GMC All In On Jameis

August 2nd, 2015
Solidly in Jameis' corner.

Solidly in Jameis’ corner.

Joe appreciates it when players speak from the heart — even if it bruises the feelings of a teammate. Honesty is the best policy.

Too often answers are staged, rehearsed. Not so, it seems, with Bucs stud defensive tackle Gerald McCoy.

Speaking to the Tampa Bay pen and mic club while waiting for the rain to stop yesterday afternoon, GMC was more than happy to shove all his chips into the pot to support “America’s Quarterback,” Bucs signal-caller Jameis Winston, being named starting quarterback.

“We did draft the guy No. 1 overall,” GMC said. “We addressed the biggest issue we felt we had with the first overall pick. You draft a guy at that spot; I don’t think you draft him to not play.”

This reminded Joe of when AC/DC-loving general manager Jason Licht confessed to Judy Battista of NFL Network, during the draft, that he had Bucs players texting him during the 2014 season to draft Jameis. Licht brought that up again on Tuesday to Joe and other media.

Joe’s going to guess neither Anthony Collins nor Ghost Johnson were among those texters.

    McCoy is the dude

If I had Licht’s cell phone number, I would’ve been texting him to draft Jameis too.

Everyone should be All in on JW if they are a fan.

[Geez, how about sticking with one username, huh? What kind of con are you trying to pull? — Joe].

This site, this team, this weather, has got me feeling real good right about now on the Bucs upcoming season. Another wave rolls in from the gulf, and the coffee boosts my spirit.

A side note on technical issues. I post on two different blogs. Here at JBF obviously and also on a Washington Post political blog.

I’m always on a laptop. ON A LAPTOP I HAVE NO TECHNICAL ISSUES.
I cannot say that about the WAPO’s sites. Posters there continually rag on Jeff Bezos of Amazon fame who bought the WAPO last year for not having adequate IT for a major paper. Joe’s site actually performs better.

Now once or twice I tried using my cellphone. That sucked. But I do not blame JBF. The entire experience on a cell phone can be less than satisfying even on a 4G net with the latest state of the art cell phone. I use my cell only for calling or texting…ALL of my internet experience on a cell is so truncated and tiny and needing resizing and taking forever. I only use a cell on the net for retrieving phone numbers or directions that I might need.

In other news, Player X with the Tampa Buccaneers said their new quarterback sucks because he doesn’t mind if they cut him.

    Not gonna happen.

Back to the topic at hand. It seems clear that Fameis already has the trust of the coaches and the team. That is excellent!

It’s also clear that this team has better character than previous Buc squads. That is also excellent.

I think the Bucs are going 10-6. My greatest fear however, where I may have overrated them is how tough they’ll be when faced with adversity.

IF the Bucs had won that opener against the Jets a couple of years ago that entire season might have gone differently. But that team, as well as last year’s squad were just too fragile to handle that kind of adversity. We can blame Schiano or Lovie but the QB’s had a LOT to do with that. JFro was a joke as a leader that season…Glennon is too young and lacking in resume to command respect…Josh McCown CHOKED and no athlete feels confident being led by a choker.

Fameis has NEVER lost. What is going to happen if we win the opener and then lose 2 or 3 in a row. Can the guys hang on or will they fold like the past few Buc teams? That and injuries are the only concern I have. 10-6 baby!!!!

Joe this message is for you as I’m sure you won’t let it out on the page. This has been happening on my iPad using wifi. This is the only site that gives me problems. Feel free to email me Me if needed. I see you deleted the posts discussing the issues we’ve been having. I can’t find a way to send you a direct message. It is an issue and I’m hoping you’re well aware of it and trying to address it.

Same here. I don’t appreciate being taken to a website when I’m up here simply reading a story. The only site that does this. Do something about it would you please? Deleting iur posts don’t make me the problem go away

Funny, gmc says we addressed the biggest need we had with the #1 overall pick yet we have posters crying for glennon. I am still confused why these glennon supporters do not see how much of problem he was to our cause regardless of his td/int ratio. Gmc again called it the “biggest” need. I’m sure licht and lovie felt the same way. Get on board people.

The best thing that could happen to us is for Jameis to play so well he actually does become Americas quarterback

I really can’t see Jameis failing as the Buc QB, he got Dirk Koetter as his OC, Vincent Jackson and Mike Evans at WR. Then you throw in ASJ and Charles Sims, Kenny Bell, Timmy Wright, Louis Murphy and a much improved O-Line. I’m looking forward to good things from Jameis this season.
