Smelling A Play For Jadeveon Clowney?May 7th, 2014
OK, this is the season of smoke. There’s no telling what to believe and what not to believe. Joe does believe what Jay Glazer Twittered last night, that the Browns have no interest in Johnny Football at No. 4, but maybe they’re interested later in the draft.
And if the Rams are so hot for Johnny Football, as rumor has it, then why would they trade out of the No. 2 pick?
Yesterday, Joe brought word from the creator, curator and overall guru of ProFootballTalk.com, the great Mike Florio, that the Bucs were in heavy panting for the Rams’ No. 2 pick.
Later last night, Florio explained the Bucs have but one desire at No. 2. And that is Johnny Football.
Joe knows all of his readers understand Joe’s Rachel Watson-like lust for Johnny Football. But these reports don’t add up. Could the Bucs want the No. 2 pick? Sure. But if the Rams and the Bucs want the same player, then the Bucs would have to pay a mortgage the size of an English kickball team for the Rams to give up that pick.
Joe never dreamed the Bucs could be in position to draft a potential stud like Jadeveon Clowney, the defensive end manchild from South Carolina. Given the fact Lovie is such a defensive guy and is hellbent on finding a way to make opposing quarterbacks eat dirt, Joe cannot imagine how Lovie would pass on Clowney and take Johnny Football at No. 2. Of course, Clowney may be gone with the No. 1 overall pick.
Perhaps Team Glazer ordered general manager Jason Licht to go get Johnny? It’s not like such an order hasn’t happened before.
Or could it be the Rams are floating this rumor to get Dixie Chicks general manager Thomas Dimitroff to shat his pants and jack up the ransom price by squeezing Atlanta, which openly covets Clowney?
