The Bucs’ new cornerback talks about his free agency experience

The journey into free agency is different for every player.

The range of emotions can be great.

And that was the case for new Bucs cornerback Sterling Moore. Speaking on SiriusXM NFL Radio yesterday, Moore exuded all kinds of happiness for his new team.

“They showed me the most love,” Moore said of the Bucs. “We went back and forth and that’s what it came down to. It came down to a couple of teams and, you know, they stepped up and kind of separated themselves financially and between coaches calling me and stuff like that. It definitely felt good to be loved and to be appreciated.”

But then Moore shifted gears. Twice he said he felt “disrespected” by the Cowboys, once for not getting a free agent offer, and for getting cut (before being re-signed) in 2013.

You can hear all of Moore via the SiriusXM NFL Radio player below. Also, don’t forget Moore made it clear he is gunning to replace Alterraun Verner or Johnthan Banks, not just play nickelback.

Joe that’s the Dominik clip from the prior thread- could you update and refresh with moore sound clip?

It’s fixed. Sorry about that. –Joe

  2. StPeteBucsFan Says:

I LOVE this! He’s going to be one highly motivated dude next year. I love players with a chip on their shoulder.

  3. The Original Kevin Says:

I like our free agent signings much “Moore” than the ones last season.

Speaking of our Free agent signings, just watched the interview on the teams website with Melton. I didn’t know he was a converted running back. I would LOOOOVVVVVEEEEE to see them hand that guy the rock on third and goal. Talk about a freakin train!!!!!

  4. The Buc Realist Says:

I don’t see how Rod’s Sloppy seconds are going to make the Bucs that much better.

  5. The Original Kevin Says:

Also just my opinion….I think Verner should play the nickel this season while hopefully Moore can steal the other outside job

  6. cmurda Says:

Verner play the nickel? Our prized free agent signing from last year that actually worked out and once learning Lovie’s defense played much better. No way you put him in the slot unless it’s to switch up in-game, but he locks down one of the outside spots. Moore should be our nickel. In today’s NFL, the nickel is practically on the field most of the game.

  7. The original "Kevin" Says:

Moore is said to be faster than verner. He got burned a few times last season but doesnt get shaken easily. Just a thought…

  8. Nole on Sat.-Bucc on Sun. Says:

Verner is a starting corner PERIOD

  9. BuccaneerBonzai Says:

    Heck no, don’t move Verner!

Moore is not so good that he’s a great CB. He’s better for the middle.

Our CBs are the one thing that isn’t broke right now…don’t go screwing it up like that.

  10. LargoBuc Says:

Nice. I like the motivation Moore shows to be the best he can be and not jusr be another body. If he does move ahead of Banks and/or Moore then that will mean he played his ass off.

  11. The original "Kevin" Says:

I agree he played better down the stretch buy I noticed in some man coverage situations he got toasted. Im sure as long as they get more production from the pass rush it wouldnt make much of a difference anyway

  12. Buccfan37 Says:

Well the Bucs host the cowpokes this coming season, Moore can return all that love directed his way by picking off Romo at least once. This is the game I badly want the Bucs to win, it is long overdue yet still looks like a stretch to achieve.

  13. Pickgrin Says:

Moore will be a good addition I believe. Bucs now seem to be in pretty good shape with their 3 starting CBs.

If the Bucs are able to find someone at DE to play opposite Jacqueis Smith (who I expect to really come on this year) and if Carter works out at MLB – then the Bucs D is likely to be formidable this year. All free agents brought in to fill holes and provide competition already know and have played in this defense.

If Koetter and Winston can get manage to get the offense scoring some points this year – it’s not inconceivable that the Bucs could compete for the Division title in 2015. What would the Lovie haters have to talk about at that point if it happened? Fingers crossed.

Draft Winston – fix the OLine – and watch this team start playing some good ball. Go Bucs!

  14. bucs4lyfe Says:

Ronde barber was our starting content but he shifted to nickle when an extra corner came in…. Verner seems like the best in short space to play corner, it’ll prevent him from biting on the double move all year

The start of the Feast Of Unleavened Bread was awesome how about you guys. For the next 6 days don’t eat anything with leaven in it or at least don’t eat bread. Everybody should observe all the feast/high days I believe you can read up on it in Exodus 34 and in Leviticus, ok now back to football.

  16. Newbucsfan!!! Says:

For all the men out there who have to dvr football on Sundays because of church don’t feel bad stay home and enjoy Sunday is not the Sabbath anyway (Exodus 20).

  17. tmaxcon Says:

Moore is inconsistent not disrespected. Not a bad pickup but nothing spectacular. He might be the best signing of Lovie’s garbage run this off-season
