Very Thick Skin

A couple of Jameis Winston’s peers are learning tough lessons

Former Jameis Winston wide receiver and current stud Panthers WR Kelvin Benjamin seemed to have a pouting session at minicamp last week before head coach Ron Rivera stepped in.

Benjamin also gets darts thrown at him routinely for his weight — even just the other day by Joe Theismann.

And then there was the recent whimpering of fellow second-year stud Giants wideout Odell Beckham. Eli Manning stepped up a few days ago on New York sports radio to tell Beckham to suck it up and deal with teammates having fun with him.

This got Joe thinking about Jameis Winston, America’s Quarterback, who has taken a brutal beating by media of all kinds for well over a year. And through it all, Jameis keeps smiling, working his tail off and winning — and staying pretty unfazed.

Manning’s message was to grow thick skin, something the Big Apple quarterback knows is critical for survival under a microscope. Manning, despite two Super Bowl wins, has plenty of haters.

Joe believes Jameis has the necessary thick skin.

That’s something he’ll need once action picks up on the civil suit against him later this year — and if he and the Bucs can’t beat Marcus Mariota and the sad sack Titans on opening day in Tampa.

OBJ and KB are just bummed that Jameis won’t be throwing to them. Suck it up or request to be traded to Tampa Bay!

Actually, the media is tough on all ball players. The faster they toughen up, the less distracting it is.

Here’s hoping Jameis doesn’t get distracted!

We now have two QBs with thick skin…..something our departed JF didn’t have.

Wow. I’ve posted once or twice only in a couple weeks. Barely even visited the website.

Ironically, when I finally come back, there’s nothing new happening.

Been a great two weeks. No bickering. Finished writing a novel. Got a nice pair of loafers…

…and here I am, looking for news. I don’t know how Joe does it. He’s got to keep content coming several times a day, even if nothing is happening. Man is a miracle worker.

Back to back articles with an Eli mention. JoeEliFan.com?

We all remember Jameis’ temper tantrum. Hope he’s over it.

Joe has to listen to a lot of radio, read a lot of articles and watch a lot of videos. Amazing he has time to write posts!

Impressive about the writing. What did you write, if you don’t mind sharing?

I could care less about losing the Titans game even if MM starts v. JW unless we miss going 16-0. I just want at the end of the season (hoping) we have a winning record or at least win the division 7-8-1 like the stinking panthers. If we mis playoffs by one game (ala Detroit 2012), then I’m pissed about a loss to the stanking Titans

Once the season starts, every win is important.

I like Jameis but idk, he didn’t look soo thick skinned when Kevin Hart roasted him at FSU last year. Lol.

    @ JOE

Come on man. I already brought those two incidents up last week. That’s old news brother. Let’s talk about THE MESSIAH some more shall we.

If Josh Freeman had thick skin, he would have been an elite QB. He had all of the talent he possess all of the physical tools, rifle arm, make all of the NFL throws,he threw with anticipation. But he just wasn’t mentally tough and he lacked leadership skills.

An Epic Fantasy novel. I also right action and adventure novels. And the occasional article on politics or sports. And in my early twenties I wrote comic book stories. Also an occasional non fiction book.
