$30 Seats Still Available For Home Opener

Joe’s not being a wiseass with the headline. Single game ticket sales opened for the Bucs today, exclusively for the home opener against the hated Saints, and a healthy supply of $30 seats remain available as of 5 p.m.
Ten years ago nobody would have believed such a phenomenon was possible in the football-crazed Tampa Bay area.
Yes, Joe knows well that fan habits have changed across the country. Gorging on food and beer on the couch with a laptop, i-Phone and a massive hi-def TV are now somehow more impressive than a great tailgate, live football, and viewing hundreds of scantily clad Bucs-loving hotties in and around the stadium on Dale Mabry Highway.
Joe is simply posting this now as a public service to Bucs fans who may not realize they can still score a cheap ticket to a great football game and scene. It should be pretty darn electric when (if?) Darrelle Revis breaks up his first pass for the home fans. You can browse available seats at Ticketmaster.com.

In NC now….come once a year for my birthday…..will probablly catch the Bills game this year. I am 14-2……Losses to Steelers a few years back and last year to the Skins (almost won).
I can tell you this, if I were in town I wouldn’t miss a game. I didn’t miss one in 1976 (lost them all)so no reason to miss one now.

Already got season tix. Those are very cheap as well. Start at about $300. Let’s sell these games out this year.

In Colorado, but hoping to be there in a year or two. Will get my season tix then and never miss a game live (although if still not selling out, may have to get the NFL Replay to satisfy my summer review needs).

Lame town. Even with all the excuses, we’re still worse than other markets, and we’ve got more tradition than any other team in town. Clearwater game-goer since 1980.

I remember paying I think a whopping $6.00 to go to a Bears-Bucs game in 1977. Walter Payton scored the only TD in that game, and high-fived me over the end zone wall. Memories.
I was too young to drink then, but I’m guessing the beers were pretty cheap too.

Wow. $30 in today’s money is nothing. If I still lived in Florida, there’s no way I would not be at that game.

Already got my season tickets! Hoping Bucs fans jump on those available tickets! Only thing worse than hearin that damn “Who Dat” chant the entire game, is hearing it on the way to the parking lot if the Saints win! So many painful walks to the car last year!!

…but as soon as you have affordable tickets, the next complaint on the list from the fair-weather, phony-baloneys is “concession prices.”

I am thinking Joe should challenge Myron Lewis to a round of Golf with the loser parking cars for Charity on a game day. Lewis WILL have his Sunday’s free and a little exercise prior to the game would do Joe some good; I’d bet. Just saying… I can’t think of two more horrible ways to spend an afternoon – watching Myron Lewis cover receivers or playing a round of summer golf mid afternoon.

Concession prices can put a huge damper on those of us who cant afford much past the ticket price. Thats why my girl and I dont go to movies anymore….and thats why I avoid drinking at concerts anymore (the rare times I do go) They charge $10 for a 24oz. beer? Not gonna get me, Im not participating in that price gouging. I’ll catch the movies later on the internet and stay sober at the concert.

There’s really no excuse for people in the area anymore. Wish some of you out of towners could make it. I’ve never missed a Bucs home game. Too many transplants here are front runners and only want to go if it’s the place to be seen. Or when times get tough they revert back to their “hometown” team.

The Bucs made a mistake by letting blackouts happen.
They need to ensure sell outs… why? So they can re-create demand. When there is demand, people want the product, and the will buy the tickets… or at least show up and fill the seats by buying the tockets from the scalpers.
With no demand, people take for granted the product.
So the Bucs need to buy the tickets again and then sell the rest to the scalpers a week before the game.
The scapers then dessiminate the tickets to the tailgaters who have no tickets.
It would be like the old days again. You show up at the party house, drink beer from the truck and find tickets.

Got my season Tix, though it was THAT close last year…if the price if my 4 seats hadn’t dropped 1000$ I couldn’t have done it. Still down there this year, so managed it again. Looks like it’s gonna be year to year for me, but that 33% drop in cost was huge , for me. One reason I never call the Glazers cheap.

I usually dont Pete. But I will complain about the prices of them. I dont even know what the prices are like at RayJay. But I figure if they’re like movie concessions and other sporting event concessions, they’re probably high. Trust me though, if I lived near Tampa, I would def make it to 3 or 4 games a year.

If they could get a bus to take you to and from Tampa from St. Pete, they’d have a lot more fans at the game. I’ve been to games in other NFL cities where they do this. I’d gladly pay 30 bucks to ride a bus rather than have to drive myself over in my truck, pay for parking (usually 20 bucks) plus gas, and have to sit in traffic for an hour and a half after the game is over.

Hey I just bought my first season tickets ever, after being a fan for about 25 years now. I have a question that I can’t find the answer to on the net. Does anyone know how well season ticket sales have been doing this year?I mean is there an actual number out there that I can find. Because signing Goldson and Revis was the clincher for me. Wonder how many other people did the same thing.

The Bucs don’t release ticket sales numbers and please let Joe give you some friendly advice: Do not use Ticketmaster as source for ticket sales. It is as inaccurate and unofficial as one of the hand readers on Madeira Beach.
