Lofty Expectations For Evans

June 24th, 2015
Getting loads of hype.

Getting loads of hype.

Yes, Joe was like a lot of Bucs fans when he learned the Godzilla-like young receiver of the Bucs, Mike Evans, worked out with all-time great Randy Moss.

Evans talked about how much knowledge Moss shared, and Evans clearly was excited discussing his one-on-one workouts with Moss this year. Any sort of insight from Moss should help Evans, but there is more to get worked up about writes Chris Wesseling of NFL.com.

Evans, like Moss, is more than just a one-trick pony with impressive ability to high-point deep balls and end-zone fades. He has excellent footwork in tight spaces and a rare combination of nimbleness and physicality after the catch.

Between the move to the “X” alpha dog position, improved play-calling from Koetter and No. 1 overall pick Jameis Winston’s willingness to take chances down the field, Evans might soon find himself on NFL Media analyst Nate Burleson’s list of the NFL’s top five wide receivers.

First, Wesseling is correct: Evans had to adjust from what he admitted was a very limited route tree at Texas A&M.

Also, Joe loves the fact Logan Mankins said it was nice to have an offensive coordinator that can read defenses when he was asked recently about Dirk Koetter.

Throw in the fact Evans has “America’s Quarterback,” Bucs signal-caller Jameis Winston, throwing to him, a guy who is not afraid to make any throw.  Wow. This could be something special.

Now if Jameis can only get some blocking.

There should be big expectations when you draft a guy that high, now if he only had the 4.25 speed Moss had when he came in the league…..now that would be lethal.

The only thing that will cut into ME13s production is more from ASJ, Bell/Murphy, & Sims….and I’m hoping that happens…..

Savage Mike!… Don’t hold your breath counting on Ricky Dudley #87 to take away production from Savage Mike. Maybe the SB Champ Tim Wright might. Not Glass Joe.
