Execution & O-Line Play Is the Difference

December 9th, 2013

So how are the Bucs winning four of five games after an 0-8 start?

The answer isn’t rocket science, explained former Bucs tight end Anthony Becht on WDAE-AM 620 this morning.

“I think it’s very simple, and it’s not really something you overanalyze. It basically comes down to execution and offensive line play,” Becht said. “I just think we’re blocking guys up. We’re coming off the ball and controlling the line of scrimmage more than we had in the first eight games. And really that’s the key.

“You know I hate to say it doesn’t matter who your quarterback is. If you have a guy back there that can make throws and make completions, and you can run the football, and you don’t turn it over, you have a great chance of winning football games.”

Enjoy Becht’s full interview below. Becht explains why he believes the Bucs can win with Mike Glennon next year if certain changes are made.

After a couple of really bad games for the oline in Detroit and Carolina, they showed up big against a good front 7. Gonna be a tough test next week against SF. Like Carolina it does not look like a favorable matchup for us.

Joe- what is the latest on Carl Nicks? Haven’t heard any updates on his condition. Is anyone in the media even asking anymore or are the bucs not saying?

  3. Killian Says:

Am I the only one who notices that they are terrible at blocking for screens?

  4. DallasBuc Says:

Nope…they are terrible at executing screens and pretty bad at defending them

AND the success on the defense lately is the major reduction is stunts, curls and games. Have to give your men a chance to beat their men 1 on 1

    BY PLAYING CRAP TEAMS
How bad a preformance by the bills was that?

  7. Curmudgeon Says:

^^ The Bucs may have had something to do with that.

I love it when the Bucs win it’s always because it was a ‘crap’ team. LOL! Any team in the NFL is capable of winning on any Sunday. You have a handful of teams that are elite and the rest can beat any team or lose to any team depending on the Sunday. The Bills lead the lead in sacks and only got Glennon once. We got EJ 7 times! 4 picks. Yeah….go back and look at how many points the Bills have been losing by and tell me that we didn’t dominate them. They lost to the Pats 23-21, beat the Panthers, Ravens and Dolphins and lost a lot of close games early on. We are the only team to hold them without a TD all season and they’ve played some pretty good teams. The Bucs deserve a lot of credit for that defensive performance.
