GMC Humbled By Peers; Lauds Jameis

A moved McCoy talks to Joe

From the snap of the ball until the referee blows his whistle ending a play, few players are more ornery and/or feared than Bucs defensive tackle Gerald McCoy.

Although the full list of the “The top 100 Players of 2015” has yet to be released by NFL Network (Mike Evans was already named), GMC was voted in the Top 100 the past two seasons, and arguably, GMC had his best season last year.

Unlike other Top 100 lists, the rankings are based on votes of NFL players alone, no media, coaches or second parties. Joe caught up with GMC and asked what making those lists means to him.

GMC turned real humble and you could tell those types of honors move him.

“It is great,” GMC said as his voice began to grow lower and he paused for thought. “When you work really hard to be at your best week in and week out and you are recognized by your peers, it is always an honor.”

Of course, GMC was asked about “America’s Quarterback,” Bucs signal-caller Jameis Winston. GMC is thus far impressed.

“He is a sponge,” GMC said. “He takes any advice you are willing to give. I think that is what is going to make him so good.”

When asked if he noticed Jameis’ skillset, GMC busted out laughing, “He’s a first overall pick, of course you can see the talent! Give him some time guys; it is only Day 3. Until we put on pads and I can chase him, then I will tell you how good he is.”

    GMC…..”America’s Defensive Tackle”

Says……”Give him some time”…..I think we should take his advice….

I live in Montana so I am aware that nobody up here cares for JW but I was kind of surprised to see all the hate for him on a BSPN story that just came out. Almost 100 comments in the comment section already and Man does the rest of America hate “America’s QB”

  3. Buc-A-New Says:

Until we put on pads and I can chase him, then I will tell you how good he is.”
Lol, Awesome answer! Go GMC and JW. Go Bucs

  4. DepressedbucsfaN Says:

Can’t wait to see all the guys in pads. Have gmc, Melton, and LVD going full force. Yea then we will see if he can handle it. I think he will do very well though. JW has had nothing but positive praise by the players on this team

  5. Skyline Crew Says:

    Best DT in the league.

  6. Clintro Says:

“Until we put on pads and I can chase him, then I will tell you how good he is.”

    I agree this was GREAT!!

  7. PABucsfan Says:

He might be the best DT in the league. It’s too bad his prime is being wasted on a line with no help off the edges.

Not sure why the BSPN hate surprised you. BSPN started the hate in the first place with their irresponsible reporting and one sided analysis from the start. BSPN has cost Jameis millions with their smear campaign. I cant’ wait for more athletes to start snubbing BSPN the way Jameis did draft night. Hold those minimum wage disney reporters accountable for pushing agendas over facts.

    @ Buc A New

I’m in NC & I would be very hard-pressed to find a Winston fan anywhere…..As a Buc fan…..I have been a staunch defender with all my neighbors, friends/poker buddies….
Their opinions are shaped by two things…..

    1. National Media
    2. They have no vested interest (fans of other teams)

I tell them that I was a Mariota supporter but after much discernment, I am confident that Winston will be just fine. They remain skeptical.

It will be solely up to Winston to change national opinion…..and it will take some time.

This problem for Winston is what makes Joe’s labeling him “America’s QB” absolutely laughable…..and unless Joe is simply beiing sarcastic, makes him look like a local fool.

Great post tmax,I feel you on that one bro.

  11. Buc-A-New Says:

TBBF in the two plus years I have read your posts you have never wavered from the truth. Keep rockin man. And ask pablo if he needs a job.

  12. Buc-A-New Says:

    Good morning Nole

As you know Tmaxcon I rarely agree with you but in this case I do. ESPN is like the National Enquirer of Cable TV when it comes to sports sensationalism.
In the meantime I just read Daquan Bowers twitter post about not having fun in Tampa.
Well, pal, it was no bowl of cherries paying out good money to watch you loaf around for four years while you huffed and puffed because you were always out of shape.
Four years waiting for you to make an impact play and coming up empty.
    What a slug you were.
We even got rid of a player who gave 100 percent all the time, unlike you, so you could develop into the shiftless lazy unemployable bum that you are today.
Hope the unemployment checks have stopped arriving.

    tmaxcon-

That “draft day snub” story is just another example of ESPN smearing Jameis.

HE STILL DID THE FREAKING INTERVIEW WITH THEM.

He just didn’t do it the SECOND they demanded he do it and he did an interview with NFL Network first.

So how does ESPN react? Like a 14 yr old girl who didn’t make the cheerleading squad. They leaked a BS rumor that Jameis snubbed them. Boo freaking hoo first of all. Second, they weren’t snubbed…he did an interview with them, just not at the exact moment they demanded.

This this man’s site he can call the man what ever he chooses. It’s a helluva lot better than some of the choice selections that were being spewed a few months ago. Again America’s QB sound d@$! good to me. BSPN refers to Lebron James as “the best basketball player on the planet”I’ve never heard anyone complain. Me personally I feel he’s the biggest cry babie but who the hell am I anyway.

the media today is a joke in all aspects. much more important to be first versus being accurate. it’s a sad industry.

I saw that tweet from bowers and almost spit up on my screen. He obviously had some fun somewhere considering he could never get the basics down of staying in shape. Bowers is a total hypocrite plays the good guy / religion card every single chance he gets but never put the effort in. showing up out of shape repeatedly is low character period… talks a good game..

no i believe cheeseburger bowers qualifies for Obama’s 99 week plan… he’s still cashing tax payer money.

Bill Russell and Jordan say hello.

  18. tmaxcon Says:

WS99 very nice its about rings not number of ME moments

  19. Joe Says:

    Buc-A-New:

In Joe’s travels around the country, Jameis is the most hated man in football. Just mentioning his name, people go wild, and not in a good way.

He certainly moves the needle. 🙂

  20. Buccfan37 Says:

I saw the movie I believe it was called The Longest Yard recently on tv. The second one not the original, with Adam Sandler and Burt Reynolds Stupid movie, Chris Berman, is that the blundering fool from BSPN, was in it. Lousy actor is putting it mildly, just a big flop.

  21. Tampa Tony Says:

GMC good player when healthy. Just don’t ask him to make a play in the second half to protect a lead

  22. WS99 Says:

    Joe

Late last year around week 15 gmc tweaked his knee if you recall. How’s his knee feeling? I’ve seen him working out on ig with his “bane” mask. Hope his knee stays strong this year.

  23. bucs4lyfe Says:

that should tell you all you need to know about fans and media….wanting to know how good the guy is before he even faces a training camp like pass rush, this is how fans get fooled into thinking guys like glennon are the future of the franchise because. how often are you going to hear anything negative said about anyone’s teammate? wins are gonna get me excited about this team not quotes in OTA’s or silly media stories even though I enjoy the news

  24. Nole on Sat.-Bucc on Sun. Says:

    Good morning Buc

  25. rayjay1122 Says:

Screw Mr. Brady…..before long GMC will be referring to Jameis as Mr. Winston.

  26. Ray Rice Says:

    Hey Aunt Geraldine,

Worry about chasing the other teams’ QB. Not your own. Also, please make a play in any quarter besides the first. Thanks!

  27. LargoBuc Says:

I hate espn. Its all about storylines, very little in depth break downs. Like when The Mavs beat Lebron and the Heat. Showing how Dallas defended Lebron to basically make the guy a non factor. But no, you dont hear that from them. Its just oh, Lebron choked, and thats it and you forget the Mavs are/were even champions! OMG I hate espn! I would rather watch nfl or mlb network. Nbcsports. Any thing but espn!

  28. admin Says:

    WS99:

    No issues with GMC.

  29. iamabuc Says:

The odd thing about it is, BSPN, after puting Jameis down, will be the first ones begging him for an interview, once he start winning. Sorry arses.
