What I don’t get is all this support schanio gets on this message board from the fans. What has he done to warrant more time? I was a big schiano supporter when he got here an the man did clean up the culture with guys who wrrent passionate about the game but geez when does winning actually mean anything? Ppl sayin he needs anothwr year for what? To surpass tje jags as the worst team the arrow needs to point up an if isnt ….and it CLEARLY ISNT then find someone to get it straight theres nothing anyone can tell me to make me believe he has done anything to even warrent being an assistant coach or coordinatr to any nfl team next year. Mannnnnnn look production is the key an u find one good productive thing he’s done to the team hurt martin? Exile josh n the most humiliating way? Repalce productive pass rushers for maybes? Turn a 9th ranked offense to well this? Come on the list goes on for days. …wait I forgot I was supposed to b naming good lmao silly me well I quit with that cuz thats impossible

    BucNasty…

…this is a blog not a message board.

Also, more people here are against Schiano than for him.

I’m for him myself though. Here’s the thing. Tampa fans are notoriously impatient. This is why they have never had a true franchise QB. They just flat out refuse to give anyone time to develop.

Want recent examples? Gerald McCoy. Everyone here gave up on him after he was injured two years straight. If they had gotten their way, he would no longer be here.

Eric Page. People are already giving up on him as a returner…even though he didn’t play his rookie year and this is his second year…which means it basically is his rookie year.

In the case of Greg Schiano, fans have certainly given up on him…after 23 games…even though MOST coaches get at least 48 games to prove themselves (3 seasons). What if Schiano is the next Bill Belichek? What if, just like the Browns did, the Bucs get rid of him, he goes elsewhere and becomes the best coach in the NFL?

You may say “Who cares what he does after he’s gone?” You will…if he succeeds and starts racking up superbowls.

There is a reason the Bucs players have not given up on Greg Schiano. The media, of course, is trying to say they have…but there has been zero evidence of that. In fact, most of the hate from fans is a result of media misdirection.

If Schiano could potentially reach the heights of a Bill Belichek then it’s worth giving him another year to see. Just count Bill’s rings.

    BucNasty!!,

Please take into account the entire picture, the picture our GM has put into place.

Schiano is a problem, but it roots from the GM on down.

If Schiano goes, Dom better be with him.

It would be INSANELY FOOLISH to let the “Rock Star” Rock out on another HC or QB.

    Gettem outta here!

  4. BuccaneerBonzai Says:

Also, BucNasty, who leaked the Freeman medical information to the press? The NFLPA claims that Schiano told 3 players…it didn’t claim he leaked it to the press. Most likely one or more of those 3 players did. And what we were told was taken out of context anyway.

The NFL has been looking into it and have found nothing.

  5. Celly Says:

The problem that fans have with the situation is that we have ZERO wins with this amount of talent on the team. We’ve done more with less in the past.

I’m sure we feel the same way KC fans felt last year. They had 12 pro bowlers on their roster. one coaching change and a veteran QB later, and their the only unbeaten team.

All i want this offseason is an offensive HC (preferably Greg Roman…even though he is another coach w/ no proven track record as a HC) and a veteran QB.

  6. gatorbuc77 Says:

“The NFLPA claims that Schiano told 3 players…it didn’t claim he leaked it to the press.”

This is still a problem for Schiano and the Bucs.

A disclosure of any kind whether to the press or not is a violation of the CBA and HIPAA laws.

Jail time is a possibility even if the person who made the disclosure did so without knowledge of the law.

Penalties from CBA violations could include loss of draft picks.

I am not claiming this came from Schiano, but if anyone other than Freeman (or his ‘camp’) leaked it, its a much bigger deal than anyone is talking about.

  7. SteveK Says:

    Celly,

    What about our GM?

Do you entrust our current GM to get us there?

Scott Pioli found all of those pro bowlers, and still got axed.

How does Dom escape this mess?

  8. SteveK Says:

    gatorbuc,

Thanks for sharing your input and understanding.

If Freeman’s TEMPER TANTRUM costs us further draft picks, then we are totally up the creek…

    WHAT JOB SECURITY

I THINK DOMINICK IS SITTING BACK LAUGHING BECAUSE IF THE GLAZERS MET WITH SCHIANO IT PROBABLY MEANS THEY ARE THE ONE’S WHO HIRED HIM

  10. BucNasty!!! Says:

Again what has he done? U keep spoon feeding him an coddling him lmao 0 wins this year 9 total so far n 2 seasons the chiefs almost got that this year alone u keep talkin bout what he could do and what he could b but tell me again what he has done thus far? Trust me he is no billichick so stop the comparisons just because bellicheck was able to turn it around after he started bad. Now schanio isnt starting bad its historical bad beyond raheem morris bad. An im very patient I like mccoy There s no way you get rid of a top 3 pick cuz of injures.and u keep saying patience but what progress has he shown to deserve it? 0 wins buys u more time?theres a fine line between patience an stupidity if you wait ing for him to turn it around yea its coming lmao so is Christmas o yea by the eay if ya stock keeps falling n the stock market dnt take your money out keep investing it’ll change or you’ll go broke first whatever happens first. Btw just for the record where u for or against exiling raheem morris? Lol ill wait for that answer an double standards next I call a spade a spade u dont find the reasons y ppl cant coach when they can coach right u find em when they cant if he had wins this woukd b a different conversation but I guess we are who we thought we are … schianos minions get em outa here mater fact all yall are probly on his pay roll trying to come on here an make him not look as bad lmao aint happening the glazers knows the outcome they just don’t wanna can him yet an spoil this good draft position.

  11. bucbucbuc Says:

It is downright embarrassing that people continue to defend Schiano.

Sure, Tampa Bay fans are generally impatient, but this team is clearly going in the wrong direction and a change needs to be made. Forget about the product on the field, what about the mess off the field? Even if we blame Freeman for his whole mess, how about the numerous scathing reports that continue to get released about the Schiano regime? NO ONE likes this guy. Which is fine, there are several coaches out there who aren’t well liked. But no one RESPECTS this guy either, which is a very, very big red flag.

People keep bringing up Belichick, but he is a once in a lifetime type coach. You can’t sit there and tell me that Schiano can turn it around and become the next Belichick. He is clearly incapable of running an NFL team.

  12. gatorbuc77 Says:

“What if Schiano is the next Bill Belichek? What if, just like the Browns did, the Bucs get rid of him, he goes elsewhere and becomes the best coach in the NFL?”

Belichick did not have this kind of record while he was in Cleveland. He did have an 11-5 season and had a playoff win. His record was a few games under .500 – and did not include a 7+ games losing streak, or a 1-13 stretch.

Belichick did show he could coach in the NFL and be successful, but wore out his welcome with the Browns. Schiano has looked overmatched and under qualified to this point.

  13. mvermulm Says:

The problem I have with the coaching staff is not Schiano. Personally, I believe there are far too many coaches, and the two who run the offense and defense were not his guys. Therefore, you have a HC who wants something different than his OC and DC want to do, and 23 other coaches trying to teach guys both sides’ demands. It cannot be done that way, and I think that’s why you see so much confusion, along with guys not being used right (although I’m one who thinks Revis wasn’t healthy yet, and the zones and off-man were to ease him back). I am honestly surprised that either Sheridan or Sully were not fired after the Carolina game, and I think that if one side of the ball struggles again in Seattle, that Schiano has the authorization of the Glazers to fire someone.
This season has been a terrible storm of Freeman and media-driven drama, injuries, questions, and learning, and I think the Glazers see that and are going to give him the rest of the season to show some improvement… and I’m okay with that for now.

  14. Tim Says:

Get the Bust Star and Schiano out of here.

  15. Oil Derrick Brooks Says:

“What if Schiano is the next Bill Belichek? What if, just like the Browns did, the Bucs get rid of him, he goes elsewhere and becomes the best coach in the NFL?”

You’re assuming he would have had the same success in Cleveland. For one thing, he didn’t have Brady.

Should the Jets and the Pats not fired Pete Carrol? His resume was looking pretty bad up until getting to USC and having little competition for all those West coast recruits.

Sometimes people learn from their mistakes, and improve the next time around, and so on. Maybe down the road, Schiano will improve, or maybe he is better suited for college. For whatever reason, it’s not working.

    Same goes for Dominick.

  17. Tampabaybucfan Says:

I supported Schiano until the Philadelphia loss, so I was one of the last to call for his firing. I supported him because I hoped he could turn things around because at least three of the first 4 losses could have been wins.
After that, I thought we should keep him until the end of the year. I’ve since changed my mind on that also. I think we can’t focus on developing our younger players and on next year until Schiano is gone. The difficulty is that interim coaches will also do everything they can to win now…..when we should be developing and evaluating talent. Here are some of the players:

Glennon, Wright, James, Page, Owusu, Sherman, Demps, Gholston, Means, Gorrer, Johnson

  18. bucs911 Says:

How are we developing young players if the coaching staff is having “so called coaching problems.”

  19. Tampabaybucfan Says:

    @ bucs911

I didn’t say we were developing…I said we should be developing and that is why I think Schiano should be fired now.
It could be argued that simply playing younger players helps to develop them…..we are by necessity with Glennon, James & at WR developing them.

  20. Macabee Says:

“Intelligent thoughtful mind” – that pretty much sums it up for me!

  21. The Dom must go Says:

Who would take this coaching job unless Dom is gone or even if he’s gone? We always end up with someone other than we target. Tony or Gruden weren’t first choices Glazers just got lucky. Why do y’all think Chip turned down the job then turned around and took the Eagles job….. Because the Glazers and Dom have ran this orginazation into the ground! No one with real credentials will want any part of this embarrassment.

  22. JonBuc Says:

The Belicheat/Schiano comparisons need to begin and end with the fact that they’re both pricks. Belicheat learned a ton under Parcells and a big part of the reason it didn’t work out in the end in Cleveland is that Modell was in the midst of moving the team to Baltimore. Now that’s a distraction. Don’t worry, Schiano apologists…he will be Belicheat’s lb coach soon enough.
