Mike Williams On Injured Reserve

October 28th, 2013

The season from hell for Bucs fans just got worse/hotter this morning. The Bucs placed talented wide receiver Mike Williams on injured reserve, per Joe’s good friends at WDAE-AM 620.

More information from the Bucs on the transaction:

Williams played in six games this season, catching 22 passes for 216 yards and two touchdowns. In his fourth season from Syracuse, Williams has started 52-of-54 career games, recording 215 catches for 2,947 yards and 25 touchdowns. His 25 receiving touchdowns are the fifth-most in Buccaneers history, and his 2,947 receiving yards are the eighth-most. Of receivers chosen in the 2010 draft, he has the second-most receiving yards and is tied for the second-most receiving touchdowns.

So now Bucs quarterback Mike Glennon, who targets Vincent Jackson nearly as much as leaky former Bucs franchise quarterback Josh Freeman targeted DJ Toes on the Line, will throw Jackson’s way even more.

Bucs racing for that #1 draft pick

  2. Mr. Patrick Says:

Good. Now put Doug Martin on there too. No use pushing an injured young player just to save somebody’s job. Get them both back to 100% for next season

  3. Patrick in VA Says:

Can we put Jackson and Revis on IR as well? What about Goldson? Basically, whoever is marginally talented and we have locked up for a few years let’s rest them up and have them feeling strong for our clean slate and fresh start next year. we can find some scrub off the street to run into a wall of unblocked defenders every week. No need to subject our talent to potential injury

  4. Eric Says:

I guess the league has rules against forfeiting the remaining games.

But that’s ok, Schiano ain’t winning one anyhow.

Please sir have the decency to lose out.

  5. Toes on the line Says:

Better call Terrell Owens, Chad Johnson or Can’t catch Clayton.

  6. JonBuc Says:

I bet he’s glad the Bucs extended him this offseason…something I was all for.

  7. White Tiger Says:

maybe Sully and Shinola can get some more receptions from their offensive lineman…you know, the guys the rest of the NFL calls Tight Ends…the guys they DID NOT want Josh Freeman to throw to…?

Tiquan Underwood gets moved up to number 2 – and…what’s his name gets moved to #3…hey look Greg…changes AND P-R-O-M-O-T-I-O-N-S!

Wonder why everybody thinks this Shinola guy’s an idiot? He’s sneaky good…(NOT)…

  8. BuccaneerBonzai Says:

This isn’t Schiano’s fault. Besides…Williams has been non-existant the last couple games.

Maybe the “next man up” will provide us a solution for the slot next year.
