Gerald McCoy Ranked 28th By Fellow Players

June 24th, 2015

McCoy mugThe man who has his mind set on “15+ sacks” this season and believes he “should be able to win” got a huge honor tonight.

Little-Mermaid-loving Gerald McCoy was voted the 28th best player in the league by his fellow NFL Players.

The news broke tonight on NFL Network during their “Top 100 of 2015” feature.

McCoy had the exact same ranking last year. And he deserves it.

But like McCoy, Joe feels a little empty with individual accolades after a 2-14 season.

If McCoy can play to his potential and lead the Bucs to a division title, then look for him in the top-10 next year.

  1. The Buc Realist Says:

    What of waste of talent being on this team. And his window just keeps getting shorter!

  2. Pelbuc Says:

    McCoy is a solid player that doesn’t last 16 games. I can’t remember a game he’s taken over and made a difference. Selmon and Sapp made a living making big plays and causing turnovers. McCoy, not so much. He’s the leader of a 2-14 team, nuff said.

  3. StPeteBucsFan Says:

    GMC is in exactly the right place at the right time.

    But Bucs WILL turn it around this year. 10-6 First round loss in playoffs

    Next year the Bucs continue to improve and are viewed as a dangerous team in the playoffs.

    Then in two more years the Bucs peak…right when GMC’s career should peak.

  4. Hawaiian Buc Says:

    Once again, idiot fans who think they know more than everyone else chime in to criticize our best player. Never mind being chosen to pro bowls three years in a row and being voted as a top 30 player. What do those guys know? They only do it for a living. I’m sure anonymous Bucs fans on the Internet know more. Those are the guys I listen to.

  5. Buc1987 Says:

    McCoy has had to deal with waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay too many 3 and outs by our offense over the last 3 years. It’s no wonder he’s gassed by the 4th.

  6. Buc1987 Says:

    Jameis Winston will eventually make McCoy’s job much easier.

  7. LargoBuc Says:

    Such a beast. Good to see we have three top 100 players this year. Hopefully they can put the pieces together and get this thing going.

  8. Brion Says:

    joe- why o why can’t we get a decent De to play next to this monster? shouldn’t they be knocking down our door? How bout an article/ update on free agent or waiver des out there? Or are we stuck with Johnson?

  9. Joe Says:

    joe- why o why can’t we get a decent De to play next to this monster?

    If you know of one available, might want to drop a voice mail to Jason Licht.

    Safe bet is the Bucs drafting one next spring.

  10. BuccaneEric75 Says:

    DE or LT with first rounder next season. If we get both in FA, or if one we have emerges, then I can see them going WR to replace Jackson.

  11. Brion Says:

    I don’t ask men for cell phone numbers, but top of my head – Dwight Freeney? Osi Umenyiora?

  12. Stanglassman Says:

    Congratulations GMC! I don’t know if Buc fans deserve this guy, way too many of them don’t seem to appreciate his play.

    Example*PelBuc- Just making stuff up to make his false point that GMC doesn’t force turnovers and make plays like Lee Roy did. Actual Fact- GMC 4 FF over 5 seasons and Lee Roy had Zero over ten seasons.

    I believe Lee Roy, Sapp and GMC were and are all great players in their own ways.

  13. dcbucsfan Says:

    Brion,

    Are you serious? Freeny and Osi are 84 years old respectively!

  14. Kevin Says:

    @Buc1987

    That’s exactly right. Some people think because they are in they’re air conditioned living room, with a cold beer that there is no excuse to be tired. They don’t realize that the intense heat along with never coming off the field will take everything out of you. Gerald is a beast and its great to have him on our team

  15. Patrickbucs Says:

    @Hawaiian

    Totally agree and ad All Pro. Can’t think of a game he dominated? Smh violently at some of these posts. If he had any talent at the end position in his career to date he would have multiple double digit sack seasons.

  16. Ray Rice Says:

    @JOE

    “If McCoy can play to his potential and lead the Bucs to a division title.”

    That’s a big if JOE. He hasn’t proved it on a consistent basis. I also don’t want to hear from everyone else about the TOP 100 list either. That list is just as skewed as the pro bowl. Tim Tebow even made that list one season.

  17. Ray Rice Says:

    And for those who claim Aunt Geraldine is the best player on the team or on defense. You might want to revisit that thought and watch more tape of that #54 guy. BEAST LVD!

  18. BUCSLEGENDS Says:

    Ray Rice, SELF PROCLAIMED football genius !!!!!!! LMFAO !

  19. Dave Says:

    Mccoy has had 0 help on the D line and awful offenses going 3 and out and playing from behind.
    If he played along side what SApp did, he would be taking over games and having 10+ sacks a year.
