“I’m A Cop”

May 29th, 2015

Lovie Smith is a classy, mild-mannered, easy-going man as you will ever meet. It’s almost impossible to believe he could ever raise his voice to anyone.

Lovie is the anti-Greg Schiano.

But if the law needs to be thrown down, Lovie said he can and will do it.

“I’m a cop,” Lovie said yesterday after OTA practice.

Lovie was answering a question about getting too intense — even in underwear football — or even practice in shorts and shirts.

In a manner of speaking, Lovie said he makes sure folks don’t get out of hand in May.

“I’m a cop, I guess you can say, to stop all of that,” Lovie said. “That’s one thing that goes against everything you teach is that, especially with the linemen. We don’t want a lot of contact and that’s not natural to do. You have to concentrate on other things. For a lineman, it’s more about drills and things like that.

“Once we come together for team, it’s about alignments and for us, which is good, just running to the football and some of those things. We are still getting good work.”

That’s the weird thing about watching underwear football — the lack of violence.

In real football, guys are throwing themselves at running backs. In underwear football, as Joe pointed out yesterday, defenders actually run away from running backs as if they have a viral stomach flu. They rush to the running back and, as if there is some sort of invisible force field, then run away.

More like a “Mall Cop” !!!!

  2. Tom Edrington Says:

Yes, Lovie’s the cop who stood around and watched the other teams loot and plunder at Raymond James last season……

unfortunately that is entirely too accurate.

You people bitch to much. I am fine with what happened last year when you actually look at the facts. First out of the top 5 worst teams, Tampa was in the most one score games. Second, if you want Glennon or McCown…. keep them, go support the team they play for or eventually will play for. Winston seems better than the other 2 we used, the O-Line should be better, and the defense should do well.

Lovie is no an idiot, Frazier at one point was the leader of a great Defense with the Vikes, and Dirk had tools like this in ATL and had a great run. Problem is people are no patient with this team. Morris was a shitty coach and talent guy, Greg actually was on the right path talent wise, he was just an asshole. Lovie found many people in Chi-Town. Matt Forte, A. Jeffery, Greg Olsen, Herny Melton, Lance Briggs, Tillman, Nathan Vasher when he was a stud, the other DT Tommie Harris or something.

People be calm and chive on, see that this team is headed in the right direction…. or piss off.

Dang Popeye! No wonder Olive Oil treats you like a Bi__h and screws Brutus right in front of you. Grow a set.

    Popeye

please raise your standards. Also, there is plenty of documentation and tape to prove that in fact Loive Smith is an idiot. Remember football does not start until November and we don’t need any points. 2-14 is hardly the right direction.

Popoeye and another thing not everyone deserves a trophy for trying hard. Winners win and losers try hard.

  8. Buccfan37 Says:

The players better clean the spuds out of their ears and pick up a set of the in ear amplifiers to hear Lovie’s whispers to knock it off fellas.

  9. Tiny Tim Says:

You know its funny, if the bucs have a winning season this year, I wonder if you lovie bashers will give him some credit or will you say he only won because he had a good team?

  10. The Buc Realist Says:

    @tim tim

we will say its luck. Luck that all the other teams have a major collapse, major injuries and playing 2nd and 3rd string Qbs. that is what will have to happen for Lovie to get a winning season this year.

And please stop with the close one score games. Otherwise say Coach Schiano would have been 13-3 in his first year with that logic!!!!

  11. Clint Says:

Am I the only one here who appreciates the Ray Traylor/Big Bossman WWF Photo?

  12. jay24 Says:

Are we still hating on schiano? Is that still a thing?

  13. Popeye Says:

Best part was, almost everyone on this site bashed Greg and were pulling for us to bring Lovie back with Dungey as his GM. He had one bad season on a team that was crap the year before and now it’s Lovie is the worst, Lovie sucks…. there is a reason no one on here is employeed by the Bucs…… I wonder why

  14. 1SadBucFan87 Says:

He does kind of look like Detective Jody Jacobs from first 48.

  15. BUCSLEGENDS Says:

    #BucsFansUnite !?!?!?!?!?!?!?

  16. LakelandBuc Says:

I swear some of these people come here just to insult Lovie,Jason and the Bucs. If you don’t have anything postive to say then don’t even bother to post.
