Report: Revis Is Good With Schiano

September 17th, 2013

B

In the midst of the Darrelle Revis documentary, part of the NFL Network’s “A Football Life” series, NFL Network reporter Andrea Kremer, who has been following Revis for months in putting together the documentary, had a news update during a commercial break to address national rumors that Revis is unhappy with Bucs commander Greg Schiano, specifically that he is playing too much zone defense.

Here is word-for-word Kremer’s report.

“Today he was in the facility [One Buc Palace] for his normal treatment. Sought out head coach Greg Schiano. They met for about 15 minutes this afternoon. Revis said he wanted to see him face-to-face to let him know ‘I don’t have any issues with you as a head coach. I am going to do everything I can to help this team win.’

“As for any rumors about the way he is used, too much zone defense, he denied that. Look guys, they are 0-2. There is a lot of frustration generally, and I think this is a reflection of that.”

Joe doesn’t know what he can add to this. In addition to Revis’ words on Twitter today, at best, it seems whatever plant there was concerning Revis, Schiano and the Bucs, either was misinterpreted or simply misinformation supplied to said reporter.

Of course it was. Blown out of proportion like most of the media stories out about the bucs right now.

More Great Insight Joe! Thanks for Posting this! GO BUCS!!!

The Bucs need to find a way to win a few games to make all this nonsense stop. Whether it’s reporters or division opponents, people smell blood in the water, and it’s the kind of thing that can only fester when the team is under-performing. The Bucs need to find a way to play a disciplined game on Sunday and beat Tom Brady – no easy task regardless of who he’s throwing to.

  4. bucforce Says:

Either there is a mole within One Buc deliberately trying to undermine the HC, the NY media has a real hard on with Revis leaving the Jets, or Schiano’s “victory formation” dive at the linemen’s legs play against the Giants last year. I’ve never seen so many negative national stories against one particular team, especially one that was one play away from being 2-0 and not 0-2.

I hope this isn’t a double post (not seeing the one I just submitted)… but the Bucs need to find a way to win a few games to make all this nonsense stop. Joe –

That last post was full of a few children arguing so I just wanted to post this fresh.

Love your site but maybe it wasn’t best to bash reporters for using unnamed sources when you did the same thing in your story about the local source who is certain that story was planted.

Not starting an argument. Just also have a passion for journalism.

    Go Bucs.

  7. Tampabaybucfan Says:

Of course Revis has no problems….he has no guaranteed money….he would have to ba an absolute fool to mess with a coach who has proven that he will cut a talented player with an attitude….Revis is a Buccaneer Man…..a very wealthy Buccaneer man…but Schiano is the only one of the twe that has guanteed money!!!

  8. Pelbuc Says:

Joe, the Schiano Revis sit down is more Schiano recruiting Revis to hold back the mutiny. Even Coughlin changed his ways in NY when he realized he was losing his teams in years past and he had much more cred than Schiano. The problem is that sChiano is not a good NFL coach and is way too conservative and controlling. Players are playing for themselves and not for a team goal, I.e. Goldson not changing his tackling, Ahmad black hit, dropped passes and of course the slew of penalties. The players are either real dumb or just tuning him out and once again, the fans are the victims of this sorry soap opera. It also never helps when your QB is a heartless zombie. Aw! What a wonderful Bucs life!

Go Bucs!!! ….Rome wasn’t built in a day.

  10. Tampabaybucfan Says:

An unamed source told me that there is a trade in the works with the Titans…for Josh Freeman in return for a 2014 3rd round pick.

    How does that feel?

    You know this as fact…how?

I have to say I respect the way Revis went straight to the coach so there were no false assumptions.

So far as his money, people are wrong in assuming it is not guaranteed. When a season starts that season’s salary is locked in. So it is a year-to-year guaranty.

  12. SeanyMac in SC Says:

Can we blame all of these rumors on Shaun King some how? Just saying.

  13. blackmagic00 Says:

    I love the bucs

  14. Tampabaybucfan Says:

    @ Eternally Optimistic Homer

You are correct that $16 mil is guaranteed….but that leaves $80 mil on the table that isn’t…..that should be an incentive to maintain a positive attitude especially with a coach that values that above talent.

  15. Andrew 1 Says:

    @ Tampabaybucfan

fells just as credible as the rest of the reports. lol

  16. Splengo Says:

    TampaBucFan,

I have a source at the Bucs too. Someone in Dominik’s office and she says the Glazer’s ordered this meeting and Schiano was told in no uncertain terms to get this story out of the national media.

  17. Tampabaybucfan Says:

    @ Andrew 1

I just thought I’d show how easy it is to hide behind an unnamed source. Journalists are permitted to be hypocrites. The rest of us have to follow the rules. But, journalists live and die depending on their credibility….sooner or later, they pay a price for floating rumors.

  18. Tampabaybucfan Says:

    @ Splengo

“she”….you just fingered your Buc source…Dominick only has one female on his office staff….and her name is.

“Even Coughlin changed his ways in NY when he realized he was losing his teams in years past and he had much more cred than Schiano.”

(I know, Im still here) But I brought up the Coughlin turnaround a few days ago. And he got 2 rings since then.

I still havent given up on our season. But I think it takes some humility on Schianos part, some more focus and drive on Freemans part, and with 14 games left, thats an eternity to right this ship.

I dont hate Schiano as much as people think, and I definitely dont love Freeman as much as you think, I just to WIN. plain and simple.

So Im glad pelbuc brought up Coughlin’s turnaround. Its gonna take that, and a full commitment from Freeman. Then??? We’re dangerous.

  21. tonytwocents Says:

“An unamed source told me that there is a trade in the works with the Titans…for Josh Freeman in return for a 2014 3rd round pick.”

If it involves us getting Locker, I wouldnt be upset with that.

Unless Freeman really tackles this season, and wins Schiano over, he’s better off with a fresh new start.

  22. Splengo Says:

    TampaBucFan,

I don’t know this Cunni person that you refer to. Lol. But true story.

  23. tonytwocents Says:

Tampabaybucfan, I see what you did there….

  24. tonytwocents Says:

Just thinkin out loud. (tell me when to shut up)

Theres this TMZ effect. Where they take these young stars like Britney Spears, Lindsey Lohan, Miley Cyrus, they build em up in the spotlight….these chicks get drunk in the limelight, only to have TMZ build you up to knock you down.

Well the NFL ownership fraternity is similar. I wouldnt doubt that they saw Schiano coming into this league last year without the credentials, trying to make a statement with his victory formation at the end of games. (I personally liked it) But Im sure it irritated 31 other teams.

And now that weve stacked up personal foul penalties two weeks counting, who knows who our real haters are. Maybe some owners got together and said Schi needs to be taken down a notch.

    *this is just speculation.

  25. shmeetz Says:

    @tonytwocents

I also loved the victory formation charge. If there’s still a chance, you play until the clock says 0:00. I don’t understand why people get so upset about it.

  26. shmeetz Says:

I can’t believe that even after Revis comes out straight shooting any speculation, everyone is still trying to conjure up meaning between the lines. Can’t anything just be taken at face value anymore? Why does there always have to be a hidden agenda?

  27. DP4LIFE22 Says:

I have a question to all these people.. if bucs defense stops final drive and we are 2-0 are you still complaining about your team..

Who better than the Dirty Saints to start a rumor before the game about our QB …

the division teams are scared to play our D..

  28. buc4lyfe Says:

I thought the drama would end when the season started but it I only got worse. I’m tired hearing lies from the usual suspects. Mark Dominick could easily squash the drama atleast in the media by tweeting or media quote, wish we heard more the glazers. It’s what does it say by the front office letting schiano and Freeman take all this heat

  29. buc4lyfe Says:

Mark Dominick wheels and deals when it comes to doing contracts so it’s it’s kinda believable when I hear that yes schiano contract is fully guaranteed but if he gets fired they can spread out the money owed over a 4 or 5 year span not all at once, which is good because if he does get fired he’ll have a hard time finding a college job and recruits that will play for a dictator

  30. MadMax Says:

What Id like to know is wth happened with the defense leaving Graham so open? Good gosh Im not even a coach and I was screaming before this game that we need to double team Graham….and then Revis isnt on their #1 receiver for that final throw? Really? Come on Man, I can see Revis’s frustration if there really is any…..doesnt take a rocket scientist to see….

Good grief wth is going on with my team sometimes….

  32. Bobby Says:

The media is out to get the Bucs. I was watching Fox Sports last night and they were reporting that because Revis didn’t specifically mention his coach that he obviously WAS upset with Schiano. The headline for their story was ‘MUTINY IN TAMPA BAY’. This is just irresponsible reporting. They act like they are all clairvoyants and can just read the minds of the players and decipher in between the lines of anything being said. Revis is the one who sought out Schiano to clear the air so how can it be any plainer that he is NOT upset. Fox should be reprimanded for such shoddy reporting.

  33. ShutTheBucUp Says:

It doesn’t matter. Some of these people seem hellbent on fanning the flames, Mike Florio in particular. He seems to have a hard-on for any spec of negative Bucs news, and tries to twist any rebuttal into more negative spin. What is his deal?
