Benched!

October 4th, 2015

GeorgeJohnsonLost in the today’s train-wreck showing by the Bucs was the benching of defensive end George Johnson.

Tampa Bay coughed up a fifth-round pick and paid Johnson about $3 million to start this season.

Joe was flabbergasted last week when Leslie Frazier said Johnson was having trouble playing so many snaps. So the guy was tired already?

Sackless Johnson didn’t start today and Joe doesn’t remember seeing him at all. Third-year man Will Gholston got the call. He batted down a Cam Newton first-down pass early in the game, had one tackle for loss and did some good things.

The rapid demise of Johnson is stunning. But Joe admires Lovie Smith not hesitating to play whoever he thinks is best. That appeared to be a recurring problem last season.

    hmmm sounds familiar

  2. bucrightoff Says:

    The Lions had a great line rotation last year from which he benefited. We have nothing close to it and he’s not a starter, he’s a situational pass rusher and nothing more. Certainly not a starter.

    Jameis Winston, “Ameruca”s Bust.” This loss is on no one else but Winston. 5 inforced TO’s.
    Why anyone listens tk Joe about anything is beyond me.
    Should have taken Mariotta.

  4. The Dom Must Go Says:

    Another player brought in by Lovie that sucks! Wtf ! Go back to your garage loser

  5. TheBucsAnthem Says:

    so they bring in:

    Kicker = total disaster

    DT = benched

    CB = benched

    something is definitely “rotten” going on in the coaching / bucs organization

  6. NJBucsFan Says:

    Sackless is a great adjective for this team.

  7. "TheKevin" Says:

    I wish the Bucs could be relegated down to second division so I don’t have to put up with this crap. Oh wait the other Glazer team has to live with that threat. Oh well. TV revenue comes in the same regardless. What a bunch of clowns.

    Yet another L&L personnel disaster.

  11. This Guy Right Here Says:

    Glazers shouldve never given Lovie personnel power… What a horrible talent evaluator… And an even worse HC…

    He Loses to Jax??? Thats his ass!

    WELCOME TO THE DOPE SHOW!

  13. Gooberville Says:

    Is this regime ever going to sign a free agent that pans out? This coupled with the embarrassing fact we can no longer win a home game ever is just ridiculous. I was all for keeping a head coach to help maintain continuity but all Lovie seems to be doing is showing our guys how to lose. Then again I’m not confident the owners know how to hire a good coach or GM. I would hire the highest recommended GM and let him hire everyone.

  14. sho-nuff Says:

    Same MO as father Dungy the most over rated coach in history…Had complete control over everybody….he only won at Indy because they told him he has NO say over the offense…period….Dungy and his “tree” are and always will be coordinators…Not head coaches

    @bucrightoff Says = “he’s a situational pass rusher and nothing more. Certainly not a starter.” You are dead on. He played passing downs in Detroit and he is terrible at stopping the run. He did play against some really good LT and I thought if he was to begin to perform it would be against Michael Oher. I guess Lovie didn’t look deeper into why maybe he was struggling?

    @Joe – William Gholston “did some good things?” Gholston has been the one bright spots on this defense so far this year. He has been dominating as he did again today. He is turning into a monster and needs a nickname? Terminator, Hit Man, Enforcer?

  16. Buc Neckid Says:

    Lovie is not going anywhere this year
    Drafting a Rookie FRANCHISE QB guarantees that this year Lovie gets a pass regardless of the record.

  17. Joseph Mamma Says:

    How about L. David rushing the passer? Oh Lovie’s D doesn’t allow that.

  18. Destinjohnny Says:

    Love the gm is going to get lovie the coached sacked
    Glazer boys put the most badass scoting dept you can.
    That’s were u win boys – there is no cap on scouting expenses

  19. tgreg Says:

    Franchise QB…what a hoot

  20. I know why Says:

    Seriously….anyone surprised, another FA miss, this is awful. Licht and Lovie have both been fired for a reason, why does ownership always overreact on things. I wish we would have kept Gruden, (not Allen), maybe Raheem, and even Schiano…I blame one family not Lovie, blame the guys that hired him.

  21. I know why Says:

    oh and “the dom must go” I wish we had him back…seriously!

  22. James Walker Says:

    Welcome to the sewer, you brought your nose plugs right?

  23. Greg Schiano Says:

    Blame the media for not stating that Lovie should have been fired last season after 2-14! Now at 3-17 what more do we need to see? Let Frazier coach the rest of the season as he has HC experience and on not wait until the last minute to get a legit HC. The Bucs must give a dynamic new young HC something to work with. Do you think the Niners are missing Jim Harbaugh!!

    Please…no more Lovie Smith!
