Caught!

No wonder Lovie Smith was so in love with Jeff Demps last spring. Speed cost him again today.

No wonder Lovie Smith was so in love with Jeff Demps last spring. Speed cost him again today.

Speed is not the Bucs’ thing. It’s a recurring issue that’s very likely cost Tampa Bay games — two this year, including one today.

Here’s video of Mike Evans getting caught today from behind with just green grass between him and the end zone. And then there’s Charles Sims getting run down in the second half.

Doug Martin’s near miss in Washington a couple of weeks ago was a backbreaker.

Hell, Greg Schiano might still be head coach if Vincent Jackson didn’t get embarrassed on this 95-yard reception. (The Bucs couldn’t punch it in the end zone after this play.)

There’s a reason Lovie Smith is a huge scouting combine guy and believes in the underwear Olympics and loves fast players.

Winning and losing is a razor thin line in the NFL, and raw speed often is the difference.

You mean that the “Dunkaneers” project that lovie brought to the Buds is not working?????

  2. Buccfan37 Says:

The snail Bucs. The can’t win a foot race Bucs. The slow cooked Bucs. What else is new.

  3. Captain Crunch Says:

When was the last time the bucs actually had a speed guy?? I remember Phillip Bucannon had speed but he was a CB. On offense bucs have never had a speed guy, maybe they should sign Dri archer to a who got cut recently to a minimun deal and throw him some screens to see what he can do in the open field.

  4. Max Says:

the only speed guys we usually have are LBs and occasionally a safety. I’ve never seen us with a speedy RB or WR.

  5. Bob LoBla Says:

@Captain Crunch last speed guy was probably Galloway

  6. softastissueMcCoy93 Says:

@ CC have you forgotten Joey Gallaway? That dude had some wheels even for an old guy.

  7. Tampabaybucfan Says:

    We had Joey Galloway…..

Now….the fact that these guys are getting caught from behind is Lovie’s fault.

Get rid of Lovie and we’ll have new-found speed….

  8. rjblitz02 Says:

@Captain Crunch, plenty. Dye, Parrish, Holliday, Murphy, Demps.
As an effective player, though, probably Joey Galloway. Its been a while.

  9. Ray Rice Says:

Joey Galloway. Thomas Jones. Antonio Bryant. Etc..

  10. mike10 Says:

So why’d he turn down Devin Hester?

  11. BrianBucs Says:

Wasn’t Charles Sims suppose to be a 4.3 guy coming out of WVU?

Mike Evans snd Vincient Jackson run at the speed of mud

  12. Max Says:

We had Joey on the back end of his career. Antonio Bryant was not a speedster.

    Heres my two cents

Team is coming together, but we need cb’s, d linemen, and at least 2 wr’s and and another te, wrs like a julian edelman, maybe this kid from clemson can become that type of player and a game breaker with speed. trade for harvin

  14. jay Says:

We’ve had plenty of fast guys on offense but 97% of them suck. Galloway was the last great. Dex Jackson was a bust, Murphy is a 4.3 guy, most people we had Michael Bennett at RB from Minnesota who was a 4.2guy.

  15. Pasco Jim Says:

    dropped passes…DUMB PENALTIES….another Bucs loss
lovie need to be gone at end of season…
    it’s as simple as that.

  16. J.R. Says:

Losing sucks that’s for sure. clean up the penalties, get more receiver help and a pass rush and I think we’re on our way. Jameis looks like the real deal and this draft was pretty darn good. 4 starters and they all look like they’ll stick. Tampa 2 won’t work without pressure. Don’t blame lovie,it’s the d line fault right now. Qb pressure is a must if the Tampa 2 is to work. We need to get a top flite defensive end. Period.

  17. 1BucFanNsaintCountry Says:

Joey Galloway, warrick dunn, Michael Bennett(old Minnesota rb) Streeter but he never started Antonio Bryant ran a 4.4. Cadillac Williams ran a 4.4

  18. 1BucFanNsaintCountry Says:

Lovie did try to sign Hester but ATL paid him more

  19. dreambig Says:

Doesn’t matter how fast you are if you don’t catch the ball in the first place.
