“The Kid Is Just Moronic”

January 21st, 2015
SiriusXM NFL Radio's Ross Tucker is no fan of Florida State quarterback Jameis Winston.

NBC Sports Network analyst and SiriusXM NFL Radio’s Ross Tucker is no fan of Florida State quarterback Jameis Winston.

The debate is all the rage and will unlikely die until after April’s NFL draft, and likely carry on for years to come. For Joe, it’s fun.

Yesterday, good guy Ross Tucker of SiriusXM NFL Radio and NBC Sports did a cannonball off the top diving board into the deep end of the pool of who the Bucs should draft with the No. 1 pick, Jameis Winston or Marcus Mariota.

Speaking to Tom Krasniqi and Ronnie Lane of WDAE-AM 620, Tucker, a former NFL offensive lineman and Princeton grad, said it is his “guess” that the Bucs would take Winston but then launched into a colorful diatribe on how it would be absolutely impossible for him to ever draft Winston if he was running the Bucs.

“My guess is that they will end up taking Jameis Winston and I would not do that.” Tucker said. “There is no way — no way! — if I am Jason Licht or Lovie Smith that I am putting my career on the line with that kid. There is just no way. I mean, with everything that has happened with him. For him to walk into the Rose Bowl with the camera on him and to make that marijuana signal. The kid is just moronic.

“I mean, you say immaturity but you now what? Immaturity is one or two things and you learn from it. It is just unbelievable to me with the camera on him that he would do it. It is just crazy. I wouldn’t do it.

“You look at these other guys, it is hard to think of that many quarterbacks that had off the field issues in college that came to the NFL and had a lot of success. You look at the top-five, top-ten quarterbacks; there are not a lot of guys that fit that category in the NFL right now.”

To be fair, Joe was told the alleged “marijuana signal” Winston displayed was actually mimicking a duck call like on that TV show with those ZZ Top wannabes that Joe has never watched. You know, Florida State was playing the Oregon Ducks? And, having gone duck hunting himself, Joe can see how folks could misconstrue that as Winston flaunting using a one-hitter. Joe was fooled at first, too.

Still, Tucker’s overall point is valid. The Bucs likely will have to be won over by both Winston’s interviews and the investigations the Bucs are doing in Tallahassee, and very likely in Winston’s hometown of Bessemer, Ala.

Kransiqi countered Tucker with Cam Newton and Dan Marino having off-field issues in college. Still, this is a concern that fascinates Bucs fans. Has Winston moved past these childish stunts to lead Tampa Bay to the playoffs?

I wouldn’t call him a moron per se, more like he lacks emotional maturity and self-awareness. Which is why it’s worth wondering whether giving him $20 million is going to improve those things.

  2. Skyline Crew for Mariota or Winston Says:

Maybe Winston will be like Brad Johnson and cheat to win a Superbowl for us. I still can’t belie that Johnson came out and said he cheated.

  3. JoshFreeman Says:

    Tucker’s an a$$clown

  4. theodore Says:

Apparently, admission standards to Princeton have been lowered.

  5. unbelievable Says:

Marino’s off-field issues were not anywhere close to the same as Winston. That’s not a good comparison at all.

As an outsider, it’s hard to know how much is overblown by the media, or if this kid is really as moronic as it seems. I would be very hesitant about mortgaging my whole future on a kid who ‘seems’ to just do stupid stuff all the time. But again, media can portray things in a different light.

The Bucs staff really needs to do their homework on this kid so they can see who the real Jameis is. It’s not like the Tallahassee police is going to be honest or anything..

  6. mike n Says:

Pretty valid point by tucker. You can have tons of talent and be pro ready, but if you don’t have great work ethic, if you are used to coaches being your buddy and going easy on you, and if you are immature… then you will fail and you don’t need to be the face of the franchise! Freeman had the talent and arm, and look at what a bust. Johnny foot ball, an entitled brat, look at him. Even Cutler, who has it all, still wants to do things his way.
To me, winston is too much Vince Young. I just wouldn’t make the investment, unless we have Maryland and UVA on the schedule.

  7. bucrightoff Says:

Cheated lol. Please. Doctoring the ball has been done by every team at some point in the last 15 years. Besides, our DBs jumping every route, which is what happened on every Gannon pick in that game, has nothing to do with doctoring the ball. This whole “controversy” is pretty ridiculous right now.

  8. Skyline Crew for Mariota or Winston Says:

I think it was stupid for him to come out and talk about paying people to doctor all 100 balls. He should have just kept his mouth shut.

  9. bucrightoff Says:

Maybe but this is ultimately going to make the NFL look bad for not doing this themselves for the last 15 years, as it probably will be now going forward.

  10. ADown88 Says:

    @Mike n

When have you ever heard anyone say that Jameis has bad work ethic!?!? Everything thing I hear is he is the first guy in last guy out type. And coaches buddy?? Sure him a Jimbo got along, what QB and head coach don’t get along and win a lot of games? Also, they used to yell at each other all the time, it wasn’t like Jimbo just let him do whatever he wanted. They both had a lot of passion.

Don’t even get me started on the Maryland and UAV comment… The guy won what, 26 straight?

I hate when people make ignorant comments.

Is there an iota of proof that Winston is anything but a hard worker? He’s a two-sport athlete who has maintained his grades to an honor roll level. I have yet to see any experts question his work ethic or competitive drive.

I’m at a loss to see any comparison to Vince Young at Texas, and Jameis at FSU. VW was an option runner who sometimes passed. Winston is not comparable to him as a player at all. What’s the connection between the two?

  12. Buccfan37 Says:

What is the marijuana signal he was giving? Putting the ends of your thumb and forefinger together and then to your lips while fake toking? Big freaking deal! Winston indulges, my kind of player. Draft this guy!

  13. Skyline Crew for Mariota or Winston Says:

Not to worried about the token signal as long as he doesn’t pop on the piss test.

  14. Skyline Crew for Mariota or Winston Says:

We already know he is moronic, however, FSU fans aren’t interested in his smarts…He just wins. haha

Seriously, if we draft this kid (young draftees don’t usually do well in the NFL from the beginning) I’m hoping that he fixes some of his mechanical issues. Not big ones, but significant enough to get him in trouble in the NFL. Now with that being said, I’m hoping he is already working on them and not waiting until he is drafted to figure this out. Maybe finding a specific coach that will train him the right way to throw and use all of his body versus just his arm.

  15. Cascade Says:

Swinging back to Mariota or trade-down today. Mariota is cleaner, less potential to be an outright bust. A lack of maturity is a HUGE red flag at the QB position. How many winning NFL QBs have demonstrated the poor judgement and blatant stupidity of Winston? Being a leader and setting an example are requirements for a successful QB. Mariota.

  16. MTM Says:

Ross brings up some valid points about Winston. If a franchise wants a QB that bad. They will hear what they want to hear and overlook transgressions they deem acceptable.

The NFL “experts” evaluating college QB prospects can not guarantee that once a player is under contract for a large amount of guaranteed money. Will that player have the fire in them to succeed and stay out of trouble. It’s the nature of the beast for a lot of players to become complacent or make poor decisions once the NFL checks start rolling in. The Bucs have had there fair share of this in free agency and the draft.

  17. Erik with CleanAthletics.com Says:

Haha, if Winston interviews for a job the way he interviews with the press or holds press conferences, he might not get drafted at all….. Mariota is the right pick

  27. Couch Fan Says:

You can’t forget the worst comparison to our old #5. Lol, that one is my personal favorite.

  28. Eric Says:

Wow, it just shows the level of hatred people have of this kid when they will make something out of that gesture he made while walking into the rose bowl.

    Just amazing.

Shows the power of the media. When they want to trash somebody they do.

  29. Erik with CleanAthletics.com Says:

Yea, Joe is right. People don’t want Winston bcuz he’s black…. SMH. How idiotic… This title applies to u guys as much as Winston. I don’t want Winston bcuz I don’t feel like I could trust him as far as I could throw him. Guaranteed the Glazers won’t draft him. And it doesn’t have anything to do withhis skin color.

  30. Skyline Crew for Mariota or Winston Says:

    Yes Eric,

It is hatred to say Winston was mimicking smoking a joint and throwing it away. That is idiotic. He made the gesture so what. Don’t make something up to try and cover this up as well. I don’t think anyone really cares he made the gesture just hope he doesn’t pop on a piss test.

  31. Skyline Crew for Mariota or Winston Says:

Just looked up ol’ Whitfield. He also coached Manziel so I’m not to excited about that.

  32. Snook Says:

You clearly don’t know what smoking a joint looks like if you think that is what Jameis is doing… People are so stupid.

  33. Skyline Crew for Mariota or Winston Says:

Nevermind: “No. 1 overall picks Cam Newton (2011) and Andrew Luck (2012), in addition to first-rounders EJ Manuel (2013) of Florida State, and fellow Heisman winner Johnny Manziel (2014) of Texas A&M are among the quarterbacks Whitfield has worked with.”

I guess Manziel and Manuel were his only failures. He did ok with the other two. Let’s see what happens.

  34. Snook Says:

If anything, the comparison to Cam Newton is more accurate.

Both actually got CAUGHT stealing in college. No other proven crimes other than that.

And Cam didn’t play in a pro style offense in college.

Would all these Winston haters be against drafting Newton because of his laptop theft at UF? I doubt it.

  35. Eric Says:

Whitfield also trained Andrew Luck before he went into the draft.

Naturally a Winston hater wouldn’t point that out.

It really is an amazing level of hatred.

    That “gesture” takes the cake.

  36. Skyline Crew for Mariota or Winston Says:

So have we signed Mariota yet?

  37. Skyline Crew for Mariota or Winston Says:

I did mention Luck. Must have posted it before you went on your hate rant.

  38. bucs4lyfe Says:

Wow this sounds really personal against this kid lol that’s even more pathetic than Winston behavior…… Winston just has to realize he’s the wrong color and he’ll never get a pass our be forgiven simply because he’s still going to end up a millionaire

  39. Skyline Crew for Mariota or Winston Says:

    @ Eric

Gesture: A gesture is a form of non-verbal communication or non-vocal communication in which visible bodily actions communicate particular messages, either in place of, or in conjunction with, speech. Gestures include movement of the hands, face, or other parts of the body.

Just posting because you seemed confused by the word.

  40. Erik with CleanAthletics.com Says:

Couch fan, u don’t think Winston and JFree have similarities? Wow, u r blind….. They’re overall skillsets are very similar, as is their size. And they both seem to love the party scene. Open your eyes.

  41. Skyline Crew for Mariota or Winston Says:

Is Manziel black? So, I’m confused how this has to do with race. Manziel got the same treatment. He just partied though, he didn’t accused of rape, stealing, or causing damage with a BB gun. To act like draftees don’t get scrutinized when coming to the NFL is ridiculous. All draftees will get scrutinized when you continue to do stupid stuff.

  42. IHateMarkDominik Says:

The Bucs are not drafting Winston.. Especially after he started crying like a little b!tch on the sidelines when Oregon was SPANKING them! Jameis Winston is probably as overrated as Ryan Leaf/JeMarcus Russell!

  43. bucrightoff Says:

Manziel is the most hated NFL player maybe ever. Race does not have anything to do with it.

  44. bucs4lyfe Says:

you idiots comparing jfree and Winston have issues…for that matter Winston is the same size as Philip rivers and Andrew luck and a bunch of other quarterbacks….idiots compare them because of their size how about the big difference of Winston losing one game in his college career versus freeman, how about Winston winning a Heisman and a national championship versus freeman not. how about Winston being a number 1 or 2 pick in the draft versus people saying the bucs reached for freeman at 17? idiots if you don’t like Winston because of your biased racist opinion then just say so but don’t come up with stupid comments like they are the same player even though they’ve had completely different college careers up to this point…damn the definition of a hater and you don’t even realize it, if you don’t like him then don’t like him that’s not hating but don’t come up with stupid opinions like comparing him to freeman because of size because just as many people think he should be first overall pick as they do mariotta but fans always know more than the people who do this for a living right

  45. Skyline Crew for Mariota or Winston Says:

    @bucs4lyfe,

If that is the case then you couldn’t compare any QBs because they are all different. Could I compare Winston to Tebow? He won a heisman and national championship. I couldn’t compare Winston to Luck because he didn’t win a heisman or national championship.

  46. HawaiianBuc Says:

“The Bucs are not drafting Winston.. Especially after he started crying like a little b!tch on the sidelines when Oregon was SPANKING them! Jameis Winston is probably as overrated as Ryan Leaf/JeMarcus Russell!”

    —-

Not sure exactly what you were watching. Winston was often seen trying to motivate his teammates. He was also one of the few FSU players that went over to shake hands with the Ducks after the game. He took the loss with a great deal of class, even though he was obviously upset they lost. Would you prefer him not be upset and be all smiles? It is truly amazing how some people have so much hatred for another person (which they’ve never even met), and they will twist things around to fit their agenda. Sad, truly sad.

  47. HawaiianBuc Says:

As for the race comment, a lot of you people are either in denial, or just plain lack comprehension skills. The issue is that he is CONSTANTLY compared to the likes of Jamarcus Russell and Vince Young – 2 players that are completely opposite as far as the way they play the game. Nobody is saying that he is hated because he is black, but he is being unfairly compared to the other guys because of his skin color.

As for the scrutiny he receives, that’s probably not a result of skin color. He provides the perfect combination of winning too much (people don’t like to see guys win too much) and doing stupid things off the field. Being black doesn’t help his cause, but for most people that’s probably not the big reason. It’s very naive to think it doesn’t at least play a small part.

  48. Love and Warrick Dunn Says:

“He was also one of the few FSU players that went over to shake hands with the Ducks after the game.”

Not aimed at you personally, Hawaiian. I have seen your full thoughts on Winston. But, I feel this fallacy needs to be cleared up. The refs asked the losing team to clear the field immediately to set up for the Championship ceremony.

There’s footage of Auburn doing the exact same thing last year. But, oddly, I never saw Kirk Herbstreit laying into them. So much misinformation out there.

Now, I wait for Winston haters to say he didn’t listen to the refs. LOL. #Jameiscan’twin.

  49. Todd Kiper Says:

Ironic that he calls Winston the moron in the context of that diatribe. As noted yesterday, it’s best to be thought an than to open your mouth and remove all doubt.

Seriously, I don’t have a problem with people criticizing Winston…..just make sure you have your facts straight.

  50. Tom S. Says:

He makes a duck call and gets called out for a marijuana signal. He knows someone who bets against FSU and he’s a point shaver. He has autographs at a sports shop, which are allegedly fakes, he gets accused of selling them for money. You know what has more credibility issues than Jameis Winston? The media.

what the hell are you talking about…..fine compare tebow to freeman because he’s out of the league lol something is seriously wrong with some of you. ok ok lol josh freeman and Winston are the same size same height and almost the same color so the must be similar quarterbacks, might as well throw marcus mariotta in the same category because he has the height and Heisman trophy too he is only lacking a few pounds in weight….because if freeman is lacking a winning college record, the stats and the Heisman and the national championship then tebow, mariotta, freeman and Winston are all the same quarterback….why is always the dense one that has a comment about something I say

  52. pick6 Says:

Tom S…..Best comment in weeks, very well put. it seems like if there are 2 ways to look at anything the kid does, the default is to assume that winston is the antichrist.

  53. Skyline Crew for Mariota or Winston Says:

How many of you make a duck call and throw it away? You don’t. He made a smoking weed sign. Everyone knows it. With that being said, it doesn’t bother me as long as he doesn’t pop on a piss test.

  54. Skyline Crew for Mariota or Winston Says:

    @bucs4lyfe

This is what you said “idiots compare them because of their size how about the big difference of Winston losing one game in his college career versus freeman, how about Winston winning a Heisman and a national championship versus freeman not. how about Winston being a number 1 or 2 pick in the draft versus people saying the bucs reached for freeman at 17? idiots if you don’t like Winston because of your biased racist opinion then just say so but don’t come up with stupid comments like they are the same player even though they’ve had completely different college careers up to this point”

In what you said is that you can’t compare people because their college career was different. That is stupid. Freeman and Winston have the same body type. People have compared Winston to Leaf as well, I didn’t hear you crying about that. Body size and arm strength are always comparable. Do they not say a college QB compares to a NFL QB in the fact that they are the same size and have same arm strength. Isn’t that why Winston gets compared to Big Ben because they are around the same size and both have a big arm. Mariota gets compared to Cap because of size and play style.

From what I can tell on this blog of a site is that FSU homers and Winston fan boys get their panties in a bunch when someone has something negative to say about Winston. It also has to be racist. So from now on nobody can use black players as a reference. We can only use white players. Everybody got it? Good.

  55. Todd Kiper Says:

@Skyline are you serious? FSU was getting ready to play Oregon. The team with the duck mascot.

  56. bucs4lyfe Says:

just for the record im not sure I want Winston….I’ve had enough of the talib’s and tanard jacksons and freemans to last a lifetime with this franchise, include dexter Jackson and all the other bargains we tried to get on players that dropped for questionable character. im at the point that if mariotta could sit for half a season then come in and I see flashes of a franchise quarterback in the making finally for once in the franchise then im on board…if lovie wants to draft Winston that is fine too but if he turns into a josh freeman then there’s no way lovie keeps his job for another year and everyone in the media and every fan should do whatever they can to make sure it happens because he is the one taking that risk and setting the franchise back

  57. HawaiianBuc Says:

    @Love and Warrick Dunn ,

Thanks for pointing that out. I had heard something about that, but wasn’t quite sure. Regardless, my point was he handled the loss with class. Don’t see how even the biggest Winston hater could say otherwise.

  58. armchairGM Says:

Regardless if he did or didn’t do anything, if we draft him we will continue to have to deal with witch hunts and overblown stories. Like Johnny Football he might have people (women) trying to bait him into situations. Not sure L&L want to deal with the mess the media will bring to Tampa and around Jameis.

  60. HawaiianBuc Says:

armchairGM does make a very good point, unfortunately. I do think Winston is going to perform much better in a small market like Tampa for that very reason. If we draft Winston, we will get coverage, but nothing like what the Jets, Cowboys, etc. would get if they drafted him. There’s no QB controversy like what Cleveland had, we all know Winston would start from day one. So although he will be unnecessarily scrutinized, there probably isn’t a team where the scrutiny will be less than Tampa.

  65. Buccfan37 Says:

  66. JFat Says:

This guy is right and Winston just seems immature and/or unaware at times, hopefully he is getting good advice from his agent/support system right now and is listening to it.

I watched a lot of clips today. If I had to make a comparison for Jameis I’d probably say Brett Favre. Absolute rifle for an arm, functionally mobile and aggressive as hell with the ball…they also have some women problems.

He needs to learn to throw to his check downs and not put his team in a hole and I think he’ll be alright. Still want Mariota but I’ll settle for Winston, although he should stop doing stupid $hit, even things that remotely resemble stupid $hit, immediately.

“I hope the Bucs do choose Winston if they decide a QB is totally the first pick. As far as his grade point average while at FSU, the university made sure his grades were up, nothing schools have’nt done for athletes since forever.”

    ——–

Yes, schools help athletes with their grades. However, they don’t put their grades up to a 3.6. If a school does care anything about academics, it’s strictly as to whether or not they graduate. It has absolutely nothing to do with GPA. If an athlete has a 3.6 GPA, then they earn it, period. You can argue all you want, probably because you don’t like the guy, but that would make you wrong.

  68. Nybucsfan Says:

Why would anyone think he has grown up? he is a dumb a$$. Accused rapist, theft, sexual slurs, shooting windows out, pretending to smoke pot, and signing memorabilia. All breaking the law or rules. Why would anyone take him first overall? He would be the most troubled 1 over all pick ever and he isn’t luck. If you think he is pro ready day one your a dumba$$. Name rookie QB that went to the playoffs in the last five year. The once who did where they running the read option? I believe they did. Has fisher ever had a QB go pro in the first round that was any good?

  69. HawaiianBuc Says:

    @Nybucsfan,

Wow, what a post! Talk about judging someone harshly, without any real knowledge. That’s shameful, and I would say that even if I didn’t want Winston. You seriously should read what you just wrote and feel embarrassed.

Peyton Manning is also an accused rapist. Do you feel the same about him? Unbelievable. Sexual slurs! Throw him in jail. I’m sure you’ve never said anything wrong in your entire life. Please teach me what it’s like to be perfect. And not the dreaded pretending to smoke pot!!! Oh my, let’s deport him! He should be executed for pretending. And by the way, when did signing memorabilia become against the rules? Pretty sure it’s 100% legal, as long as he didn’t make money from it, which of course has been proven was the case. But of course, you have an agenda to feed, so you are going to believe anything and everything you hear about the kid. Pretty pathetic, but we’ve all ready your posts, so we know exactly what’s up with you.

As for QB’s making the playoffs in the last 5 years, hell there were 3 from the same draft class genius! Nice job making yourself look stupid!

And finally, so your belief is that Fisher can’t make QB’s good, because he’s never had a great pro QB?? Hmmmm, okay, that sounds logical. Exactly how many coaches do you know that have had multiple great QB’s? That’s almost as stupid as saying Mariota can’t be good because no Oregon QB has ever been successful. Or how about the Bucs can’t win in cold weather because they never have.

If you don’t want Winston, more power to you. I’ve got no problem with that. In fact, I completely understand the logic. I’ve only very recently jumped over to his bandwagon. But your facts are skewed beyond the level of having your opinion taken seriously.

  70. Brandon Says:

Peyton Manning was never accused of rape.

Anyway, it’s pretty rare that a guy is a two sport star and maintains a 3.0+ GPA and is a moron. I doubt this is true.

  71. Warthog Says:

LOOOOOL if you think Winston made a ‘weed sign’ y’all are hilariously sheltered. I mean seriously anyone who has ‘been around’ knows that isn’t any recognisable gesture that relates to weed. He was goin duck huntin!

Im guessing you guys never went to college/a party/a rock concert before. Lol.

  72. Nybucsfan Says:

Do you think cause other people have been accused of rape it’s ok? I don’t understand your way of think that doesn’t make it justified. If you would be ok with your kids doing what jameis has done you have a real problem

    “Nybucsfan Says:

Do you think cause other people have been accused of rape it’s ok?”

I think that people get wrongly accused. I know, sadly, that women have lied about being raped. I think this is what happened. Luckily, he didn’t wind up getting wrongly convicted like Brian Banks did, only wrongly accused, like Duke Lacrosse, or the most recent UVA case.

  74. Walter White Says:

The refusal to accept accountability here is just baffling and quite honestly pathetic. Some of you choose to cling SO hard to this kid – this same kid who could have just as easily went after your sister or daughter, or stole crab legs from your mom or dad’s store, or shouted obscenities in front of your grandmother. Instead of accepting reality you actively choose to make excuses. “Ah, he’s just a kid.” Really? Are you Jameis supporters suggesting that rape and theft are wrong – but only if it’s not by your favorite home town college QB? Think about how ridiculous that even sounds.

I realize we that never truly “know” these guys and they are all less than perfect, but how someone could swipe their credit card for $70 for a Jameis Winston Bucs jersey to adorn the back of their 9 year old, or 12 or 15 year old or whatever, the same child they surely have taught to know the things this 21 year old thug doesn’t know, how someone could support this piece of trash is just incomprehensible – regardless of how many TDs he throws.

Remember Chris Henry? Bengals WR. Google him. Dude had undeniable talent. But he was a thug. I was living in Cincinnati at the time and he came into a store I worked at. Dressed like a thug, talked like a thug, acted like a thug. I couldn’t believe that a “professional” athlete could carry himself like that in public no less. Well, you can Wikipedia the details but he ended up falling out of a truck driven by his girl after a fight… (he died) you just don’t hear stories like this about Andrew Luck, Aaron Rodgers, Peyton Manning, Tom Brady, Drew Brees, etc. You just don’t!!!

Why would you want this garbage? It’s nonsense! This #1 pick could and should be used to give our team a new start. To spark the beginning of our success – not to light a stick of dynamite and toss it aimlessly. The only thing he’s guaranteed to do is ruin us, or whatever team is dumb enough to associate themselves with this idiot.

    C’mon guys. Wake up.

  75. Love and Warrick Dunn Says:

“Are you Jameis supporters suggesting that rape and theft are wrong”

She wanted the anaconda, sorry that you can’t accept that.

And you’re right. Theft is wrong. And, he took the fall for a long known reality of FSU players getting free food at Publix. And you are joking yourself if you think it doesn’t happen in other college towns.

    http://thebiglead.com/2014/05/01/marcellus-wiley-suggests-jameis-winston-took-fall-for-florida-state-players-getting-free-food/

And, if anyone’s granny is on a college campus, that’s far from the worst thing she will hear.

    Put down the pitchfork.

  77. Nybucsfan Says:

No judge ever said not guilty. Just a lack of evidence to charge. Could the Tallahassee Police Department covered it up maybe. Could FSU covered it up maybe.he could still end up in a civil suit which could be dragged on for years. The quarterback supposed to be the smartest guy in the field I’m not so sure he cuts it

  78. HawaiianBuc Says:

“Do you think cause other people have been accused of rape it’s ok?” If you would be ok with your kids doing what jameis has done you have a real problem

    ——–

I could give a damn if someone is accused of rape. I only care if they actually raped someone. I learned first hand in college that there are women out there that will accuse men of rape, when what happened was far from a rape.

As for my kids, Jameis isn’t my kid. What a stupid statement.

  79. HawaiianBuc Says:

“No judge ever said not guilty. Just a lack of evidence to charge.”

    ——-

Oh my, you just keep going don’t you. Do you seriously not understand that not enough evidence to charge is in reality better than a not guilty verdict?

To say that it might have been covered up shows your true colors. You are grasping at whatever you can to hold on to your witch hunt.

  80. Love and Warrick Dunn Says:

“No judge ever said not guilty.”

In the case of Brian Banks, a judge actually said he was guilty. He winds up rotting in a cell for 5 years before the girl got recorded admitting her lies.

If your passion for any actual truth were even a minute fraction of your passion to hate, you would have read the 200+ page report with all the drug tests, and HER OWN FRIENDS directly contradicting her multiple versions of events (of Winston, his witnesses, her witnesses, and her, hers was only version that changed, and it was at least 5 differing accounts) and all the other readily available evidence. But, you clearly hate him so much that you won’t even accept the POSSIBILITY that she is lying. Admit that.

Remember me when that civil suit on him never comes. She couldn’t win when she had every advantage in her favor, as these Code of Conduct hearings are styled. In a court of law, where she would be deposed by opposing counsel and subpoenas would be in effect? Won’t ever happen.

  81. Nybucsfan Says:

I would say I’m in touch with reality.I would say you have your head buried in the sand. Statistically 92% of the accused rape are true.that is a fact.i’m not saying he did it I’m saying it’s not worth the risk.it’s not just the accused rape it’s the other dumb things that he’s done. It’s either he’s too dumb to know right and wrong or he doesn’t care about anything but himself

  82. HawaiianBuc Says:

I think it’s both hilarious and scary how some people can judge someone so confidently, when they’ve never even met him. Who the hell are you to judge someone else? Who are you to call someone trash?

I have no idea what kind of a person he is. I’ve never met him either. He’s done some dumb things that if I were the Bucs I would do some heavy research on. I would find out everything about him. I would talk to every person that has ever met him. I’m not making any excuses for those things. All that being said, what I have seen of the kid, I like. If you can’t see that he is the CLEAR leader of that team, then you are an idiot. If you can’t see that they rally around him, then you’ve got problems. I saw him throw a pick, then chase after the interceptor and force him to fumble. I saw his RB fumble on the goal line, then saw him dive in head first to try to get the ball. I saw him go up to his RB and pat him on the head after he fumbled the ball twice. Those are all qualities I want in my QB.

If you don’t feel comfortable with his off the field stuff, fine. I get it, and I don’t blame you for it. However, to call him trash is pathetic on your part, and you should be ashamed. Funny thing is, I would bet my house you same people are the ones who did stupid sh!t throughout your younger years.

  83. HawaiianBuc Says:

“Statistically 92% of the accused rape are true.”

    ——-

Okay, now you’ve done done it. That is a completely BS fact. How in the hell could you even prove that? Anything you could possibly say from this moment on cannot be taken seriously. You’re a joke, and I feel sorry for you.

  84. HawaiianBuc Says:

“Sometimes you got to realize your wife’s not coming back. Your son is gay, and Winston is an embarrassment. #Denial #RedFlags”

    ———

Says the same guy who has made more racist comments on this site than I can even remember. Someone here is in denial, but it isn’t Joe.

  85. StPeteBucsFan Says:

Wow another thread where anybody who expresses concern over Jameis well documented transgressions is called a hater. WTF is wrong with you guys?

As for the racial component can any of you name a white player that is comparable to Jameis or Newton or Young or Jamarcus. A big man beast who can truck linebackers and throw it through a wall. What white QB matches that description? Seriously!

What white QB can run over linebackers? Ryan Leaf? We could compare him to Tim Tebow who could clearly truck a linebacker but Tebow has none of Jameis throwing skills.

  86. Nybucsfan Says:

There you go Hawaiian http://web.stanford.edu/group/maan/cgi-bin/?page_id=297. And hey your a classy guy love the way you talk to people hard to believe your a Winston fan. FYI could careless what you call me so if it makes you feel better about yourself go for it. Didn’t know we where on here talk about me.

  87. Nybucsfan Says:

Wait the people at Stanford are joke.please disregard whatever they say

  88. HawaiianBuc Says:

    @Nybucsfan,

WINSTON WASN’T CHARGED!!!!! THEREFORE, THE PERCENTAGE DOESN’T APPLY TO HIM!! I hate writing in all caps, but maybe that will help you, because you are a little slow.

So in your delusional world, just a woman saying she was raped means that it happened 98% of the time? LMAO. You’re a fool.

  89. HawaiianBuc Says:

And I hate to be the grammar police, because I’ve screwed up on that many many times, but your writing is very very hard to even understand. There’s literally multiple errors in every sentence you write. Half the time I don’t even know what you’re trying to say. Maybe you are going to fast, so slow down.

  90. Nybucsfan Says:

There you go being a classy guy again. the article was about false accusations. Did you not get that who is the fool? I don’t care what you think. can lead a horse to water. I’m done with you I could careless if you choose to ignore his past. FYI I never been in trouble never robbed crab legs never shot windows out never stood on a table and yelled about doing things to women in front of women and def not racist But I’m sure your right everyone else that doesn’t like Winston prolly has.

  91. Mr. Patrick Says:

It appears to me that the majority of people on here want the Bucs to draft Winston either because he’s from FSU or because he’s Black. With exactly the same numbers and stats would you still be banging his drum so hard if he were a Gator or a Caucasion? Just curious

  92. Nybucsfan Says:

And the grammar I’m on my phone so I apologize

  93. Eric Says:

You can’t fight hate with hate. Only love.

    Martin Luther King

    Go Jameis Winston.

  94. HawaiianBuc Says:

    @Mr. Patrick,

I’m a Gator fan FYI. I want us to draft him because I think he’s the best QB available, and I don’t think it’s particularly close. Winston is going to be a great pro in my opinion. He’s got everything you want in a QB (on the field of course). You can read a bunch of negative things about him (which may or may not be true), but you can also read just as much information about him being a great guy, hard worker, great teammate, etc. It’s all a matter of what you want to believe. I’ve always said that the Bucs need to do their homework. If they do their homework and determine that these character issues are indeed worrisome, then I don’t want us to draft him. But I choose to give him the benefit of the doubt, and let the Bucs do the real work. Others choose to convict the kid for anything and everything possible. I don’t understand why, but to each his own.

And yes, if he were white and put up the kind of numbers (and record) he put up, I would want him just as much. He won the damn Heisman as a freshman, running a pro style offense!! That’s never happened before. His sophomore year wasn’t as great, but by most QB standards, it was still a great season. Bottom line is they went through the regular season undefeated, and he made the plays when he had to. He’s a winner, and we need that in Tampa. Time will tell if it translates, but I like the chances.

  95. HawaiianBuc Says:

    @NyBucsfan,

Cool. I wasn’t trying to be a d!ck about that, but I really was having a hard time understanding what you were writing.

  96. HawaiianBuc Says:

    @NyBucsfan,

I’m going to quote from the article you posted: “Only about 2% of all rape and related sex charges are determined to be false, ”

Read it one more time, now another. If you still don’t get it, I’d suggest one last time. You can’t point to the title of an article, then give a stat that isn’t the same as the title.

What the hell are you talking about me thinking everyone is a racist if they don’t like him? There are tons of people on this site that don’t want him, and I’ve got no problem with them. We debate it, have fun, and move on. I have a problem with people calling him “trash” or a “thug”. I don’t even want everyone to agree we should draft Winston. That’s the whole point in this site!!! But some of you go over the top, and you are one of them. Obviously you are so blinded by hate that you can’t figure it out, so that’s on you.

  97. Eric Says:

Back in a day not so long ago they would have just taken Jameis in the woods for a lynching if a white girl accused him of assaulting her.

No trials no lawyers no due process.

Seems to me many of you are not far removed from that mentality. Why else would u continue to refer to the rape allegation when he has been cleared three times. The last by a retire supreme court justice?

    Sad thing to see.

  98. Love and Warrick Dunn Says:

    “Nybucsfan Says:
    January 21st, 2015 at 9:12 pm

There you go Hawaiian http://web.stanford.edu/group/maan/cgi-bin/?page_id=297. ”

The Stanford report cites an FBI report as it’s data source. The FBI reports have been reported as widely inaccurate. :

FBI reports from 1996 consistently put the number of “unfounded” rape accusations around 8%. In contrast, the average rate of unfounded reports for “Index crimes” tracked by the FBI is 2%.[15]

However, “unfounded” is not synonymous with false allegation. Bruce Gross of the Forensic Examiner says that:

This statistic is almost meaningless, as many of the jurisdictions from which the FBI collects data on crime use different definitions of, or criteria for, “unfounded.” That is, a report of rape might be classified as unfounded (rather than as forcible rape) if the alleged victim did not try to fight off the suspect, if the alleged perpetrator did not use physical force or a weapon of some sort, if the alleged victim did not sustain any physical injuries, or if the alleged victim and the accused had a prior sexual relationship. Similarly, a report might be deemed unfounded if there is no physical evidence or too many inconsistencies between the accuser’s statement and what evidence does exist. As such, although some unfounded cases of rape may be false or fabricated, not all unfounded cases are false.[3]

  99. Todd Kiper Says:

@Walter White Wow! You are outstanding at conjecture, hyperbole and just plain lies.

Just as easily go after your sister or daughter? Again, the evidence is clear that he had consentual sex with a girl who was more than willing to go home with him and even called friends to see if they wanted to go along. You make it sound like he was done predator hiding in the bushes.

Stole crab legs from your mom and dad’s store? Not hardly the same as getting a hookup that every player in Tallahassee had available and….don’t kid yourself, the same goes on in every college town. So, by your standards, no one is draft worthy.

Just as easily shouted vulgarities at your grandmother. How do you draw the parallel between that and participating in a meme that half the student union…all college aged kids were doing?

Admit it. You are just a bitter Gator fan. Get over it and stop making crisp up.

  100. HawaiianBuc Says:

Can’t wait to see NyBucs fan response to this. However, my money is on him disappearing, or waiting a day when the thread has died.

  101. Love and Warrick Dunn Says:

Also, it’s awesome that you tout the Stanford name, like it was some sort of involved study by a renowned Professor, when instead, its appears to be a web posting from an on-campus group called “Men Against Abuse Now”.

But, hey, it’s got Stanford in the website name, right?

  102. Nybucsfan Says:

I seen the whole thing you are quoting one line. There is more there than the one line. I personally think the FBI and Stanford are as good as any other sources. I’m not going to argue with you. I think he lies and i think he is no good because of his own actions. Maybe if he did repeatedly get in troble it would be easier to believe him. He clearly doesn’t care or he would use his head. If you wanna over look the things he has done its on you.

  103. Rays8Jenningsfan Says:

    @Hawaianbucfan

If you’re such a big Gator’s fan, did you watch the God awful game Winston had against them? Against an abysmal defense with serious work-ethic issues? And they still picked him off four times.

That would be like throwing eight interceptions in the NFL.

  104. Todd Kiper Says:

@ Love and Warrick Dunn great points on that Stanford study link. People like to throw that around like it’s the gospel….it’s far from scientific and is more accurately agenda driven and purposely misleading.

It’s kind of like the Department of Labor touting the decrease in unemployment without noting the record numbed of people who dropped out of the work force due to less available jobs, lower wages and more welfare.

    Context matters.

  105. Lou. Says:

    I’VE GOT IT!

Let’s not take Jameis. With the first pick of the 2015 draft, the Tampa Bay Buccaneers draft . . .

    Wait for it . . .

The woman Jameis got it on with!

    You know, the accused perjurer.

    No character issues there.

    No talent, either.

    Pun intended.

  106. HawaiianBuc Says:

    @Rays8Jenningsfan,

Yes I saw it. I also saw who won the game. Even the greats have bad games. I would argue that the Gators defense is far from abysmal, but that’s really not the point. You should never judge a player on one game, good or bad. He didn’t win the Heisman by being a bad QB, nor was he bad as they went undefeated.

  107. Love and Warrick Dunn Says:

” I personally think the FBI and Stanford are as good as any other sources”

It clearly explains why the numbers you quoted are inaccurate. The Stanford site wasn’t even a source. They merely referenced the FBI numbers.

  108. Mr. Patrick Says:

    @ Hawaiian
Your points are well taken, but I’ll stick by my observation.
I’m actually a major FSU fan and have been ever since they hired Bobby Bowden away from WVU where I’m from. However, I’m also a major Bucs fan and I want them to do what is best for the team. I’ve seen Winston play many times, watched him on the sidelines and during warm-ups and I just don’t want to see that here. I still have a lot of friends in Tally and they keep me informed of everything they hear and see. I keep hearing from people there that I trust that there is a lot that goes on with him that gets swept under the rug and never goes public. The word on campus is that Winston was seriously considering staying for another year but FSU told him that once the civil suit that the alleged victum filed against FSU goes to court and all of the happenings start getting re-hashed again that it would be best if he wasn’t around. Why do you think he announced that he was entering the draft 90 minutes before the suit was officially filed? Plus, if the alleged victum files a civil suit against Winston after he signs his rookie deal then everything gets publically re-hashed again while he’s on the roster. It’s hard to learn how to play in the NFL when you have to spend so much time in and preparing for court. Plus, who’s to say that he won’t do something else stupid again? I know he has some talent, even though a little overrated, but you have to look at the entire picture, and I just don’t think the Bucs want the circus continually coming to town. I just really want what’s best for my team and I just don’t think that drafting Winston is it. I could be wrong, and if they do draft him I hope that I am. But that’s my opinion and I’m entitled to it just like every single person on here is entitled to theirs. GO BUCS!

  109. lurker Says:

go bucs! draft winston to finally win some.

  110. lurker Says:

“That would be like throwing eight interceptions in the NFL.”

love that made up correlation, thanks.

  111. lurker Says:

hopefully the buc’s investigators talk to your sources to get all sides. maybe you can send their names to the front office.

  112. Mr. Patrick Says:

    @ lurker
That’s probably a very good idea. Thanks

  113. Todd Kiper Says:

@Mr. Patrick I’m calling BS. I live in Tally, am a long time Booster and alum, have friends and family in several different departments and nothing you said is accurate.

  114. grafikdetail Says:

you have to take chances on elite players if you think they can help you win even w/ questionable character… i bet a few of you were pissed the bucs picked up future hall of famer warren sapp too lol

You can call whatever you want. You may want to Google “Denial”

  116. 87ForJameisNoMariota Says:

Mr. Patrick …I call BS too as I have nephews that go to FSU and they say the exact opposite to you are saying.

And another thing…Winston won’t see the inside of a court room. I’m pretty sure his lawyers can handle a civil suit without him there.

You say you’ve been an FSU fan since 1976 because Bowden was the coach. I smell more BS.

  117. 87ForJameisNoMariota Says:

You know what I like the most about you Winston bashers. Your comments are so venomous. You talk about the guy like he doesn’t deserve to be picked in the top 5, like he’s just garbage. Yet most “experts’ agree he will be picked within the top 5 picks in the draft. It’s only the fools that come on here everyday and trash him that don’t understand why those “experts” (former NFL players)say the kid has all the tools.

It’s going to be hilarious watching you all eat your words once this kid hits the NFL regardless if the Bucs take him or not.

Oh and I’m back to taking names down…then you all can just change your name after the draft. Yes, yes…I’m taking names.

Careful how much venom you spit at this kid, he might be OUR next QB.

    Taking names…yep taking names.

  120. pick6 Says:

@NYBucsfan, you are missing the key distinction in the fact you offered up. half of the allegations result in charges. of those half, apparently 98% of the accused are found to be guilty. it is not clear in the half of cases that do not go to trial (by definition, because it is not clear that a crime has occurred), what percentage are clearly false accusations, what percentage come down to a he said\she said, and what percentage were clearly sexual assault and there was no justice. to lump the likelihood of one group’s guilt in with the other is to dismiss the work that the entire legal system goes through to determine whether to prosecute a crime. The FBI is not saying 98% of all ACCUSATIONS are correct, they are saying 98% of the situations where they have looked at the available information and determined that sexual assault has occured, the accused has been found guilty. Winston never had a chance to enter any part of that statistical pool with clarity due to decision made by TPD at the time the incident was reported. facts are dangerous when misinterpreted

  121. pick6 Says:

also, i have never used a duck call in my life but i can tell you if that was a joint he was mimicking he has either never held a joint in his life (good news) or he is already getting paid NFL money by somebody and smokes joints that are bigger than cigars (very bad news)
