Project Revis: Gear Three

May 22nd, 2013

Part Two of “Project Revis,” a series of NFL Network video reports with exclusive behind the scenes access at One Buc Palace, continued to document Bucs cornerback Darrelle Revis rehabilitate from a knee injury.

Revis is seen here doing agility drills on the Bucs’ practice fields with tackling dummies to hone his footwork.

Bucs director of sports medicine and performance Todd Toriscelli noted that most athletes he works with have four gears from zero to full sprint. But Revis, he said, is so fast he has five gears. Toriscelli tells NFL Network’s Andrea Kremer that Revis is running and working in third gear at this point in his rehab.

I am really psyched about this guy. I have to admit, I had reservations on getting him. His contract is what won me over. Even though it is REALLY high, the no guarantees element says a lot…and it protects the Bucs from cap hell later. As long as they start training a replacement by next year.

    Dude is a beast!

Revis will take us to the playoffs.

  3. Joc Says:

His limp scares me. Don’t think he will be ready week one

  4. big007hed Says:

I didn’t see a limp at all. He looked fluid and strong. I think he will be ready for Week 1 and possibly preseason but he wont play in preseason. This secondary is going to be sick (in a good way not sick like last years).

  5. Dylan Says:

Lol he has no limp, is it his swag walk, alot of nfl players walk like that. I remember watching aqib walk in training camp his was worse. Darrelle revis was my fav player in the nfl not on the bucs. Anyone who has doubts just watch this man ball out. Easily best defensive player in the nfl. I love his confidence. Sh*t his contract shows how confident he is in himself. He will get every penny he is that good.

  6. Dylan Says:

I just can’t wait to see revis SIT DOWN Julio jones.. All I wanna see in life

  7. TBSwarm Says:

That hat looks good on him 🙂

  8. Capt. Tim Says:

Still hard to believe that we have 3 of the best defensive players in the league.
Goldson, McCoy, and Revis all may be the very best in the league at their position. I’m hoping Clayborn and Bowers are both mentioned among the great DEs very soon.

Banks is going to be a major swing player. If he can play good defense as a rookie- then we will make major steps as a defense.
If he struggles, then it will still leave offenses a place to attack.
I think he will be a huge improvement- even as a rookie.

Could make this defense fun to watch

not trying to start no sh*t right now. but this roster we have right NOW, is by far the most confident ive ever felt in my bucs since 2002. maybe even more confident cause NOTHING i mean NOTHING against my fav throwback boys.. sapp,brooks,lynch.. but revis can go down at the best CB of all time and simply having him on our team is unreal. let alone adding in my opinion and ill glady debate with anyone by far the best saftey in the NFL dashon goldson. and also! the clone of him, mark barron, we got coming up… like revis said, its sunny all day everyday in tampa. its mind boggling we got the best CB in the league entering his prime, and the best saftey in the league… in his prime… ill give jariues byrd a close #1B.

  10. Saskbuco Says:

Very cool video, on a side question from WAY OUT IN LEFT FIELD, does anyone know where to get a BUCS hat like the one Revis is wearing?? It’s unreal, super nice. Thanks in advance if anyone knows, hard to find BUCS gear in the great white north up here, thanks.

It’s comments like Joc that make me understand how insane the world is. We all saw the same video; and at no point did Revis “limp” yet that’s all he apparently saw in that video. WOW! The thing people also keep forgetting he has another 3 1/2 months to rehab, get stronger, and get back to game speed. We aren’t even close to week 1 and Revis is already looking like he’s rounding into shape.

    +++++++++++++++

Yeah, Dylan, but the throwback boys could rush the passer better than most in NFL history (sack stats do NOT back that up-other than the consecutive games with a sack mark, but the all-time best QB Rating against of under 48 does) while these guys have tons to prove.

I’d still rather have a couple pass rushing monsters and be able to play zone with our DBs’ eyes on the QB and get sacks and interceptions… but if we’re going to play man, who better than Revis?

  13. Brandon Says:

Iin Revis’ defense. I know, I’ve seen, I don’t care about his limp. It is very possible that his limp is psychological. Many people recovering from major injuries limp on the injured limb long after it is completely healed because they were so used to doing so while injured or because they are subconsciously favoring it. That being said, he should not be limping on the limb as favoring one side over the other often leads to different injuries (hip, other knee, ankle, back) and hopefully his limp, which I know nothing of, will be gone soon.

  14. MARK Says:

Saskbuco, you can find that exact hat on http://www.footballfanatics.com for around $26.

  15. Matthew Says:

For those asking about Revis’s hat; it’s a:

Tampa Bay Buccaneers Mitchell & Ness Throwback Script 2 Tone Adjustable Snapback Hat

It’s available at FansEdge for $18.95

  16. BucsFan007 Says:

I watched the video twice, ….. & NOW I have to go back & check for a hat & a limp …… doggone it!

  19. Eric Says:
