Bucs At Bills, Open Thread

Join the fun in the comments section all through the game

The Bucs have their last dress rehearsal for the starters, or who they think will be starters, at 4:30 p.m. in Buffalo. Of particular interest is how the Bucs offensive line does against one of football’s better front sevens. How far along the offensive line likely will be revealed this afternoon.

Joe has a hunch there will be players picked up off the waiver wire after cutdown day later this week, as teams trim their rosters to the mandated 75 after the third preseason game.

Bang it here with your comments early and often. The game is nationally televised live on NFL Network, so for folks who are out of the Tampa Bay area, there should be no need for illegal video streaming of the game.

can we get anything out of this damn offense
Today? As i said before were gonna find alot out
    tonight!

  2. BoondockBuc Says:

    BUC’EM up!!!
What to see the bills scared of our D by the end.
Offense needs to give me glimpse of what’s to come.
    Both lines need to dominate.
That’s my wish for the game.

  3. BoondockBuc Says:

    @77

I’m with ya bass man. I understand the cloak over the offense but want to see something. Heard someone day they been watching offense and they haven’t seen any of the dynamic plays in games they have in practice. Just give me 2 and I’m good

  4. Tackleblockwin Says:

    Eyes on:

    Oline, McCown, Defensive Ends.

  5. rush Says:

I’d like to see Glennon with the 1’s

  6. TheShaz Says:

    Boondock:

Is it a “Cloak” over the offense or is it a tarp covering up a busted hulk of a car with 50% of its parts missing?

  7. jb Says:

I just hope we look better than the Panthers did last night!
They looked okay the first couple of series, then their weaknesses started to show. I hope we can get a good 3 solid quarters outta these guys and have no severe injuries.

  8. BoondockBuc Says:

    Shaz

Hopefully the cloak but if the tarp hope Lovie a damn good mechanic.

  9. phreakybucfan Says:

All the posts and comments up until now have been mostly speculative and all in good fun. Now we get 3 quarters of meat and taters to discuss. Go Bucs!

  10. kirk Says:

I’m still wondering what happened to the guy who ran onto the field last week. Anyone know the penalties for pulling a stunt like that?

  11. 77 bassman Says:

    The shaz

    Great analogy!!

  12. jackso101 Says:

Who Wins tonight? We better come out playing

  13. BucPuck Says:

Anyone know if both NBC locally and NFL Network will show the game or will one be blacked out. Trying to set the DVR

  14. Buccfan37 Says:

Are you ready for some feetball, or is it handball? Go Bucs!

  15. Mort Says:

Guys, they aren’t going to show off everything about the new offense, they are trying to beat Carolina, not buffalo. They’ll do some things to evaluate but not to try to out-scheme the bills.

Either way it’s going to be fun. Got the DVR set and till I can make it home I have Sirius fired up.

  16. BuccaneerBonzai Says:

    Channel 8 really, REALLY sucks.

  17. BucinNC Says:

All white unis look pretty good. My favorite was red jersey white pant

  18. BuccaneerBonzai Says:

Lovie already said they care more about getting to see bubble players do their thing to help make decisions. We’ll see starters, but after the first quarter they’ll probably rotate them in and out a lot.

  19. BuccaneerBonzai Says:

Frankly, I think finding the right guys is more important than showing the offense and winning this game.

  20. Buc fan south Tampa Says:

In Orlando , nfl network screen is black. Is this game being shown or what?

  21. Buccfan37 Says:

What is it with these ugly striped shirts on the coaching staff again? Each team is wearing their color version of them. Dictates from on high. Ugly!

  22. Bawlmerbucfan Says:

I agree BucinNC…the uniforms look good!

  23. BuccaneerBonzai Says:

    Nice!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  24. lurker Says:

    the hawk

  25. BuccaneerBonzai Says:

NFL Network schedule in Tampa says Tampa Bucs, but is showing pitt vs eagles.

    Glad I’m in Bradenton.

  26. Jason Says:

wow these announcers are GARBAGE. I know they’re Buffalo announcers, but at least know what the heck you’re talking about.
“Da’Quan Bowers with the pressure” ummm, nope.

  27. BuccaneerBonzai Says:

    Nice oline play! NOT!

  28. Kevin1 Says:

Well that was a great first possession. Good job offense

  29. Gt40bear Says:

Impressive opening drive by the offense!

  30. Jason Says:

Bah, they gave Josh about 4-5 seconds, he’s got to get the ball out quicker than that.

  31. DallasBuc Says:

McCown being McCown…this guy needs to be better than awful

  32. BuccaneerBonzai Says:

@Jason, you must be watching another network than me. I’m hearing Ronde.

  33. Jason Says:

    BucBonzai
Yeah, I’m watching it on NFL Network. I live out in Utah (born and raised in Tampa, though), so it’s the only way.

  34. TAC Says:

    geezus, herre we go.

    Defense may win a few.

  35. lurker Says:

“needs to be better than awful”

that’s the story of our team, in general

  36. Kevin1 Says:

Asking Mcown to be awful is a little much isn’t it? That ceiling maybe a little too high.

  37. Phillip Says:

Anyone know what Casillas did to violate team rules? Not a good start to the offense either…

Can we get PA for ONCE on 1st down? Shoot we have been running the ball on first down for the past 5 years it seems… Should work lol

  38. BuccaneerBonzai Says:

God, how about a little team pride, morons.

  39. Buc fan south Tampa Says:

Anyone know why NFL network is not showing the game?

  40. RealityCheck Says:

    It’s just preseason, right!?!?

  41. Phillip Says:

Ugh there’s PA and he doesn’t throw the damn ball!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  42. Jason Says:

Ha, ask and ye shall receive, Phillip LOL

  43. BuccaneerBonzai Says:

Okay, that was all on Josh.

  44. Bangkok Buc Says:

Wow. Our offender could be worse than last year. Is freeman available still?

  45. DallasBuc Says:

    Int McCown. Wow. Terrible

  46. Frank87 Says:

Can we get a QB not named Josh in there??

  47. Jason Says:

    Ugh.
And holding on Cousins, to boot.

  48. Couch Fan Says:

Another turnover… Ill take the statue over turnovers any day.

  49. Gt40bear Says:

Gonna be a long LONG year! Maybe we can get JF 5 back. JK

  50. RealityCheck Says:

    McCown is a joke.

  51. Kevin1 Says:

Mccown sucks. That settles it. Anyone who disagrees has no eyeballs and I will not be able to have an intelligent conversation with you due to a lack of a brain.

  52. Bangkok Buc Says:

    Hahaha. Defence!!!!!!

  53. Jason Says:

Not on Josh, Myers fell down on the route.

    Aaaand another turnover.

  54. Phillip Says:

Alright well the defense can make plays when the opposing offense is this sloppy thats nice to know I guess…

    Come on McCown.. seriously MECHANICS

  55. Gt40bear Says:

Ok, get the high school kids off the field, I expected pros!

  56. DallasBuc Says:

    Defense saves McCowns ass again!

  57. Jason Says:

Nice run up the gut by Martin. Take some pressure off Josh

  58. BuccaneerBonzai Says:

Wow. Nice turnover and nice run by the hamster!

  59. RealityCheck Says:

At least our defense will help as stay somewhat competitive this year. Buc ball for sure.

  60. Jerseybucsfan Says:

    The broadcaster sucks!

  61. Jason Says:

and that was Cousins who blew that block so Martin was tackled
    Geez

  62. Phillip Says:

    WHO CAN’T CATCH!?!?!?!?!?

  63. Jason Says:

    BOOM TOUCHDOWN!

  64. DallasBuc Says:

    Great run by Martin! TD

  65. Couch Fan Says:

    Finally! POINTS!! WOOOO… Good job.

  66. Jerseybucsfan Says:

Who said martin can’t catch. Good catch and run

  67. BuccaneerBonzai Says:

    Not a TD.

  68. Gt40bear Says:

    More like it!

  69. Bill T Says:

    Nice, Martin!

  70. Jason Says:

Don’t think? Looked like he bounced off the defender and didn’t hit the ground… no?

  71. DallasBuc Says:

    Bonzai- have some pride!

  72. BuccaneerBonzai Says:

I thought he rolled over the tackler at first, but his knee did touch the ground.

  73. BuccaneerBonzai Says:

    lol, Dalas, I do 🙂

Just don’t think the ruling will go our way.

  74. Mitch Says:

That was a TOUCHDOWN TAMPA BAY!!! Yeah son!!!!

  75. BuccaneerBonzai Says:

    Told ya, Dallas.

  76. Jason Says:

    Bonzai with the call 🙂

  77. DallasBuc Says:

    Damn! So close

  78. BucinNC Says:

Warhop brings his boy from Cleveland. Cleveland!!! No thanks. Thankfully our defense is legit. Mccown isn’t special and looks hesitant. Once the play book opens up it’ll look a lot better but we need qb next year. And o line. And maybe Greg hardy

  79. Jason Says:

    FB in the game 🙂

  80. BuccaneerBonzai Says:

Butt touched, not knee. Either way, we got the TD on the next play!

  81. Bangkok Buc Says:

    Got it that time.

  82. Phillip Says:

    @Joe

You know anything about the casillas situation?

  83. BuccaneerBonzai Says:

That was decent offense. Lovie did say they wanted to work on the running game for the oline.

Get that in line and the passing will follow.

  84. DallasBuc Says:

Martin looks terrific. I don’t know if I would leave him in too much longer.

  85. BuccaneerBonzai Says:

    @DallasBuc
    I agree.

  86. Phillip Says:

What a crappy quality on this Orlando area network… So cheap they don’t even have the first down line on the screen lol

  87. LUVMYBUCS Says:

    Defense looks solid

  88. Phillip Says:

Nice route former Buc who didn’t get into a fight outside a nightclub in March 🙂

  89. deminion Says:

    Is Verner playing?

  90. Jason Says:

    @Phillip

Better than the NFL network and the Buffalo announcers. They don’t know our inactives, and slam our TE who slipped on the interception with the comment “Well I walked out there pre-game and the field seemed fine to me” Idiots.
Then their WR Woods slipped and they seemed confused

  91. Phillip Says:

    Ya Left CB

  92. DallasBuc Says:

McCoy always looks like he is offsides with his quick burst. Insane!

  93. Jason Says:

McDonald with pressure! Nice to see someone else get pressure other than 93

  94. Phillip Says:

    @Jason

lol that’s why they are only for the pre-season trying to get them seasoned enough to maybe move to a big network for local games during the season.. 3rd or 4th player to slip already…

  95. BuccaneerBonzai Says:

Page might have competition on returns. Maybe. Patton might earn punt return duty. Page on KR.

  96. Phillip Says:

Alright Martin has had enough… 127 attempts in what 6 games? WTF Schiano and Sully wanted to kill the kid?

  97. Jason Says:

Man, Doug is doing work between the tackles. Good blocking, good running.

  98. BuccaneerBonzai Says:

Well, Martin is doing great. Would like to see SOME passing.

  99. DallasBuc Says:

I can’t believe people were down on Martin. He is a stud

  100. Gt40bear Says:

Nice block by Omameh but get out of the way son!

  101. BuccaneerBonzai Says:

    There it is!

  102. Jason Says:

Don’t look now, but we’re establishing some offensive rhythm

  103. Phillip Says:

    Bench that scrub Cousins

  104. Phillip Says:

Come on EDS 2 holding calls in the 1st?

  105. DallasBuc Says:

    Spoke too soon Jason

  106. BuccaneerBonzai Says:

Punter pinned them back again. Great job!

  107. Andres Says:

    I’ve seen enough Mccown.

  108. Jason Says:

Ha, I know my bad, I jinxed ’em

  109. Bawlmerbucfan Says:

I can’t believe I’m actually considering picking up the Bucs D for my fantasy team.

  110. Jason Says:

Hahaha love the Buffalo fans already booing their team 😀 Nice to know Tampa fans aren’t the only uber-finicky fans

  111. Jason Says:

    Barron with the excellent tackle!

  112. Buc fan south Tampa Says:

    @jason
What Orlando channel is showing the game?

  113. Jason Says:

Clayborn had pressure… someone tell Realist

  114. Phillip Says:

    @Bawlmer

Been drafting them in all my drafts and mocks.. Gonna be a nice solid D for this season

    Mike Williams AGAIN! 🙂

  115. Jason Says:

    @ Buc fan south Tampa

I have no idea, I’m watching it on NFL Network (I live in Utah)

  116. DallasBuc Says:

Great catch by Mike Williams. Damn I hate to see him playing for someone else.

  117. Gt40bear Says:

Way too many defenders on the ground! Think different shoes are in order!

  118. Jason Says:

    SAPP jr!!

  119. Phillip Says:

    1027 on Brighthouse HD

  120. Phillip Says:

Or TV27HD if you have some other provider

  121. Bird Says:

How bad is oniel cousins. Wow

  122. Couch Fan Says:

3rd and 40! lmao. not sure I’ve seen that before

  123. DallasBuc Says:

Can’t stand these Bufallo announcers on NFLN.

  124. Bawlmerbucfan Says:

Phillip….I’ll follow your fantasy lead then. We should at least be able to put up big points against the lousy Carolina offense in Week One.

  125. Jason Says:

Wow their punter (Moorman) is not having a good day

  126. BuccaneerBonzai Says:

I hope to see more 3rd and 40s for our defense throughout the season! Bills fans booing!

  127. BucinNC Says:

    Bawlmerbuc

Good pick first two weeks of the season. Although, I do like to rotate defenses, I think bucs will us well early on.

Also drafted mike Evans. Riley cooper and Ty Hilton. Who should I play as my flex?

  128. Jason Says:

    @DallasBuc

    YES completely agree

  129. Gt40bear Says:

Nice stop but I would like to see Johnson use more than just an outside speed rush. Just continues to run himself out of the play!

  130. LUVMYBUCS Says:

    This turf is terrible

  131. DallasBuc Says:

Ok these guards are effing terrible!

  132. Broy3434 Says:

I’m gona say one thing. Should Rainey/James still start over Martin. Ya drink that reality. How’s it taste

  133. Frank87 Says:

Predictable offense, is this the mystery we been waiting for?

  134. LUVMYBUCS Says:

    More guards please

  135. DallasBuc Says:

    First nice pass by McCown.

  136. Phillip Says:

TY and its not close unfortunately lol

I’m a huge FF guy.. I got to meet Matthew Berry thursday night up at ESPN Orlando radio station.. Signed my book and took some pictures and got a private meet and greet

  137. Couch Fan Says:

    Nice run

  138. DallasBuc Says:

…and terrible pass by McCown. Ugh

  139. Phillip Says:

How can you expect him to catch that?! it was not only behind him but at his hip?

  140. BuccaneerBonzai Says:

    Demps???? Sigh.

Rainey is sucking too. Glad they took out MArtin.

  141. BuccaneerBonzai Says:

Ran it to try the field goal.

  142. Phillip Says:

Ugh seriously we just played it safe to see a field goal battle? what the hell are the 3rd and 4th quarters for?

  143. lightningbuc Says:

Please put Demps out of his misery! He is NOT an NFL player.

  144. BuccaneerBonzai Says:

    Rookie kicker. Score!

  145. DallasBuc Says:

Bonzai- that was a bad pass to a wide opens Demps. Don’t put that on him!

  146. Phillip Says:

I’d love to see any RB catch that pass.. Not on Demps if you know you got the fastest guy in the NFL then throw it front of him…

  147. Jason Says:

rookie kicker? That’s Connor Barth, he’s back from his injury last year.

  148. BuccaneerBonzai Says:

    @DallasBuc

I admit the pass wasn’t great, but Demps should not be in with the starters anyway. He should not even be in the game.

  149. Touch_Down_Tampa_Bay Says:

TV and radio are in sync. AWESOME!
There is nothing like watching the game while GENE DECKERHOF calls it!

  150. Mumbles Says:

QB and a left guard and we’re on our way! Lol

  151. BuccaneerBonzai Says:

    Jason Says
    “rookie kicker?”

Announcer said it was Patrick before the kick. Blame him 😉

  152. RealityCheck Says:

I guess we know what our 3rd and long call will be this season. We wouldn’t want to try and throw it to one of our monster receivers and give them a chance to make a play…

  153. DallasBuc Says:

I have no problem with Demps. Get him the ball so we can see what he can do.

  154. CaliBucin Says:

McCown needs to learn to audible if they want to blitz every play… make um pay!!!!

  155. Bill T Says:

Not a good pass by McCown, but Demps has to adjust and make that catch, imo

  156. BuccaneerBonzai Says:

    What he can’t do.

    Because he can’t.

  157. Bawlmerbucfan Says:

BucinNC….My draft is next Saturday. I’m definitely eyeing up Riley Cooper. Ty has been a stud for me the last two years, but now they have too many weapons in Indy. Andrew Luck, now I might be trying to pick him up. Connor Barth is money! I don’t wanna be too much of a fantasy homer.

  158. RealityCheck Says:

@Bonzai wtf are u talking about? Demps ran the play perfectly and had his man easily beat. And then you say he shouldn’t be in the game? You’re right, I hate it when players do what they are supposed to do and beat their coverage…take that guy out immediately.

  159. BuccaneerBonzai Says:

    RealityCheck Says
“I guess we know what our 3rd and long call will be this season.”

Don’t be too sure. Lovie lost Simms and wants to see what his other RBs can do outside of Martin. James is injured as well.

  160. DallasBuc Says:

What exactly can’t he do that you want? The guy can run. He did it in college and few times last year before injury. Hands need work but please, our QBs ineptitudes are a much bigger concern!

  161. LUVMYBUCS Says:

Our Defensive Line alone, should make us a top 5 defense

  162. Phillip Says:

Michael Johnson can get pressure if the QB steps up into the pressure that is always nice to know…

  163. BuccaneerBonzai Says:

    DallasBuc Says
“What exactly can’t he do that you want?”

How about CATCH THE BALL. Every pass thrown his way has not been a bad pass. He has horrible hands, fumbles kicks and can’t play as a RB.

  164. Jason Says:

    Clayborn sighting!
    holy cow, defensive TD!

  165. Broy3434 Says:

Also anyone else hating on Clayborn? Been all over

  166. BuccaneerBonzai Says:

Not a TD, but a nice turnover!

  167. Jason Says:

lol I’m not hating on Clayborn, I’m just picking on Realist because he always is.

  168. Harry Says:

Realist, your boy Clayborn got a SACK!!!!!

  169. BucinNC Says:

Nice to see clayborn with the sack off of a stunt and Mj Houdini in at the end

  170. BuccaneerBonzai Says:

And by “can’t play as a RB” I mean he has shown no ability since entering the league. He has speed and that is it. Nothing to go with it.

  171. LUVMYBUCS Says:

    @Broy3434

    lol Buc the Haters

  172. Broy3434 Says:

Jason that’s what I meant. Realist calls him Slow Born. He looks fine to me. I’m scared Michael Johnson is too small

  173. BuccaneerBonzai Says:

    TOUCHDOWN!!!

  174. mixxx31 Says:

    TOUCHDOWN BABY!!!!

  175. Jason Says:

    17-0. Diggin’ it

  176. LUVMYBUCS Says:

    Yes Sirrr

  177. BuccaneerBonzai Says:

They may as well bring in the backups now. Why risk injuries?

  178. Bawlmerbucfan Says:

Welcome the Bucs D to Smilin’ Willie McGee of the Cool Busch Light Fantasy Football League. I promise, no more fantasy comments.

  179. canadian bucsfan Says:

    Buc-realist.
Claybourne look good on that strip sack?

  180. Mumbles Says:

The defense is winning the game! By any means possible!

  181. Jason Says:

    @Broy3434
Ahh gotcha. I’ll be honest, Clayborn DOES seem to be a tad slow compared to what Lovie seems to want on defense (SPEED), but I’ve always been a fan of his. I really think Johnson is still adjusting to this defense, he’s only played a couple of cumulative halves so far in the preseason… his speed and length will show up, I believe (and hope).

  182. Stanglassman Says:

I hope they don’t send McCoy out. I don’t want to see him til the Panthers game.

  183. Jason Says:

Foster with the excellent pass D!!! Good to see him getting good depth on the drop

  184. ZBucs Says:

Good job by the defense so far.

  185. Jason Says:

WOOT!!!!! Larry English (unblocked, albeit) shows up!

  186. Harry Says:

SACK!!!! crap, thought it was Clayborn again

  187. BucinNC Says:

Foster and banks seem to be everywhere.

PLEASE get out of this game with no injuries

  188. Broy3434 Says:

Jason that’s what I meant. Realist calls him Slow Born. He looks fine to me. I’m scared Michael Johnson is too small. Also who was it saying Mason can’t get down the middle in the cover 2? Rlyyy cuz he did just there. Team is starting to gel. We won once before with game management offense. Believe it or not Seahawks offense wasn’t incredible last year. So 1. Mason is fine 2. Clayborn is fine 3. Doug is fine. 4. Johnson and McCown not sold

  189. Jason Says:

    1) damn man, call a fair catch
    2) way to hang onto the ball with that hit

  190. Harry Says:

Patton is really impressing me. That play should give him the job

  191. Walter Says:

    I’ve missed good defense

  192. DallasBuc Says:

How he held on to the ball is beyond me!

  193. Mitch Says:

So that’s who Larry English is.

  194. Jason Says:

    @ Walter

I feel you.. Having said that, with no Watkins they have no one to take the top off, but we ARE playing excellent defense.

  195. BucinNC Says:

The refs are the best players on our offense

  196. LUVMYBUCS Says:

Folks have forgotten that DE Greg Spires didn’t have blazing speed.

But what he lacked in speed, he made up for with his tenacity to seal the edge(against the run). His high motor allowed him to smash the QB 25 times over a 5 year period.

    So let Adrian be Adrian

  197. Harry Says:

Ok, Tedford, you just might be the real deal. My god, how exciting would that be!

  198. Jason Says:

    @luvmybucs

    Agreed

  199. BuccaneerBonzai Says:

You know, as I watch this no huddle…I can’t help but think that as they get more use to it, they can start the play fast and really catch defenses off guard.

  200. Jason Says:

No no no no no! I call NO on doing the Alstott train whistle when our current FB (Lane) catches a ball. That’s the A-Train whistle, no one else’s

  201. BuccaneerBonzai Says:

Jason, that is the Bills stadium. It wasn’t for us.

  202. Jason Says:

Oh sh*t, duh…. good call, my bad lol

  203. BuccaneerBonzai Says:

And actually, sounding that train whistle during the play is dirty play.

  204. Broy3434 Says:

Offense looks better and better each drive

  205. BuccaneerBonzai Says:

Man, Martin is looking really, really good.

    Could we see a shutout?

  206. Jason Says:

So much for the vaunted Buffalo d-line I kept hearing about. I agree they’re good, but we handled them last year, and our new pickups are handling them today.
Also doing a good job of running and moving the pocket to help keep McCown upright

  207. BuccaneerBonzai Says:

Yeah, Jason, the oline is looking better this week. Like Lovie said in his press conferences, week-2-week inprovement is what they need right now. We’re seeing it.

Bucs only have 2 more offensive plays than Bills. Shows how good the offense is.

    First down.

  208. Harry Says:

Nice long drive, love it. McCown looks good. Oline is doing a decent job.

  209. Jason Says:

    TOUCHDOWN EVANS!!!!

  210. Harry Says:

    Evans!!!!!!!

  211. BuccaneerBonzai Says:

    OMG!!!!!

    That was beautiful!

    Eat that Realist 😛

Strangely silent today. Nothing to bash I guess.

  212. LUVMYBUCS Says:

    Yep!

  213. Couch Fan Says:

Nice!! Offense is looking like its getting better. Keep it up!

  214. mixxx31 Says:

    TOUCHDOWN BABY!!!

  215. Harry Says:

Been a long, long time since the Bucs have been up 24-0 in the 1st half

  216. Kevin1 Says:

    Sayyyy what. Wow

  217. LUVMYBUCS Says:

    @BuccaneerBonzai

    Play nice..lol

  218. Broy3434 Says:

Told y’all have faith. “Now were starting to roll boys ” 24-0 on a first team d some wld call elite

  219. Bucs Says:

I guess the hating has stop. 24-0. What happened to all the bad talk about our Bucs?! Silence haters!

  220. BucinNC Says:

Do we need to see the starters in the second half? If yes/no, who?

  221. Bobby Says:

This is more like it. O-line looks very solid. This is a good defense so it’s a fair test. I’m happy. Our d is as advertised.

  222. unbelievable Says:

Don’t look now but we just sustained a drive boys!

Seeing continued improvement in all areas, which is all we can ask for.

If the O-line continues to gel, this season could get interesting. We need Verner back too.

  223. Touch_Down_Tampa_Bay Says:

    Did we have o-line problems?????

  224. Jason Says:

Wow. Buffalo commentators ” Where was the hold there?”
Ummmm when Pears literally tackled McCoy, you freaking moronic homers.

    UGH.

  225. BuccaneerBonzai Says:

    @BucinNC

Only the oline. They need to keep working.

  226. Bangkok Buc Says:

We are looking much better all around. Beers definitely tasting better this week. Go Bucs!!!!!!!

  227. unbelievable Says:

I’d say no starters in the second half. Keep everyone healthy

  228. Bobby Says:

realist is hating the good play from clayborn! : )

  229. ElioT Says:

That defense looks nasty! Rest those boys till opening day.

Nice job weathering the storm O-Line.

    Go Bucs!

  230. BuccaneerBonzai Says:

I’m all for pulling Martin, McCown, Jackson and Evans on offense. Pull all our starters on defense.

  231. Jason Says:

Told my wife that THIS is how football should be, up 24-0 at the half
She says “Maybe you should pick a different team to root for”

Anyone know a good divorce lawyer? 😉

  232. Touch_Down_Tampa_Bay Says:

Realist is slowly, slowly, getting depressed. Realist has been sack by AC!

  233. Buccfan37 Says:

And I predicted the Bucs would lose this game. What an idiot! I’m done predicting games.

  234. buc'd Up Says:

So far Bucs are sustaining drives, and scoring.
    Creating turn overs
We got the running game going.
    Evans and Jackson are clicking
And, oh yeah… Realist will be happy to know that “Slowborn” is having a solid game.
Thats so creative, the way you replaced the Clay part of his name with Slow. Did the rest of you all catch that?

  235. VancouverBucsFan Says:

All around good play in all areas… McCown hasn’t been pressured too much… Rainey got blasted a couple times by bad blocking assignments… Demos probly could’ve snagged that pass… Other than that I’m impressed

  236. Jason Says:

    McCown 13-16 112 yds, 1 TD 1 Int

Really good game. Figure they’ll come out and play at least one series before retiring the starters so they get the feel for making halftime adjustments (somewhere Schiano is saying “What are those?”)

  237. BuccaneerBonzai Says:

Danny Lansanah is doing a good jon in place of Jonathan Casillas at OLB.

  238. BuccaneerBonzai Says:

    “good job” I mean.

  239. Capt.Tim, Back from Davie Jones's locker Says:

    Nice!
Offense looks real good, defense looks great.
McCoy and V.Jax are dominating. McCown looks like a probowler
Even the O-line looks good, against a good D-line

    Lovie!Lovie!Lovie!
This is just what I hoped for

  240. SAMCRO Says:

I hate to be a debbie-downer, but even at 24 -0, I still don’t feel safe. Can’t wait for the day as a Buc’s fan when I can feel pretty confident that after the first half with such a commanding lead, we always win the game. I mean, I want to woof and holler now, but I can’t bring myself to it yet.

    Do others feel this way?

  241. John Sapp Says:

If they play like they did the first half of this game we can duplicate the Dolphins perfect season. Like what I am seeing. Our “D” is going to give QB’s on our schedule nightmares.

  242. Jason Says:

    @SAMCRO

Honestly no, because with this defense (still learning and improving D) I see a good lead like this being pretty dang safe. Not necessarily today because we’ll be sitting our starters soon, but in the regular season, yeah.

  243. Mumbles Says:

Mike Evans is going to score a lot of TDs as he learns how to get open. He can hurdle cars! SuperMike!

  244. John Sapp Says:

I hear you SAMCRO, Last years Seattle game still haunts me.

  245. BucinNC Says:

    Bucdup,

Thank you! That buc realist is such a squash butler with his play on words.

  246. Larry Says:

I can’t get the game here in Motown but sure would like to watch a 24 – 0 lead in the 2nd Qtr for once. Have to laugh at SAMCRO or otherwise known as debbie-downer! lol

  247. Gt40bear Says:

Good results so far but honestly can’t tell if it’s them looking good or the Bills looking really, REALLY bad. Enjoying the game for what it is though, let’s not get anyone hurt.

  248. Boomer33 Says:

Anybody else notice how quiet Kevin1 got after his early in the game stupid knee jerk statement about how much our QB sucks and if anybody disagreed with him they obviously didn’t have a brain? Fans like that look like idiots when reality sets in. Must be an Opie fan.

  249. Jason Says:

Looks like I was wrong, Glennon and Rainey in

  250. BuccaneerBonzai Says:

    @SAMCRO

I see where you are coming from. (good return just now).

Ronde said it…they are hiding a lot of things still. As things gel they will get better and better. I agree with Jason though, the defense will allow us to make a few mistakes on offense.

On a side not, I do like McCowns hair cut. I might try one like that out 😉

  251. Jason Says:

    Nice TE screen to Jenkins!

  252. BuccaneerBonzai Says:

    Gt40bear Says
“…but honestly can’t tell if it’s them looking good or the Bills looking really, REALLY bad…”

Think of it as a confidence builder to help them get a little touch of swag. It is preseason, so win or lose won’t count either way.

We face harsh competition out of the gates, so the more confidence and hte more they gel, the better.

  253. phreakybucfan Says:

Unimpressed with McCown. Finally see him with ‘aight protection. Under-throws the ball. Jeff Demps is the fastest man in football, you gotta lead him.

  254. DallasBuc Says:

    Oline does not look good.

  255. BuccaneerBonzai Says:

On Glennon. I hesitate to say this because after I complimented him last week he got real bad, but he is having a good series so far.

  256. BuccaneerBonzai Says:

That delay of game was not Glennon’s fault. The center was not paying attention. Glennon was signaling.

  257. BuccaneerBonzai Says:

    phreakybucfan Says
“Unimpressed with McCown. Finally see him with ‘aight protection. Under-throws the ball. Jeff Demps is the fastest man in football, you gotta lead him.”

Really? You base your evaluation on one play, with a player that would not catch the ball if it hit him in the numbers? Whatever, lol.

  258. Jason Says:

    @Bonzai
Thank you, I saw the same thing w/ Glennon signaling for the ball to be hiked, but you know we’ll read somewhere how Glennon’s “slowness” caused a delay of game penalty *eyeroll*

  259. BuccaneerBonzai Says:

Is it me, or does Mike Glennon seem to do well immediately out of the gate, but once something happens to disrupt his tempo, he sudden goes bad?

  260. Gt40bear Says:

Bonzai, agreed. Just still trying to gauge what we’ve got. Still preseason or not, enjoy having a 24-0 lead at any time!

  261. Boomer33 Says:

Phreakybucfan. Ronde Barber said that Demps should have caught that ball, and that’s been a problem he’s had all summer.

  262. Jason Says:

    @Bonzai

I actually agree that McCown hasn’t been perfect on his throws, he under threw Demps on the wheel route, and even under threw Evans on the TD, but he reached back and caught it anyway… thankfully the CB was left in the dust.

Having said all that, they’re still getting their timing down, no big deal IMO

  263. Capt.Tim, Back from Davie Jones's locker Says:

Boy! That Mike Glennon sure knows how to derail a train!!!

  264. BuccaneerBonzai Says:

I really would like it if Glennon because an elite QB. I just have not seen it yet. Hopefully that will change.

Realist thinks I hate Glennon. I don’t. I just want him to earn his reps and props. By earning them, he will be better.

  265. Jason Says:

Love the Buffalo announcers getting excited about completions of their 1st-string offense against our 2nd-string defense lol
Decided difference in QB pressure now

  266. DallasBuc Says:

Bonzai- McCown didn’t exactly light it up. Fumble on first series. INT on second. Had some good throws but had some really bad ones too, including the potential TD pass to Demps. Instead of getting on McCown for throwing the ball way behind him you blame Demps who is running full speed to get to the spot where the ball was supposed to be. You make it out like McCown is some kind of good QB. We should consider ourselves lucky if he is better than mediocre this season.

  267. SAMCRO Says:

I just want to reiterate that my hesitation to feeling secure was not an indictment on our players playing in the second half of this game. What I was refering to was about the Bucs as a franchise, their history. I’ve been a fan forever and have I never felt safe after a huge first half lead. Not even during Dungy’s or Gruden’s days as head coach. Our history of putting games away when we have the lead is not this franchises strong point.

  268. biggun Says:

Bills moving now….. against bucs second string….

  269. Jason Says:

Damn, Tandy should’ve lit M-Will up, would not have been a catch

  270. snook Says:

All the bills needed was to face our 2nd and 3rd stringers….

  271. Gt40bear Says:

Well at least Buffalo can take comfort in that their 1st team offense is better than the Bucs’ 2nd/3rd team defense!

  272. Capt.Tim, Back from Davie Jones's locker Says:

Aren’t impressed with McCown? After that performance?
    Ah, you might be clueless!!
I see Glennon has had his usual crash and burn effect.
Whole team playing down to his level.
Better get Kafka in there, before he gives this one away

  273. biggun Says:

Bills TD… their firsts againt our seconds….

  274. BuccaneerBonzai Says:

    @DallasBuc

I would rather have Carr over both guys. But we are stuck with McCown and Glennon, and I believe of the two, McCown is presently the best.

Like I said, Glennon CAN change that. I’m just not seeing improvement. It’s like he is stagnant.

Maybe its not fair in this game because he has backups playing for him against starters. I’m just pointing out what I am seeing.

As to Josh being good? Good enough. But then, we all know McCown will be gone in a year or two. Mike Glennon is called the QB of the future. All I want is to feel like the future is bright with him.

I do not feel that way thus far. MAybe if he seemed to improve each game.

  275. Bobby Says:

i don’t even care now. I’ve seen all I need to see out of our #1 D.

  276. BuccaneerBonzai Says:

    @SAMCRO

You are right there. Remember the Colts game years ago? OUCH!

  277. BuccaneerBonzai Says:

    Demps rushes for -0.1 yards

  278. Capt.Tim, Back from Davie Jones's locker Says:

The delay of game wasn’t Glennon’s fault???
According to some of you-nothing is his fault!
Like that sweet throw into double coverage!
    Nice mikey, real nice

  279. Jason Says:

    @Bonzai

I was AT that 2003 Colts game on Monday night! I had just come back from being stationed overseas and so I took my wife and Mom (she was a HUGE Buccaneer fan, she would scream louder than me) to the game…. and then we take a poop the last 4 minutes.
And I still say that “piling on” call against Simeon Rice when the Colts missed the game-winning FG in OT was BULLSPIT!

  280. DallasBuc Says:

Bonzai- you brought up Glennon, not me. Neither one looks like they are going to take my Bucs to a winning season, much less SB. I would love to wrong about all my critisism but the mediocre QB/oline combination in today’s NFL doesn’t scream success to me.

  281. Jason Says:

    @Capt Tim

No it wasn’t Glennon’s fault… he can’t hike the damn ball to himself, and he was calling for the ball for at least 1-2 seconds before the whistle

  282. BuccaneerBonzai Says:

Okay. 2nd down, receiver was open. Mike took the time to make sure no defense was there before throwing it. Normally good, right? But his checking too 2-3 seconds before he threw it. During that time, he was staring right at his target.

During the regular season, that would give defense time to adjust and get a pick.

Next play, he fires quickly. Right at the arms of the guy covering Stocker.

What I’m seeing is he can deliver if given plenty of time for him and a WR that is open for a good amount of time. But if he is rushed? He just is not delivering, not consistently.

I point this out not to say he sucks, but it is a valid concern I would like to see him fix. If he did, then I would see that improvement I mentioned and maybe feel better about him.

  283. Capt.Tim, Back from Davie Jones's locker Says:

Thought I’d keep you delusional Glennon lovers honest for once.
Let’s see 1-4, two 3 and outs. Looks like Crap.
What is you love about this guy again?

  284. buc4lyfe Says:

I’d rather have a quarterback that makes bad throws against the ones than a guy making them against two’s and three’s

  285. BuccaneerBonzai Says:

    @DallasBuc

I’m not blaming you or anything. I am just expressing my concerns. I agree that McCown is not great. He’s just better than Glennon…which may not be saying much.

  286. Couch Fan Says:

Did we decide to call it at halftime? Sheesh.

  287. BuccaneerBonzai Says:

Capt.Tim, Back from Davie Jones’s locker Says
“The delay of game wasn’t Glennon’s fault???
According to some of you-nothing is his fault!”

I’ve been not MG fan, but that play was NOT his fault. He kept yelling and signalling at the center, who was not paying attention. Glennon was waving his hands and everything.

That delay of game was 100% on the center, buddy.

  288. TAC Says:

Hope the 1st string D never gets injured.

  289. Gt40bear Says:

Wow, hope the defense doesn’t get ANY injuries this year. Depth looks to SUCK! I know the rest of this game doesn’t mean much in the big scheme but damn it man, play some football and show some pride!

  290. Jason Says:

I’m with Bonzai, no one’s saying Glennon sucks or Glennon is ready to take us to the SB. He’s got decent skills but definitely has improvements to make.

    @Capt Tim
Who is the Glennon lover? He’s screwed up on his throws and reads, but just sayin’ the delay of game wasn’t his fault.

  291. DallasBuc Says:

Hey Capt Tim, why don’t you give us the stat line on McCown’s first two drives of this game? …and he was playing with the starting unit. Glennon is playing with the 2nd string against Bills 1st. Have a little honesty.

  292. 911bucs Says:

And just like that 14 points.

  293. LUVMYBUCS Says:

    Can we trade Keith Tandy?

  294. Capt.Tim, Back from Davie Jones's locker Says:

    Expect a Glennon interception

  295. BuccaneerBonzai Says:

    Couch Fan Says
“Did we decide to call it at halftime? Sheesh.”

Think of it this way. As bad as the backups are, it is very important we keep the best of them because it is all we’ll get unless we sign cast-offs. To figure out who to keep for depth, they have to play.

Take comfort knowing our first teamers are good.

Also, the Bills scored by playing starters against backups. That says a lot.

  296. BuccaneerBonzai Says:

Bills backups are in now, so it should be more equal.

  297. Bangkok Buc Says:

These announcers are hilarious. Praising the 2nd half Bills offence conveniently not mentioning that’s it’s against our scrubs.

  298. Mumbles Says:

A lot of heads are going to roll tomorrow! Get rid of the 2nd team and replace with waiver pick-ups!

  299. Jason Says:

now THAT almost delay of game penalty looked to be Glennon’s fault

  300. BuccaneerBonzai Says:

    DallasBuc Says
“Hey Capt Tim, why don’t you give us the stat line on McCown’s first two drives of this game…Have a little honesty.”

Honesty? How about not removing the rest of McCown’s game because it contradicts your point?

  301. DallasBuc Says:

    Bangkok- I know it’s hilarious!

  302. Bangkok Buc Says:

    Wow. Glennon. Sooooooooo athletic!!!!!!!

  303. Capt.Tim, Back from Davie Jones's locker Says:

    Wow! Falling on his Arse!
Man, I just don’t see it!
    3 and out- again!!

  304. patrickbucs Says:

Other then the first series or 2 I thought the Bucs looked very good offensively, especially Martin and Jackson. I think it will take time for them to gel, defense looks very strong. Still a pre-season game but feel better about them now then I did the last few weeks.

@DallasBuc – maybe about time to find a new hobby? They play well and you say nothing, one bad play you chirp. Josh is the QB get over it, he will do very well like he did last year with some time to be able to throw it.

  305. Jason Says:

I’m no Glennon lover, and he looks like crap slipping everywhere, but that Buffalo field is crap. When you’ve got several players on both sides slipping everywhere, that’s a crappy field.

  306. TAC Says:

Glennon just has that slip factor about him. Hands, feet, whatever.

  307. FLBoyInDallas Says:

Any of you “informed” fans still want Glennon to start over McCown after watching today’s game? LOL

  308. DallasBuc Says:

Bonzai- i have acknowledged the positives of McCown in other posts. My response to Capt T was regarding his trashing Glennon’s 1st 2 opps when McCown did way worse in his. Settle down mr sensitivity!

  309. Capt.Tim, Back from Davie Jones's locker Says:

Gawd- I hope Josh plays well!!
I can’t live with another year of “last place Glennon”
30 passes of 2 yards or less?? Not again!

  310. LUVMYBUCS Says:

Haven’t seen a field this terrible since the Vet. Wait then again nah, the Vet field was terrible. Along with the bathroom, etc, etc..lol

  311. TAC Says:

They need to put a seat-belt on the bench to keep the future QB safe. Maybe a full size car seat.

  312. P'cola Buc Says:

Funny, McCown played on the same “crappy field” and seemed to do better than Glennon.

  313. Capt.Tim, Back from Davie Jones's locker Says:

    That’s why I’m posting
Normally the G for Glennon guys are quiet when he’s on the field- then rewrite history after the Game

Let’s look at what he REALLY does!

  314. DallasBuc Says:

Patrickbuc- if read all my posts there were comments positive and negative…even for McCown. This is one of my hobbies and I’m not going anywhere.

  315. DallasBuc Says:

Gives Demps a crease and he hits it so fast! Hope he makes the roster.

  316. Capt.Tim, Back from Davie Jones's locker Says:

This entire drive- Glennon only threw one pass to a Reciever.
It’s been all penalties. Most of’em Glennon still has the ball in his hand

  317. Capt.Tim, Back from Davie Jones's locker Says:

Yay! For this half- we are losing 3-14
    Terry Bradshaw reborn!! Lol

  318. Capt.Tim, Back from Davie Jones's locker Says:

This second half looks just like last year.
    Like a nightmare rerun

  319. Bird Says:

Haters in the house again. Mccown INT the receiver fell down. Watch it again. The jeff demps throw was fine. Watch it again. My sister could have caught that. D looks great. Bucs just need oniel cousins not in the building and they will be ok

  320. Oahubuc Says:

    The Oline has progressed

    from abysmal to terrible.

  321. Gt40bear Says:

Gonna be some rough spots because we are weak on talent in pales, but I think they’ll be ok in the long run. Go Bucs!

  322. Capt.Tim, Back from Davie Jones's locker Says:

McCown 13-16- player of the game!!

  323. Bird Says:

Love those helmets man. Big pimpin

  324. Capt.Tim, Back from Davie Jones's locker Says:

I don’t wanna hear Glennon mentioned as a potential starter again- until next preseason
    4- 3 and outs.
One drive – aided by 4 penalties, one actually completed one pass.
All BS aside, he may be ready one day. I think so.
But not this year. He needs to park his arse on the bench, and watch and learn

  325. DallasBuc Says:

Bird- use the word haters a lot for people that don’t agree with you?…that rain on your parade a little? Try considering differing points of view, even if you don’t like it! For example, McCown’s pass to Demps was under thrown and prevented a touchdown. You gonna be okay?

  326. Capt.Tim, Back from Davie Jones's locker Says:

That was a good game. This team will be fun to watch !

  327. DallasBuc Says:

Hope you right Capt Tim. Last year was so miserable

  328. Buchead407 Says:

Glennons blows. So does our back up d and oline. Good thing they won’t play much

  329. TonyD Says:

Was nice to see the QB run for more than a yard when needed for a change.

  330. TonyD Says:

Was great to see Buffalo finally connect with their starters against our backups. Buffalo starters played into the 4th quarter, lol. Our starters left at halftime.

  331. Bird Says:

Dallas buc. Wow you again. Dude. I know they have issues. Just happy to support my team. Keep ur amazing critiques coming. Awesome bro. And we know u cheer harder than anybody at the games.

  332. buc'd Up Says:

    @ Captain Tim
Im sorry to inform you but after reviewing your posts this afternoon, your membership in the Mike Glennon fan club has been revoked. We feel that you tell too many truths when boasting your opinion of Mike Glennon and your support of him could open many eyes to the cold, bitter truth that we try so hard to hide. This would inspire common sense in the rest of the Mike Glennon Mob, and we cant have that.
