Bucs Deal Seventh Rounder

May 10th, 2014

joemugshotToday’s trade up back into the fifth round to snatch Purdue offensive tackle Kevin Pamphile included coughing up the Bucs seventh round pick today and a fifth round next year with Buffalo.

So Tampa Bay has one more draft pick remaining (as of now), No. 185 overall, pick No. 9 of the sixth round.

No bigs on dealing the 7th. There will be plenty of UDFA’s available with similar talent.

  2. bucrightoff Says:

Lovie’s gotta get at least one defensive player right?

  3. MadMax Says:

So we didnt give up a 5th from next year? Sweet.

  4. The Real Drew Says:

nfl.com says it was 5th next year and 7th this year, maybe its wrong.

  5. lurker Says:

another screwup somewhere ala the mccarron flub.

  6. The Real Drew Says:

I believe we had 2 fifth rounders next year, so lost one.

  7. Back, from Davie Jones Locker Says:

    Good move
Walterfootball has linked Kevin Pamphile to The Bucs for weeks.
We liked him- we got him.
Despite Dom’s philosophy, few game changers are found in round 7

  8. The Real Drew Says:

This trade was with Buffalo, who gave us their 6th for Mike Williams, so we had to give up 5th next year.

  9. Jason Says:

FIRE JASON LICHT!!!!!! This guy sucks! First two picks were amazing, then he took a big steamy dump on the rest of the draft

  10. MadMax Says:

Yup! Never wouldve happened if Dom was still here.

  11. Brandan Says:

@Jason, Give these guys a chance before you start bitching like jags & browns fans

They haven’t stepped on a practice field yet, lone alone game day field. Lol. some people slay me. Let’s give the draftees a couple years to try and pan out.

  13. Paul McCartney Says:

    Shut up Brandan

  14. bowtie502 Says:

lets go get Robert herron for k/r slot duties and get ready to kick some fanny

  15. kevin Says:

These fans that get on here bitching are suck sissies. Really just shut up and trust these men to do theyre job. This team was obviously hurting on offense all over they addressed the needs. Would you prefer they had taken the best ol men and taken mediocre talent at te and receiver. A record number of receivers were taken in the first three rounds this year so those reliable hands would have been long gone. They did theyre homework and this was the drafting that will best benefit our team. If you think you can do a bettter job than go get a job as a gm being that you are so qualified.

  16. Macabee Says:

This draft shows that Lovie did learn and has committed the entire draft to the Offense. That has taken a lot from a guy who made his name on defense. kind of like taking a guy with a sweet tooth to a cake factory and serving a green salad for lunch. The man deserves a medal for self-control IMO! lol

  17. lurker Says:

brandan acting like the yucs are better.

licht sucks at trades, though. he always loses value.

  18. Paul McCartney Says:

GOD DAM IT……Aaron Murray is gone

  19. Orca Says:

They could trade DaQuan Bowers to pick up a 7th rounder… Unless the Bucs are more hopeful about him than I am.

  20. Greg Says:

@Macabee, you’re right, Lovie does seem to have learned his lesson. He said Tampa is his last stop as a HC, maybe because he’L&L be a long term winner here with Licht. I think this has become a great coming out draft for both of them!

FIRE JASON LICHT!!!!!! This guy sucks! First two picks were amazing, then he took a big steamy dump on the rest of the draft

    Yeah, that’s reasonable… moron.

  22. Ernest T. Bass Says:

Drafting athletic offensive linemen. Pretty athletic when 300+ pounds can run sub 5 forty. Licht also threw in the filthy mattress and stripper pole to give back to 19.

  23. BBFFC Says:

sounds like its the pick we got for Zuttah plus a 7 this year as the premium to move 5th rounder up 1 year. We still have a 5th next year…… good trade.

  24. bucrightoff Says:

Bowers has an NFL sack at least so he’s worth more than a 7th right now. Drafting a punter would be hilarious, all offense and special teams. Lovie seems to like what he has on defense.

  25. Orca Says:

First people talk about who Lovie will pick, thinking that our GM is a figurehead… then when they don’t like the pick they want to take a crap on the GM and fire him. Hilarious.

  26. SteveK Says:

BPA all day, erry day. Way to go Licht.

Hahaha at all the QB obsessive, non-BPA wanting fans. Come join the MGM, we are taking applications.

  27. unbelievable Says:

@SteveK Ha! That made me laugh

  28. lurker Says:

what bpa? most teams says that but we will never know.

  29. Dougy balls Says:

Fire the cannons. Awesome draft for the bucs came in with a plan to add weapons/best player available .stop whining .

  30. lurker Says:

the offensive linemen weren’t bpa. arguably neither the rb or te.

  31. Tampabaybucfan Says:

L&L must have really, really liked Edwards….because just a few slots later…they gave up 2 picks for Pamphile….could have just picked him in Edwards’ slot & not given up anything for him.
Here is my question…..how is Pamphile not the BPA when you picked Edwards if he was worth two picks a few slots later?

  32. MadMax Says:

Im friggin stoked with this draft. Cant wait to see Sims lined up at the slot, 2 TE sets with Wright and Jenkins, and the big wideouts in VJax and Evans! Im loving this draft!

  33. Dougy balls Says:

    Fire the cannons !!!!!

  34. Oahubuc Says:

If y’all look (I’m to lazy/busy), I’ll be you can see indicators that a run on these 3rd-tier o-linemen was shaping up. If they wanted this tackle, it was smart to move up for him.

  35. biff barker Says:

Evans and ASJ should be quality additions, but did we address the OL early enough? I’m only lukewarm on the Sims and the Herron pick.

  36. Kalind Says:

The only miss was that running back. They could have had Yankey, Gabe Jackson, or my boy Louis Nix there instead. All. All. ALL made more sense than that. I will be shaking my head over that until that kid scores 3 tds in one game….come on Lovie. What WAS that?
