“He Was Working Harder Than Everybody”

Alterraun Verner explains

Only Buccaneers players know what man leads the team when it comes to work ethic and effort.

It’s a subjective take, but one worth sharing when it comes from the mouth of a player on national television.

For those who missed it, here’s a link to Lavonte David being honored as the 56th best player in the NFL, voted by his peers into the Top 100 Players of 2015.

In the video, Alterraun Verner is one of several players — from multiple teams — asked to talk about David. Verner said of David, “He was working harder than everybody.” And Verner went on to explain that David never rested on his amazing 2013 stats.

A guy who works that hard is hungry to win and is tortured by losing. David becomes a free agent after this season, if the Bucs don’t lock him up. Joe is confident a deal will get done, but the longer it drags on, the more David starts thinking about moving on and playing for a playoff team. That would not be a good thing for Bucs fans.

Joe if LVD leaves this team. I’ll have a melt down like no one on this site as ever seen before.

  2. Ray Rice Says:

Beast LVD! And he keeps getting the shaft for the pro bowl.

  3. WS99 Says:

I think LVD is done with Lovie. Primarily for getting benched last yr due to “injury”. Real ballers like LVD play hurt all the time, they play thru pain. Not only did the benching cost him his consecutive game streak but also effected his stats pretty much costing him money. Not to mention not having any sacks or picks thanks to Lovies excellent defensive system. LVD should be eating pineapples every jan not sitting on the bench bc he coach is skerd.

Im afraid this might be our last year with my favorite player Mr. #54.

  4. Buc1987 Says:

99…then prepare for a melt down!

  5. WS99 Says:

    87

    I don’t wanna!!!! Noooooooooooooooo!!

  6. Lord Cornelius Says:

If we don’t retain him then put it #1 on blunders list for next year lol.

I really doubt it though considering the insane praise the FO gives him. He’ll get signed.

  7. LutzBuczFan Says:

Nobody would have confidence in or have respect for Licht if he doesn’t get a deal done with David.

  8. WS99 Says:

From what I understand LVDs camp is asking for more than the position pays. So if we want to keep him we will have to over pay which I’m sure every bucs fan is cool with.

  9. LutzBuczFan Says:

    I’m cool with that.

  10. WS99 Says:

    Me too bro, me too!!

  11. Ray Rice Says:

If they can keep over paying for other sax of $hit. They better not even think twice about paying THE BEAST!

  12. WS99 Says:

Exactly! So why isn’t it done already? Chances are they’ll franchise tag him next year. After that it’s anyone’s guess.

  13. SteveK Says:

I really hope we resign our best player.

  14. Ray Rice Says:

Feels down right righteous to know I’m not the only one who “knows” THE BEAST is the best player on the team. Bar none. Period. LOL

  15. Buccfan37 Says:

If David leaves the Bucs, the rest of the team and the fans would unleash hellfire upon the owners and coaches. That’s why I can’t in any stretch of my imagination believe it can or will happen. It better not happen. Read this head honchos, sign LVD on incur the wrath. Your move.

  16. Buc1987 Says:

    I agree Ray.

  17. Howard Cosell Says:

Ownership will let him walk to save money and the fans will
assume that it was L&L’s idea and the media will do nothing
    to set the record straight.
That’s how Shahid Khan type owners operate.

  18. Jon Says:

Joe have you seen the IG picture of Winston, Murphy, and Mike Evans putting in work at the fsu indoor facility this week? Love it

  19. SteveK Says:

    Ray Rice,

He’s the complete package, a must sign player.

  20. tampa2bucsforever Says:

Tampa Bay without Lavonte David is like a Buccaneer without his rum. Licht’s legacy depends on it.

  21. The original "Kevin" Says:

Until they have cap problems there is no reason not to pay him. He was benched because lovie wanted to lose. If we pay losers more thN what they are worth than they better pay lvd…..he will be a pro bowler once this team wins more than 4 quarters of football

  22. ptwalk Says:

    LVD isn’t going anywhere. Next.

  23. Danati74 Says:

Get a grip guys, theres no real news,…so lets not make up a story. L&L will lock this guy up. He is at a key position for this D. Some believe Kwon is more athletic than David, but you can’t have too many LBers. Were trying to make this team a contender and David is in the plan. His stats took a dip, but he too is learning a new D, plus we were in the chase for Jameis.

  24. Trubucfan22 Says:

    LOVE ME SOME LVD!

  25. Trubucfan22 Says:

LVD is the best player in the league. Idc what his camp is asking. Pay da man!

  26. LargoBuc Says:

Im not worried about David not blitzing as much. We got more sacks with David in coverage than we did the year before with David blitzing. So what does it really matter. No David didn’t make the pro bowl. But All pro and top 100 is way better than morons from other fan bases having their say. Besides, Lovies system helped give David the chance to demolish Jimmy Grahm! He was never the freakin same! The Tampa bay Bucs stopped the unstoppable Jimmy Grahm!
BTW It seems like compared to other teams’ players, the only people talking about David were his own team mates! What do Brees and Olsen and Julio have to say about their division rival?
Notice in that video comment section its nothing but Panther losers talking about how Kuchely and even Thomas Davis are better than David…talk about some homers!
So I fail to see how Lovie is “ruining” David. The guy can only make and impact if he sacks the back? Lay off the bspn! Nothing wrong with David running sideline to sideline hitting people all day. Once the unit really figures it out, interceptions will soon follow. And really, if the defense as a whole increased their sack total, then who cares what he does, as long as he does it well. If your going to hate on Lovie, then hate on something he actually deserves to be hated on for. There’s plenty to choose from.

  27. 813bucsboi Says:

LOVIE DID NOT RUIN LVD!!! lovie is setting him up to be the next DB…a deal will get done before or during the season just like GMC..Lovie benched him for the same reason he sat GMC..because the team wasn’t going any where as far as playoffs so why risk the health of your 2 best players and lovie obviously wanted to tank to get Winston…the team will be much improved..of the 14 games we lost, we only got blown out of 2..atl and Baltimore..we were in every game last year and would’ve won at least half of them with a qb that has some balls…we could’ve easily been 12-4 had our offense produce 17 points but we couldn’t even do that…GO BUCS!!!
