“Didn’t Look Like Guys Were Mad”

December 22nd, 2013

Greg Schiano weighed in with his disgust

Bucs fans are mad.

Paying Bucs fans are very mad.

But it seemed like Bucs offensive linemen weren’t appropriately mad, so explained former Buccaneers tight end Anthony Becht on the Buccaneers Radio Network.

Becht was troubled by the look of the offensive line during the final two Buccaneers drives.

The Bucs absorbed seven sacks on the day. “It didn’t look like guys were mad. I didn’t see guys angry in the last two drives when they’re getting beaten so many times,” Becht said.

Becht went on to say getting beat happens, but a nasty attitude has to emerge along the offensive line after, say, three sacks. Guys have to fight harder to stay on blocks and teams like the Rams can’t be allowed to have that kind of success pinning their ears back on your quarterback.

That’s what happens to 4-10 teams, Becht said, stopping short of saying any Buccaneers showed any quit.

Greg Schiano weighed in completely disgusted on the Buccaneers Radio Network.

“We can’t go out and do that. This is the National Football League. We gave up seven sacks,” Schiano said.

Joe’s got no explanation for the Bucs total implosion in pass defense at times. There are a lot of highly paid veteran guys on that O-line.

The players are used to losing when playing these terrible schemes. They know they don’t work and they know glennon doesn’t want to win enough to even care about protecti him. This team has given up. They are quitting on their coach.

  4. That Guy Says:

Does Glennon ever step up into the pocket? Or does he just always run backwards when he feels the pressure coming?

  5. Macabee Says:

I was hoping that we may get better draft position, but everybody below us at 7 also lost and I expect the 49ers to beat the Saints. So I look forward to a better day, someday I hope!

Is it me, or is it VERY depressing when or BEST O lineman is an undrafted converted BASKETBALL PLAYER??? Lord, ALL the cash thrown at Penn, Davin, Nicks, and Zutah and they ALL can kiss off. Move Dotson to left tackle for the last game, what the hell do you have to lose. Nicks cashed in, let him go, same with Penn. This team now needs O tackle and guard, QB and a pas rusher. All this and we gave our 3rd rounder to the Jets? good job Rock Star

  10. You Go Joe Says:

We gave up 7 sacks with a line that has around 30 mill invested. I can be wrong as I’m just winging the salaries on the top of my head. But penn, Joseph and nicks are the biggest payouts. Something needs to change as the line has not improved and sucks way more with healthier players than last year duck tape line.

  11. mvermulm Says:

That Guy, Glennon stepped up nicely late in the fourth, and got hit harder than I’ve seen him get hit all year by Quinn because Penn got beat yet again. A rookie QB is going to have rookie moments; but an o-line making what ours does simply cannot play like they did today. Unacceptable.

It sounds like the average poster is under 30. You have to send Dom packing along with Dom. No winning experienced NFL HC coach would step into this situation and leave his reputation in the hands of a below average GM. Don’t know we want to go that way, but don’t kid yourself…you can one, you have to can the other.

  13. mark2001 Says:

Send Shiano packing along with Dom., if you choose.

  14. Awaiting moderation Says:

Bush league the guards don’t seem to be able to set their feet half the time. It’s hard to block when you’re back pedaling lol

  15. Awaiting moderation Says:

    It’s a package deal Shiano & dom

  16. Apple Roof Cleaning Tampa Says:

The lesson here is you can’t give big fat guys a lot of money.
Once they get all that money, they seem to save all their energy for the local steakhouses!

  17. Mr. Patrick Says:

And to think that coming into the season the O-Line was suppose to be the team’s strength. Not Quite

  18. Tampabaybucfan Says:

A really very bad combination for a Rookie QB:

    No Running Game
    Poor Pass Protection
    WRs Not Getting Separation Early
    Absoutely awful playcalling

Sure, Glennon played his part but most everything has to go well for him to have success.

We got down to the 5 and I told my wife….”watch us run it up the middle for no gain”….she said ” how did you know that”…I said….”Its our nature”

  19. BoJim Says:

Tampabaybucfan. I think you are right on the money.

    No Running Game
    Poor Pass Protection
    WRs Not Getting Separation Early
    Absoutely awful playcalling

    I felt sorry for Glennon.

  20. hamilton Says:

    glennon sucks too.

  21. SeanyMac in SC Says:

Lets see if this looks familiar…1st play run up the gut 1 yard…2nd play run up the gut -2 yards….3rd and long again either incomplete pass or a pass 5 yards short of the first down. Pretty easy to defend when the script never changes…you think!?! Sick Of It!

  22. knucknbuc Says:

Anyone else think nicks said screw you schiano. Ur schemes are a joke and is why he’s not being heard from talked or asked about? Mwhy not just put him on ir? Didn’t think mesa would last this long.? Wouldnt say I would want to play with these mediocre college coaches masquerading as nfl coaches either. Bums #fireschiano
