Lovie Talks Lavonte David Contract

August 1st, 2015
Elite tackler.

Lavonte David deal will get done, Lovie says.

Joe understands how Bucs fans lie awake at night staring at the ceiling fan, sweating and thinking of stud linebacker Lavonte David sitting out a season (or worse) over a contract dispute.

Joe is not among this sect. First, the Bucs have rights to David through the 2017 season (if exercising franchise player tags). And sitting out is not smart and David is not a dumb guy. Besides, Joe is pretty sure the Bucs can finish in last place without him.

Yesterday, when Lovie held his annual beginning-of-training camp address to the local pen and mic club, Lovie seemed to put the worries of Bucs fans at ease when it comes to David’s contract.

“I would tell the fans that it’s great that they are paying attention and they should,” Lovie said. “Lavonte will be taken care of. I think I am on record. You can go back to any shot that I’ve given on Lavonte David on how I feel about him. I feel the same way. That person and those fans that are thinking that way, no one loves him more than I do; when I say I, we as an organization. He will be taken care of. In time, we’ll get this taken care of.

“Of course there are negotiations that are going on, but Lavonte hasn’t missed a beat. I have seen him. He is excited and, again, in time we will get that taken care of.”

There you have it. Joe’s not worried. Lovie’s not worried. Joe has a hunch Bucs AC/DC-loving general manager Jason Licht isn’t worried.

Nor should Bucs fans.

Click on “topic” to start a topic. Under all replies is a box to type a new reply. Very Easy.

Trust Joe when he writes the Bucs really want to keep David and have every intention of making him a very rich man. The Bucs, however, are not going to cave to the crazy demands of David’s agent.

Again, the Bucs have control over David through the 2017 season. He’s not going anywhere soon.

In Joe’s eyes, David’s contract is very much a back-burner issue. Wake Joe in 2018 if he is still unsigned.

No box for me to type any replies. No options for me to post anything, at least not that i’ve been able to find in the last 30 mins. I post on JBF a lot and would love to use the message boards, but just can’t figure it out. Will keep trying though.

  9. Joe Says:

Yeah Im with you 85. I went there too. No offense Joe but I know message boards and that is one of the worst formats I have ever seen. Thanks for giving your best shot though.

Don’t like it? Don’t go there. Real simple.

No offense, of course. But do feel free to keep b!tching.

Having the same issue with the message board. I read FAQ’s, registered and updated profile. I can see messages posted but there is no option to reply or submit a post that I can find. I am going to log out and back in to see if that changes anything.

Same problem here. I registered and go into a topic, but no reply button anywhere. I’m on an iPad, not sure on a computer. Great site joe, not sure why this is happening.

As noted in the FAQ here: https://joebucsfan.com/forum/help#community_overview/general_registration

“… Once this is complete you will either be fully registered, or in some cases you may receive an email from which you must follow a link to confirm your address and complete registration. Finally in some cases the Administrator may require a waiting period while he or she verifies your account.”

You might just be in a state of review. Make sure to check your email and filter settings to make sure you aren’t blocking any important emails.

  17. Bucthis Says:

Nonya, that’s probably it. I’ll check back tomorrow.
