Mike Evans = “Godzilla”

Bucs GM Jason Licht described WR Mike Evans as “a Godzilla.”
Joe must give Bucs general manager props for being up on pop culture.
Either that, or he has impeccable timing and is a stickler for research.
There are all sorts of superlatives to use to describe rookie wide receiver Mike Evans. Big, physical, quick, strong, athletic. But leave it to Licht to tab the No. 1 movie at the box office last weekend.
Think Godzilla.
Appearing last night on “Late Hits,” co-hosted by Alex Marvez and Bill Polian, heard exclusively on SiriusXM NFL Radio, Licht was either thinking back to the campy Japanese horror shows of the 1960s or he took his kids to the movies last weekend. When Polian asked Licht to name rookies who are already standing out in minicamp and OTAs, Licht didn’t hesitate.
“Mike Evans has been a Godzilla out there,” Licht said. “Catching everything. His strength and his toughness and his route running has been exceptional.”
Now Joe knows Bucs fans have been reaching/looking for a nickname for Evans. Joe thinks Licht saved these same Bucs fans a lot of kvetching. There you go; how does it sound? Godzilla?

DallasBuc is gay. Godzilla is a badass nickname. And if he couldn’t do it in practice, there’s no way it’s happening in games. So, doing it in practice is at least a good sign

@Dallasbuc—agree with you..Allow him the opportunity to EARN an NFL nickname…. Let’s not have it as a marketing tool when he hasn’t played game one. IF it came from college ala JF ok..just don’t want to hand it to him…let’s see some of those ferocious blocks in pads…not just great catches in underwear! We haven’t even given nicknames to GMC or LD!

Not everyone needs a nickname. GMC was born with that nickname, Lavonte is just… Lavonte. He needs nothing more.
Godzilla is kinda fun though, it seems to be appropriate.
