redefining the word “sieve.”

Most Bucs fans are giddy that the team is really on the cusp of a wild card berth run. But Joe’s good friend, “The Big Dog,” Steve Duemig of WDAE-AM 620, believes there is an underground sect of fans, Bucs fans no less, upset by the victory in Atlanta.

Duemig is convinced there are Bucs fans out there so angered by Lovie that they believe the only way the franchise will rid themselves of Lovie is if Tampa Bay loses, and loses hard and often.

Take a listen to his monologue from yesterday, as Duemig explains how out of whack these fans are. Audio courtesy of Joe’s friends at WDAE-AM 620.

    …and that’s a bad thing?

  2. JollyBucsFan Says:

I was very VERY happy about the win, and I celebrated hardcore.

That doesnt mean I want Lovie as the coach of this team.

He needs to go, win or lose, we can make the playoffs and he still needs to go.

If the bucs make the playoffs its on Winstons back and the backs of the players ALONE.

Lovie IS dragging this team down and that is a fact. Tampa 2 needs to go. Lovie needs to go.

  3. sho nuff Says:

…if that guy feels like a winner to you…then your standards are beneath reality

  4. JollyBucsFan Says:

Then again now that I think about it… We tanked for Winston and that will help our franchise out for YEARS to come, tanking to get rid of lovie would put this franchise in literally an infinitely better place to succeed. I wouldnt be opposed to it

  5. tmaxcon Says:

It depends what you want long term for the bucs. I have never and never will wish for the bucs to lose that being said keeping Lovie past this season will set the team back 3 to 5 years. He has made way too many mistakes salary cap and free agent wise. We could have millions more of carry over cap money if he did not waste so much on injury has beens familiar with his system and just signed football players. Lovie has never won consistently and magically is not going to get it now in year 12. If you are bucs fan that is happy with 8-8 or 9-7 with the occasional 10-6 and ONE and DONE in the playoffs Lovie is your guy… If you are a bucs fan that wants your team to have a real chance at competing and challenging year in and year out for a division title and more than history PROVES Lovie is not the right guy for the job. I was all for the Lovie hire when the bucs signed him and bought all his learning from past mistakes in the basement speeches. However, it did not take long for me to realize that Lovie is the same old stubborn Lovie who is equally a control freak like schiano he just has a smile and a better temperament to go about it. Lovie’s only good season in Chicago he had NO control over roster and his stud defenders all had probowls before he even arrived in chicago. Once he gained control of roster like he has in Tampa now he struggled mightily. Just like he is struggling now. I don’t understand how anyone can say this team looks better or is turning the corner when they have yet to win back to back games much less put a mini win streak together. all wins are great but must be kept in perspective. Lovie and Jeff Fischer and the two most overrated coaches in NFL history. both have made it to a superbowl nearly decade plus ago and LOST…both have done nothing since yet get talked about like they are winners which they are not. again, if you are happy with a mediocre team with no real chance of competing lovie might be your guy if you want to win consistently lovie is not your guy and history proves it. We has bucs fans have seen far to many talented players leave this team because they did not fit or the bs character crap. Good coaches take advantage of players skills not force them into a system. LVD was once a potential perinaial pro bowler now he’s average to below average linebacker because of the system. players win championships not systems nor lovie smith. fire the fool…

“If the bucs make the playoffs its on Winstons back and the backs of the players ALONE.

Lovie IS dragging this team down and that is a fact. Tampa 2 needs to go. Lovie needs to go.”

I really can’t think of a dumber statement. So a coach isn’t given any credit for wins, but only blame for losses? In what messed up warped sense of reality do you live in? That is too ignorant – I can’t believe you are serious.

How do you know Lovie is dragging down this team? Are you at practice? Are you in the meeting rooms? Do you even watch the coach’s film? What exactly do you do for a living that enables you to make statements like that? Were you a NFL coach recently? I know, perhaps you owned a NFL team once before. That makes sense.

  7. The Buc Realist Says:

This is a fake story, name one coach in Tampa that has made the playoffs that the radio host has not called for his Job!!!

Do not be mad at the mob when, he was one of the ones that created this mindset of the mob years and years ago!!!

The latest offense said that he hopes that Coach Schiano never gets a job again!!!Real class act!!!!

  8. Hawaiian Buc Says:

I expect all the stupid people to come out in groves when we lose. I even expect them when we beat a bad team like Jacksonville. However, I would have thought they would take a week off after beating a 6-1 team in their house. Then again, I’ve always noticed that stupid people are usually the first to open their mouths.

Maybe Lovie isn’t the right coach for this team. But anyone with any kind of common sense knows that it’s still very early in his tenure. If we were 0-7, I’d be right there with you. Hell, had we lost to Atlanta I wouldn’t argue (since we had another huge lead). But we freaking won!!!! Just STFU for a week and enjoy it, and hope we can do it again! Over the last few years, this upcoming game is the one we always lose. Let’s see if this week is different.

  9. Newbucsfan Says:

We should watch closely how MM performs after a mid season hc change. I think Jameis’ continued development should be our first concern. Obviously he is progressing well, it would be unfortunate to unnessarily unsettle the cart. Just give him a full season of stability and then punt, if need be.

  10. celly Says:

    @Jolly…

So let me get this straight…If the team continues to do well, its because of Winston. If they do bad, its Lovie’s fault.

    gotcha.

  11. celly Says:

    @Hawaiian…

I’ve already seen people say that we won in spite of Lovie…

Haters gonna hate regardless of the outcome.

  12. Mike Johnson Says:

Titans fired Whisenhunt today. They played hard and still lost all games cept us. Lovie and his staff were caught sleeping and failed to do in game adjustments. However I would not fire Lovie..at least not just yet. I say he has one year after this to improve. This team is like Helter Skelter at the moment..You never know which Defense is showing up. When and IF..Lovie can get our D playing with any consistentcy. We are going to be tough to handle. And although I do not see us having a winning season this year, there is a chance for 8-8. I do know we will upset a few more teams on the schedule. Everybody is saying hire our O coordinator and fire Lovie. That’s straight up Bull. Give Lovie a little time. He’s gonna get this defense sailing right.

  13. DB55 Says:

Jameis will go 10-6 despite Lovie Smith and his merry men. 10 point lead with 6 mins left and you still can’t put it away. That’s just a shame and it falls squarely on Lovies shoulders.

  14. ndog Says:

Let’s see our offensive was horrible then for 2 years we drafted offense and now our offensive is good. And guess what we have a bunch of u drafted retreads on defense and we suck on that side of the ball. I mean you people got to be kidding me with this crap. Look at our dline, Smith undrafted, Spence 5th rounder, McCoy high pick average player, Johnson undrafted. Our corners Jenkins been cut by two teams, Jennings been cut by one team Banks drafted by us, now safeties, Conte cut by bears, Black cut by Bears , McDonald undrafted. Look at those players, WHAT DO YOU EXPECT WITH THEM ON THE FIELD?

  15. GhostofSchiano Says:

When Lovie took over the defense from Frazier, and brought in his Bears retreads, I knew the “D” was in real trouble. Never thought they would be this bad though. Perhaps we can advertise for a person to come in and teach proper ways to defend the slant pass as this play seems to mystify our CB’s. Also, maybe Lovie should hold open tryouts for anyone that can pressure the opposing quarterbacks. Ryan had all damn day in the pocket and nearly made us pay.

  16. D-Rome Says:

There was an idiot who called Rick and Tom a couple of days ago specifically stating he was hoping the Buccaneers would lose so that Lovie Smith would lose his job. He represents a lot of you out there.

  17. Bucs Fan Since '76 Says:

Why would anyone pine for losing? I’m sick of losing. I’ve said many times here that the Glazers are clueless, Lovie is doing a terrible job, and we need massive changes top to bottom if we expect to win again, but I’d much rather be wrong.

  18. tmaxcon Says:

    Celly

Koetter and his offense including winston are progressing nicely. each game they have showed growth…

On the other hand in year TWO of Lovies defense they have regressed and played worse. The defense did everything they could to blow that game against ATL… You cant think for a minute they played well enough to win that game if it was not for the gift turnovers and Kwon’s hustle play on his turnover. The meltdown against washington was one of the most embarrassing defensive performances in league history not just bucs history but league history. The defense can’t stop anyone and that is lovie’s specialty. he hand picked his players and they have all failed. He turned LVD into a sheep… Haters don’t hate they just see more clearly than the blind supporters.

So basically the offense is doing better because Koetter and yet we are supposed to be more patient with Lovie and his defense a year plus into it. If I had a dollar for every poster on this site that was convinced we’d have a top ten defense under lovie smith right away the day he was signed, I’d be retired.

  19. Supersam Says:

I’m always happy with a win, but I honestly am not a believer in Lovie Smiths coaching or his philosophy on defense. I for one would keep Keotter and Fire Lovie. The only way I would be ok with Lovie staying is if somehow he got Rod Marinelli back to run the defense.

  20. Love and Warrick Dunn Says:

” If you are bucs fan that is happy with 8-8 or 9-7 with the occasional 10-6 and ONE and DONE in the playoffs Lovie is your guy…”

Honestly, that’s been my biggest concern from the beginning. It doesn’t make him a bad coach, but, it all also doesn’t make him great.

Now, maybe he will be the stepping stone the team needs, get to .500 ball, and then bring in someone to finish the job.

I hope that’s wrong and we turn into a consistent 10-6, 11-5, 12-4 type team. However, history does not show that.

  21. "TheKevin" Says:

You’re all a whole bunch of idiots.

How dare lovie not fix every single hole on a bad team in 2 DRAFTS and picking up the best of the worst free agents.

You all just need to stfu. Saying even if they make the playoffs to still fire him.

Bet that trailer park is nice.

    Morons

  22. Tampabaybucfan Says:

I thought the taniking was over…..we did that last year….it’s time to win…..I don’t care if it saves Lovie or not…..just win every game you can and let the rest take care of itself.

How on earth can you be a fan and root for your team to lose….simply to get rid of a coach you don’t like…and I suspect you don’t like him because of his record so far.

Beat the Giants…..then on to the Cowgirls…..let’s do it.

  23. "TheKevin" Says:

Thank god none of you run a football team.

Acting like you all know something cause you watch ESPN and sit home all day.

Most of you don’t know sh it from shinola. Idiots

Finally someone is speaking the truth on this guy.

Cannot look a safety off. Makes horrible decisions.

But all you biased idiot morons swear he’s the next coming of Montana or manning.

You all are idiots. You all make yourselves look like complete morons.

It’s like you all started watching football yesterday because most of you know nothing except what ESPN tells you.

Go hang yourselves and stop breathing my air.

  25. BucsDeluge Says:

I think most of those silly, so called fans, Duemig was speaking of,spew their venom on this site daily. So many freaks looking for instant gratification. It takes time. I remember so many people saying it will be a 3-5 year process, BTW, that is normal. I remember watching our great players like; Lynch, Sapp, Brooks, and Barber, really suck it up until everyone gained their experience and clicked, and we enjoyed many years of success and pride. watching them grow made our Super Bowl win even sweeter. Thats what I want. I want a team with a culture, that will be around for years, while producing many more Tampa legends. Hey! all you miserable people; Take Aaron Rodgers advice, and RELAX!! Be patient, and support your team..(and coaches) GO BUCS!!!

  26. "TheKevin" Says:

Bucs fans. About as smart as a wet paper bag full of sh it.

settle down it’s almost nap time… maybe mommy will read you a story

  28. 1nebuc Says:

I believe lovie is a good man but that does not make you the correct choice for any job. That definitely has a part in getting the job but we all must be honest… “Results!!!!!#$$$” Thats what it really comes down too. I do believe our record will leave alot of us confused at the end of the season . Reason being, We will win 8 plus games because of the position our offense will put us in but i hope that does not over shadow Lovies control over the defense. Thats what will get him fired . The performance of the defense. He stepped out infront of the logo and said , “He will take over play calling for the defense this year ” and thats what will be judge when his job is discussed at the end of the season

  29. Bobby Says:

Give L&L time to address the defensive side of the ball in the draft. They did well with Kwon. Let them spend the next draft giving that side attention. It takes time to build a complete team This year he was just plugging holes with FA. I want to see what they can do with a couple more drafts. I like the direction we’re going. I’m in no hurry to fire Lovie even though I’m not sold on him yet either. I don’t judge someone harshly if they are showing steps in the right direction. I believe this team is making progress. It would be stupid to change coaches in the middle of progress.

  30. GhostofSchiano Says:

Let the Josh “Don’t call me” Shirley MOB run wild.

  31. "TheKevin" Says:

    @ Bobby

You can’t talk sense into a bunch of idiots.

Stop trying. These people are morons and think everything should be fixed in 2 drafts. Dudes had 2 drafts to fix a piss poor roster and these total buffoons think we should be playing in the super bowl already.

Just pathetic inept knowledge of football by these idiots.

  32. Johnny "America's Commenter" Dejay Says:

Better get used to Lovie. He’s patched up the leaky ship, bailed out a lot of the water from the bilge, and put her on the right course. He’s going to be here a very long time.

As Ric Flair once said, “Whether you like me, or whether you hate me, you’d better learn to love me, because I’m the best … thing … going … today … Woohoo!”

  33. Buccfan37 Says:

The talk is moving in Lovie’s direction, maybe 45% pro Lovie now. Confidence poll would be about split.

  34. dreambig Says:

Joe, I can take having your pages load slow because you have a lot of sponsors and they have to get their adds in. What I can not take is automatically being rerouted to the app store to buy some B.S simply because I clicked on one of your articals. That really feels like a cheap porn site out to rip people off. How about laying off that crap. If I want to go the app store, I will click to go there myself.

  35. dreambig Says:

In other words, I love your site but the reroute is starting to really piss me off.

  36. DB55 Says:

I just have one question, who is Smith and why is JW throwing him the ball?

  37. dreambig Says:

funny enought as soon as I hit send on that last comment I got rerouted to the app store to purchase “Dice Buddies” what ever the F%*k that is.

  38. Waterboy Says:

Agree with what ndog and Bobby said.

  39. LargoBuc Says:

We all wanted progress. Thats what we’ve gotten so far. You can pick on this and that but we are getting what we expected after the last two years. Its building. And yea our defense is bad. Lovie has done everything to help the offense, including bringing in Koetter. I dont care what sytem we use, when a majority of the starters are stop gap and few drafted to be long term, Kwon excluded, what do u expect?
Just give Lovie credit for a win, like we blame him for a loss. And give him credit for progress that we all demanded this summer. To not do so is ignorance at best.

  40. Tampa Tony Says:

Meh if you are ok with 5-18 and bad personnel choices keep him.

I’ll still watch every Sunday and hope the players can overcome his stupidity

  41. Bobby Says:

So you’re saying that 55% of these people are idiots!?!? I don’t think it’s that high! Plus you have to account for that fact that most of these idiots are using multiple accounts. There’s can’t be that many dumb people out there … RIGHT?!!?

  43. Tampa Tony Says:

@bobby- That’s Loser Lovies record as the Bucs coach

  44. rayjay1122 Says:

While I also am very happy that we won and I am so far impressed with the draft class, I am not impressed at all with the defensive system. I really do think there are some talented individuals on the defense but why we continuously allow so many yards and points to opposing offenses has to be on the coaching. Winston is really impressing me and I am happy that the offense did enough to win in spite of the injuries to the receiving corps. I wish Lovie was the answer for continuity and trust me, I really want the Bucs to be relevant again but to this point my free lunch prediction of 3-3 in the NFC South and 6-10 overall look like it could happen. The sad part is that Winston and the OL have been pretty solid other than in a couple of games. I think we may look back at the Redskins loss as well as the loss to the Texans and Browns and wonder to ourselves what could have been? I do not hate Smith as a human being but just do not believe he has the ability at this point to take us anywhere above 8-8 and that many wins only because Winston is the man. Nonetheless, I wish this team the best but have no expectations due to the poor defense which fall directly in Lovie’s lap. I was shocked that we beat the Falcons but it was a pleasant surprise. I want so badly to be excited about this team and want also to be proud to be a Bucs fan. So far, I am just mainly impressed with Winston’s progress and his staying out of trouble. I am also impressed with Ali Marpett and Kwon for our lone defensive pick has been solid in spurts. My heart goes out to him and his family and he definitely seemed to devote his play to his dearly departed brother. Maybe the team will rally around his loss for the season and come together. The championship Bucs had a collection of talent but the players were a true team and everyone took accountability and handled their individual assignments which formed a collective effort to win. I would love to see that again here with our Bucs. We are not out of it at 3-4 with a 2-1 division record but we have to finish strong. I wish these guys the best for the remainder of the season but I just can’t hold my breath that they will contend just yet.

  45. Tampa Tony Says:

Loser Lovie has won more at Ray Jay as a Bears coach than a Bucs coach!! Let that sink in…

However, win or lose…he needs to be held accountable as the head coach and defensive coordinator. If he can’t get this defense turned around a little bit, the Glazers and Licht should force him to hire a coordinator (who actually gets to call plays).

All that said, that win felt great…and I would never pull for this team to keep losing. Duemig talking out his a$$. Let me know when he’s paying for season tickets to sit and watch some of these garbage games.

Giants and Cowboys are totally beatable.

    Let them whine. Who cares.

  58. JAB83 Says:

Mc BUC, I agree, you have my word I will work on that….

  59. Dave Says:

Those are not fans. They are idiots who think they know better than successful NFL coaches and GM’s.
They desperately need defensive ends and a couple DBs.
If you listen to the players they all say the same thing, they respect Lovie as a man and a coach. The problem is talent at DE and DBs that get out of position, even after the coaches tell them over and over.
You can see this team coming together and hear them and listen to them, they respect their coaches. The issue is just talent level at a couple positions.

  60. JAB83 Says:

Eric, honestly, the only reason I care is this…

If you do nothing to stop a witch hunt…. Who is gonna stop them from hunting you???

Answer…. No one because they killed everyone not agreeing with them already….

Some concern for what Lovie is doing is healthy…. To say he is not doing anything good is rediculous…. Everyone would believe different if they look at what he has done with our O like they are looking at what he hasn’t with our D…

Two 1000 yard WRs last year… No OC no QB no OLine and a rookie TE and hurt Running back… Still managed franchise highs in many areas on O….

The D was the least of my worries when he got here… Now that the O looks as promising as it does…. I give him another TWO drafts to fix the D… If he does nothing I will light the touch and burn his contract extension up myself!!!,

    Simple as that…
    Really it is!!!

  61. Dave Says:

And can people stop complaint about the Tampa 2!!?!????!
You’re ignorant whenever you do. They run it a third of the time at best. They run variations off of it. A LOT of the teams in the nfl run the Tampa 2 about 25% of their snaps. It isn’t the defense or the coaches.
The issue is the talent at DB and DE.
I see DBs out of position and safeties not helping properly. Covering a slant is not difficult because the QB tips what it is. What they need is another free agent and draft period.
    Nothing more

jab83.. You’re extremely annoying. Get a job, hobby, girlfriend… Something to keep you busy. You spend way too much time posting stupid shi!.

  63. JAB83 Says:

One last thing and I MIGHT call it quits…. I am not on here looking for people to agree with me… As far as I know I am the only one pushing the idea of Lovie having change his style of coaching much like the Trolls and Fans of Depression on here like to claim he can’t….

All I want is what I had back in the day when I was going to every game and dressing up… A positive lively and Inspiring group of people to hang with on game days… People that don’t make fun of me for dressing up and telling me to shut up for cheering my team when we are losing…. This while they sit with BUCS gear on themselves… Truth be told that’s why I stopped going….

WE ARE THE 12TH MAN….. Trust me as much as we are on the field with them…. We are in that locker room too…. Our role is not to complain to loudly when things are bad…. But to show up when it matters most…. Fans of Inspiration bring a type of momentum that only THE 12TH MAN CAN CREATE!!!!!

RAYS UP, BE THE THUNDER AND SIEGE THE DAY!!!!!

  64. JAB83 Says:

    Dave, I agree completely

    And

Mania, what makes you think I am not doing my job and doing it extremely well!!!!

Have you noticed when I show up the Trolls and Fans of Depression go away!!!!!

Hmmmm, just applying some tactics…. But I won’t bother annoying you with the details…. Feel free to skip over my comments when you see my handle….

    Or stay annoyed your choice….

    Its
    As
    Simple as that….
    No…
    Really it is…

  65. JackinJersey Says:

I don’t know who this guy is, but it is painfully obvious that he had no clue about what the 2015 Tampa Bay Buccaneers are about.

  66. k1ngadroc Says:

CB, FS and DE and the Bucs are in business! too bad we let ….. go but we got Smith, Marpett, Kwon and Jameis out of sucking so bad last year!

I hope to GOD we get the RED jerseys back PLLLEEEAAASE!!!

  67. Dave Says:

Too many know it alls and so called experts on this site.
The Bucs could go on a long win streak and they would call for Lovie’s head.
I don’t agree with all of Lovie’s decisions and God Knows the defense needs a lot of help but I truly believe that will come.
This year was to protect Winston.
Next year is the defense’s turn.

  68. k1ngadroc Says:

BUCS need to name KWON CAPTAIN of this D

  69. Eric Says:

Well you have to remember a lot of bucs fans suffer from various mental disorders.

Lots of them couldn’t enjoy the super bowl win because “”Gruden won with Dungy’s team”

Then gleefully ran Chuckie out of town. Seemed to like people like Morris and Schiano.

Don’t get it, but they deserve our sympathy. Some sort of frontal lobe issue I’d guess.

I’m looking at two wins, 5-4 and in the thick of the wild card race.

    GO BUCS!!!!!!!!!!

  70. StPeteBucsFan Says:

I’m still where I was at the beginning of the year. I think this team has 8-8 talent given the schedule. Lovie needs to at least win six or he’s gone.

I’m not a big fan of football coaches. I think most are totally overrated. There are obviously a few who can win anywhere…they are in the minority. Even Belicheat hasn’t won without Brady.

And so no I do not expect Lovie to be the next coming of Don Shula, but I don’t think he’s the worst coach to ever walk the sideline.

Besides…HE WENT FOR IT ON FOURTH DOWN!!! EVEN AND OLD DOG CAN LEARN NEW TRICKS!!!

  71. StPeteBucsFan Says:

BTW In case you forgot to notice 10 of the 44 on Sunday were first year players.

The stars of the game were all rookies or second year guys.

Lovie haters may need to get their hate on early and often because this team has the look and feel of an improving squad. I love the character and attitude on this team. We are set at QB and MLB and another great draft to fill in the holes and we might have something.

  72. Palm Beach Pirate Says:

Wow… reading these comments is both frustrating and painful. It reminds me of January 2009 with fans calling for Gruden’s head. That worked out well didn’t it?

We need stability in the coaching staff and front office. Hoping Lovie fails is simply ridiculous! Enjoy the victory and watching the future of our franchise get a little better every week… Let’s beat the Giants!

  73. kh Says:

This past week’s performance won’t forgive the Redskins debacle. Lovie so clearly showed he is completely out of his depth coaching in the NFL I am convinced its a matter of when not if he will be fired. I won’t root for the Bucs to lose but the sooner we get there the better for Jameis in my opinion.

  74. Defense Rules Says:

For all of you so-called Bucs fans who want Lovie gone, I’d highly recommend that you stop and consider the alternatives. We had Jon Gruden, and lots of fans bitched and moaned because we weren’t getting back to the playoffs enough. So the Glazers dump Gruden, do a major sell-off, bring in Raheem and voila … we did even worse. So lots of fans bitched and moaned because we were losing and Raheem was too lax with the team. So the Glazers brought in Schiano to right the ship and voila … we did even worse. So lots of fans bitched and moaned because Schiano didn’t win enough and he was too tough and too Joe-college, so the Glazers brought in Lovie to right the ship again, and voila … last year we did even worse. Anyone see a trend here? Hint: Lots of fans bitching and moaning, lots of coaching turnover, and voila … lots of losing. (I might mention that the ownership stayed the same throughout each ship sinking, but I won’t).

Give Lovie credit for one thing at least: 2 straight drafts he’s gone whole-hog offense. Why? Because we sucked on offense. He’s tried to patch the defense for now with FAs, and it’s worked in a couple of places (interior DLine). But our DEs and secondary aren’t getting the job done right now, that’s obvious. Hopefully they improve as this year plays out, and hopefully L&L go heavy on defense this next draft, and again in the next draft. It’ll take several years to develop a top-notch offense and defense if we stick with Lovie. Dump him and it’ll take even longer.

  75. Dusthty Rhothdes Says:

Lovie is a terrible HC and got smoked by a coach whonwas fired, what is there to be positive about? 6-10 at best? Lovie has mismanaged personnel moves from the get… ppl are happy he went for it on 4th and failed… why didnt he go for La’el Collins at least that would have been positive but no he goes all in with chris conte, jennings, jenkins, johnsons, and other scrubs.. this team ia far from competing defensively and lovie does not deserve year 3

  76. Fsuking Says:

They fired him in Chicago after a 10-6 season for the same reasons he should be fired now, regardless of what happens. If we win the Super Bowl somehow, I still want a new head coach. A dominate defense is all we need to win a championship under Winston. Love will never coach one of those again. We need a new scheme. Then we can keep Verner and Banks and add a high pick at corner and have depth. Real depth. And not former pro bowlers, current ones!

  77. Buc1987 Says:

That’s just foolish talk. Where does BD come up with some of his nonsense? He must have went to the Jerry Springer School of Controversy.

I want Lovie fired badly, but I could never honestly root against the Bucs. Sure towards the end of last season I was joking putting down in here, Just Lose Baby after every post. But that was only because I had my eyes on the prize.

  78. Brent Says:

Eli is girding his loins. You know what he is about to do to this bucks secondary. Hide your children. Only hope is divine dials up a lot of blitzes. Our front four has gotten enough pressure.

  79. Hawaiian Buc Says:

” If we win the Super Bowl somehow, I still want a new head coach.”

    ——–

That’s it, I’m done. I can’t deal with this level of stupidity. You, my friend, are a freaking MORON!!!! God help your soul.

  80. Elle Says:

I said here on Joe that the Bucs wouldn’t have won again this season. I stand corrected and I GLADLY eat crow for that. Did I change my mind about Lovie Smith? No, not at all. He is still a terrible coach who has been surpassed by the game. His defense is laughable, he’s fixated on generating turnovers at all costs, while he should actually focus on finding ways to stop mediocre QBs who suddenly become superstars against the Bucs, or at least find a balance between the two aspects.

As much as I dislike Lovie Smith, I want this team to win and do well, therefore I’ll never hope, secretly or otherwise, to see MY team get embarrassed by the opposition.

  81. TAC Says:

    Hawaiian Buc

Agreed, I saw that, but it wasn’t worth a reply.

Some have no ability to compartmentalize, anything. That is the only ratonal explanation that can exist. It is either black or white, nothing else. Once they go into their one compartment of thought, that’s it.

I don’t really believe that would be the case for that buc fan in the future, but right now, he believes that kooky, stupid, and ignorant statement.

There are some who don’t even watch the games, you would have to get their wives who watch the game for them to get any sort of legit conversation out of them.

All this after a division win, Duemig is right. I don’t get the chance to hear him often, and he does play the devils advocate a lot, does spur some emotion, and appears to be doing well for his radio station. He definitely knocked this one out of the park with some truth. I can see why he hangs up on people so quick, lol.

  82. Matt Says:

I just don’t even understand how right before a play starts out guys aren’t even lined up properly with the guy they’re suppose too be covering . Like that play Matt Ryan threw an Int too Kwon in the end zone , well prior too that Atlanta had 3 WRs all on the right side and GN only had mike Jenkins and a safety in that side . Banks was on the other side . So the problem is why didn’t they shift banks over there . This is why we never have safety help is because our safety is always forced leaving his zone too come help with the wide open WR that isn’t being covered . These guys play cover two zone coverage right ? Well whether it’s man or zone after a play is over you gotta get up and get into coverage with you’re wr or man you’re covering . Don’t gotta stick him like glue , but you gotta know what side of the field he’s on at least . Smh . Chris conte helped a lost lb and it ended up making it look like banks was beaten badly by Julio . Mr Byrd is the DB coach what’s he doing? He should do something about it !!! All these defensive coaches and the problem still exists at mid season it’s amazing that it hasn’t been fixed yet.

“For all of you so-called Bucs fans who want Lovie gone”

I usually love your takes my friend, but I can’t except or read the rest of your post when you start it off with this line. I used to post that very line on here myself and learned the error of my ways. There’s 2 other people on here that say stuff like that all the time and it simply can’t be tolerated.

Use your noggin’ you’re a smart cookie, I’ve read several of your takes.

If we were so-called fans, do you think we would even bother coming to this site and making post after post on a daily basis? I mean not just me, but any of us. So called fans or bandwagon fans or fairweather fans wouldn’t even give this comment section their time in the day to post.

So I reject anyone’s notion that “some” of us are not “real” fans because we won’t cut Lovie some slack on that horrible defense he trots out every week.

“I’m still where I was at the beginning of the year. I think this team has 8-8 talent given the schedule. Lovie needs to at least win six or he’s gone.”

WRONG you said 10-6 and kept saying it repeatedly. People thought you were nuts for saying it. I of course already knew you were nuts just from the Winston vs Mariota pre-draft debates. lol It’s okay that you’re nuts. I’m an outright lunatic myself.

  86. Fsuking Says:

I’m sorry I’m not sorry. I hate Lovie and I want him gone. There’s nothing moronic about it. If we win a Super Bowl, it’s on Jameis, Dirk Kotter, Jason Licht and other stars overcoming the NFL’s worst defense. I’m not saying he would get fired if we won, but I’ve seen enough of the man. Let him go coach high school somewhere. Mr. Hawaiian Buc you can suck my bawls!

  87. Fsuking Says:

Thinking Lovie Smith is a good head coach for our team… Now that’s moronic! I actually did at the beginning of the year. Must have still been high on the Jameis pick? Idk there’s no explanation for that

  88. JAB83 Says:

Hey 87 you know how to spot a Troll??? His ego surpasses his logic and reason….

No one cares that you said this or that and have predicted nothing positive… Are you wanting a pat on the back for being such a Fan of Depression??? And of course SOME of the people that post here are not real fans… SOME people just like to express hate and cause division…

You are a cool poster when your not posting anything about what you predicted or how much Lovie stinks…. Or hi jacking the message boards asking for.medical advice… So really your not cool hardly ever…

That’s not being mean…. That’s being a realist…. And I honestly hate ragging on you but you persistence in.perpetuating a horrible understanding and perspective of the team is what you should be rejecting…. But don’t worry… I am picking off the trolls so you don’t have to be a Fan of Depression and get dragged down by them anymore…..

And if you have not noticed… A lot more Fans of Inspiration are showing up… Could just be that we won…. Or it could be people are adjusting their perspective….

Adjust yours like Lovie has adjusted his…. Think offense first and look at how much of a difference he has made… Including last year… You can’t tell me you don’t see improvement….

Be a Fan of Inspiration and believe with us OUT LOUD….

Lovie will coach his team to victory this week and the D will look much improved…..

31-17 BUCS win!!!! We shut them out with 5sacks or more and two or more turnovers….

Come just agree with me…. It CAN HAPPEN!!!!

  89. JAB83 Says:

See how this works 87.. You are on the same side as Sofa king we taught it who post just above my last post…. If I cared about that hsless hack of a troll I would work him over like I do you….

But if your seriously in the same boat as that SOME croud as we refer to them as and you don’t like….

So be it…. Its no wonder you come across the way you do SOMETIMES….

Just saying man… Jump off that boat… Its getting cannon balled by our cannons that happen to be longer and has bigger balls!!!

  90. MO_Downs Says:

The NY Giants put up 500 points against the Saints.
The Saints put up 510 points against the Giants.

We already beat the Saints this year, and since we love hindsight so much around here, compared to the Giants secondary, we shut Brees down.

That might inspire a little more hoopla from the “hindsight” crowd.

And, to add a little NEEDED perspective for the “#FIRELOVIE” crowd:

    * The Bucs have a better record, so far, than 11/32 teams in the
NFL. No BS “statistical twisting”, just the facts.

    * The Bucs would be the 2nd place team in the AFCS and NFCE.
    No “weasel-words”, just the FACTS..!!

ATC, pretty respectable for a rebuilding team.

    Don’t get it twisted.

    Now, a personal shout-out:

I miss Grantland. Great writing and no comment section.

ESPN sucks..for aiming so low..and cancelling Grantland..!!

The “Jalen & Jacoby” podcast was DABOMB..!!

  91. Defense Rules Says:

@Buc1987 … Some of the folks who post on websites like JBF really care about the Bucs and are die-hard fans; you’re one of them it’s easy to tell by what you consistently write. If you want Lovie gone, I have no problem with that and can respect it … because you care about the Bucs.

But some of the ‘fans’ who post on sites like JBF aren’t real Bucs fans at all, and that’s who I was calling ‘so-called fans’. For instance, anyone who’d write that they’d gladly see the Bucs lose every game for the rest of the season just so Lovie would get fired isn’t a true fan from my perspective.

Those were the fans that I was addressing with that ‘so-called fans’ handle. Same ones who called for Gruden’s head, Raheem’s head and Schiano’s head the first time we lost 2 games in a row. We can’t keep firing coaches every 2 years and expect to be a winning franchise.

I don’t know if Lovie is ‘the one’ or not at this point. Is he too conservative for my liking? Heck yes. Should he be calling the defensive plays? Heck no. But not because he’s not qualified, but rather because he’s a head coach, not a DC.

But I do know that our Bucs suffered through a number of really bad drafts and didn’t have a great base to build on when Lovie got here … offense or defense. He and Licht have now had 2 pretty good drafts (for a change), and most of the guys that they drafted a playing pretty well so far. I’m willing to be patient with Lovie and his coaching staff and his coaching philosophies … as long as I can see some improvement as the year goes on. Right now I’m seeing that from the offense and special teams; not-so-much from the defense. Hopefully the defense improves in this second half of the season.

  92. Old Bill Says:

I guess half of the buc fans want us to morph I to the browns, rotating through coaches every two years. Looks like that is working really well up in Cleveland.

  93. FortMyersDave Says:

Well said Defense Rules! Personally I think Lovie is a hyped up moron who has cost the Bucs somewhere between 5 and 7 games via his coaching ineptitude and/or tanking for Winston since he came on board as the Pirate Ship skipper but I definitely do not want to see the Bucs simply take aggravating L after ****ing L just to get the guy canned! To a real buc fan each bad loss hurts while each win; even the ugly ones like the Jag game make the next Monday much more bearable…. yeah some Buc fans were giddy as the bucs went for winston, intentionally losing to teams like the saints to get him, fine, i did not agree but I understood. Now there is no acceptable reason to be pulling for a Buc L if you are a true fan! However, on occasion I do think certain RADIO HOSTS in the Tampa media market do take delight when the Bucs get bent over via their own player’s and/or coaches’ ineptitude which has happened a lot since Chucky left….. Those specific people are not real Buc fans either IMHO, merely media hypes who realize they can get better ratings via insults and confrontations than having to keep the conversation lively when the Bucs are successful and every fan is content…. JMHO….

  94. uncle donny Says:

Some of your comments are beyond idiotic a lot of you people clearly don’t know anything about football if we change coaches now we’ll set this organization back at least 3 years very rare do a new coach come in and make an immediate playoff push although jets & falcons look good for now 49ers with Harbaugh again it’s rare I’ve been a buc fan my whole life we know our luck isn’t good let’s try and be patient Ray Jay wasn’t built in a day

  95. godzilla13 Says:

On the 4th and 1 play that we went for, I agree with Steve that Winston got the first down and that it was a terrible spot. Watch the replay. Watch the reverse angle. His knees never touched the ground. He extended his body and arms far enough to get the first down. Everyday it is the same people making the same comments. We need DE and a new secondary. We can’t cover slant routes. Lovie has to go and on and on and on. Lovie is not going anywhere, so get over it. We are not getting any help in the secondary either, so support your team. This team is going to end up 8-8 or 9-7.

  96. BuccaneerBonzai Says:
