“Marked Improvement” For Jameis

Glowing words from Lovie.

No, Bucs fans, there was no sighting of “America’s Quarterback,” Bucs signal-caller Jameis Winston at OTAs today. That was because Jameis is attending a mandatory function for top NFL draft picks.

That doesn’t mean Jameis hasn’t been working at One Buc Palace. Hardly. Jameis has been at OTAs this week, only missing today. Of course, practices were closed until today so Bucs coach Lovie Smith was asked after practice how Jameis is doing.

Lovie went into a long, glowing description of how Jameis is progressing in his few weeks as a pro.

“Marked improvement,” Lovie beamed, adding that’s what the Bucs expected: improvement as film study and practices move into training camp, preseason and then, the regular season.

Lovie noted that the Bucs obviously knew Jameis would be unavailable today, so they ‘doubled-up” on snaps for Jameis this week — and Jameis passed with flying colors.

“He is feeling more and more comfort in the pocket,” Lovie said. “There is a lot we are asking a rookie to do but Jameis is picking it all up just like we thought he would, right on schedule.

“He’s been everything” the Bucs expected, Lovie said. “He’s a football junkie, we knew that beforehand. We kind of tell him when to leave [the building], which we expected we would have to do. He takes coaching well. Yesterday was his best day going against our best defense. We have a long ways to go but we like where he is right now.”

How cool is that? The Bucs damned near have to throw him out of One Buc Palace to stop him from working. Then, as video shows, he works more from home, on a holiday no less!

So far, all the cries before the draft about how Jameis would stain the Tampa Bay area and Pearl Harbor the locker room of the Bucs sure as hell sounds like a bunch of hysterical paranoia from a bunch of thin-skinned midwives.

I bet his absence was quite noticeable for just one day. I could not even imagine not having our shiny new Franchise QB of the Americas!!! So glad we got WINSTON!!! Can’t wait for the season to get here.

No surprise here. The guy they put 2 years worth of draft research into is everything their research indicated and more!!! Only surprise for me here is the absence of the “Supersam Mo 4 Mariota” because he sold more jerseys in the month of May crowd LMAO.

First of all I love Jameis, I grew up a Seminole fan and watched him turn around FSU almost overnight by himself once already. I pray he does well in the NFL and can do the same thing for the BUCS but Josh Freeman did the same thing when he first came on board. I would read how much of a gym rat he was. Watching film and was always the first there in the AM and last to leave. Right now everything is sunshine and rainbows but what about when your 1-5 and have to push to make .500 if your lucky… Is his work ethic the same then? are we still trying to get better staying late and putting in the hard work? Maturity, Big Picture and Long Term Focus are whats needed from him. I sure hope we get it.. and honestly this is the best start you could ask for definitely anti Manziel.

I, as a staunch supporter of Jameis, have a story to tell about his character. It may seem minor to some but meant alot to me. Leaving Game 3 of the Bolts-rangers series (rangers in lower case on purpose), I walked toward him down a hallway near the luxury suites. I look up and see Jaboo, wearing a black Ben Bishop Bolts jersey, surrounded by three Amalie Arena employees. I called his name and he stepped out of the “protection circle” that he had to shake my hand and tell me that “we are about to have alot of fun’!! That, to me, says ALOT about who he is. He seemed uncomfortable in the middle of the “circle”, and broke it to shake my hand, where he seemed so at ease. The sincerety was obvious, and I am a psychiatrist, trained to “read people”. The man is legit, and we should be so thankful that, like the Colts have done twice, we sucked the most in a year that a stallion QB was to be had!! GO BUCS!! And I love that the haters seem to have fallen off the face of the Earth!!

In defense of the cry babies it is scary to hear lovie say “I like where he is right now ” when lovie said that about a player last year he was lying through schiano gap teeth we just didn’t know it until the season began

Some of it is thin skinned short sightedness(sic) sure, and some of it was/is rank bigotry.

Most of it what we heard about Winston prior to the draft was/is pure gooberism wackery exposing people’s inability to evaluate a player based on what that player puts on film. The notoriety Mr. Winston brings with him is nothing like anyone I can remember on the Bucs. Keyshawn maybe? I DO know I’m more hyped on the preseason than I can remember being in at least 10 years. The preseason is the next opportunity to see what Winston can do at this level. It’s both tantalizing and kind of dreary to think all of that short sightedness, gooberism, racism and possibly even undue praise will be coming at us a BILLION times more frequently than predraft. IOWs We aint seen nothin yet folx.
    And I can wait.

  13. Pick6 Says:

Meanwhile, reports out of Tennessee have mariota’s teammates quoted as noticing he is a fast runner and that he isn’t getting frustrated. Hooray for them I guess

  14. what? Says:

““It’s a process. That’s why you want to give him as many reps as you can, to get him more comfortable, get him prepared,” Whisenhunt said. “I guess the best assessment would be some good, some bad, probably what you’d expect.””

Jameis = “right on schedule”, “everything we expected”, “we like where he is right now”
Marcus = “It’s a process…to get him more comfortable/prepared”, “some good, some bad, probably what you’d expect”

    See the difference?

  15. Rrsrq Says:

Here in ATL and flip to their sports radio, the topic “Jameis misses OTA’s with the Bucs”, of course they cleared it up, but even in the A, Jameis is in the news

  16. what? Says:

    No shock there.

He keeps it playa while some choose to play it safe.

    Check the resume.

  17. lurker Says:

america’s qb is tom brady…and he ain’t here.

but there are plenty of misogynists here.

  18. Joe Says:

    DrFeelgood:

    Cool story.

  19. drdneast Says:

Very astute observation lurker. I was thinking the same thing.

  20. Buccos Says:

I’m sure most Bucs fans are behind Winston now. Although, he has not done a damn thing yet. Joe is simply jinxing him with all of this “Americas QB” bs. You better hope Winston doesn’t read this crap and start to believe it!

  21. Bucfansinz1986 Says:

Just a bunch of rah rah stuff and if you don’t rah rah Infamous, you get called names. How sweet.

  22. Skyline Crew Says:

I would give Aaron or Peyton the title not Brady. He is America’s Diva.
