“Dunderhead” To D.C.; Geno Hayes To Jaguars

March 14th, 2013

No lover of snap counts, longtime Bucs right tackle Jeremy Trueblood has moved on. He’ll compete for a starting gig with the Redskins, so reports the Washington Post.

One of the funnier media moments this millennium went down when a Sarasota Herald-Tribune editor tried to secretly blast Trueblood, labeling him “Team Dunderhead,” but it didn’t slip past Joe.

Trueblood will always be remembered for his false starts and general underachievement. His finest move might have been fleecing the Bucs for $4 million last season.

In other ex-Buccaneer movement, Geno Tase-Me-If-You-Can Hayes has signed with the Jaguars. It’s Hayes’ third team in three years. He’s still just 25 years old.

Is it just me or does it seem like an unusual amount of our castoffs seem to end up in washington?

  2. raphael Says:

Geno Hayes : looks like Tarzan , plays like Jane …

  3. 4everBucsFan Says:

KC signed Sean Smith, and they picked him up with the Budweiser Clydesdales

  4. Jrock Says:

Silence – Bruce Allen is the GM up there. He’s our old GM and personally oversaw many of the player acquisitions that we are now “casting off”, so it would make sense that he would want the players that he helped sign on his new team.

Then there’s Raheem, our old head coach who’s their secondary coach now… he’s worked personally with all these guys. I’m sure his input goes into the decisions as well..

  5. Andrew 1 Says:

shocking given the fact that Bruce Allen is there general manager.

  6. Andrew 1 Says:

jeez man I cant believe we are letting all the good CB get away…if we dont get one we are very very stupid.

  7. raphael Says:

    or very smart ^^^

  8. Jordon Says:

Just read that K.C. signed Sean Smith…I hope all this Revis stuff hasn’t cost us a chance to get one of the other DB’s we were looking for.

  9. Pete 422 Says:

Still CBs out there. Cary Williams, Mike Jenkins anybody?

Maybe a RT that is a good run blocker?

  10. 4everBucsFan Says:

Brent Grimes will re-sign with Atlanta Falcons

  11. FLBoyInDallas Says:

Now it’s Sean Smith, Derek Cox, Greg Toler, DRC gone. Man, if the Bucs can’t wrap up the Revis trade the CB leftovers are getting eaten up quick. There’s no way in the world the Bucs can fail to upgrade the CB position with AT LEAST one free agent. Minimum.

I hope Dominik isn’t getting played by Idzik and backed into a corner (no pun intended).

  12. T in Orlando Says:

With Smith off the board, I wouldn’t mind us go after Cary Williams. Solid Tackler, and has the chip on his shoulder attitude you’d like to see.

I’m curious to see what Smith signed for.

  13. 4everBucsFan Says:

    The Bears signed M. Bennett..

  14. Andrew 1 Says:

    @ raphael

how in the heck would that be “very smart” when we are in dire need of one?

  15. 4everBucsFan Says:

Philly bidding war with Detroit for Cary Williams

  16. 4everBucsFan Says:

    Mike Jenkins is in Jacksonville

  17. cbell96825 Says:

Im telling you all revis will be a buc by the weekend were only team rumored to be interested.also with all these other cbs dropping like flys ie cox, smith, toler, powers were going to get a corner dom and schiano know they have to. Were not jumping at theses other guys bc we know revis is coming to town.

  18. 4everBucsFan Says:

    Michael Bennett headed to Miami

  19. 4everBucsFan Says:

Atlanta rumored to also have submitted a trade proposal to Jets, but they have pick #30 first round.

  20. Pete 422 Says:

If Dom wanted any of those guys, I think he would have flown them in & signed them by now.

I am a bit surprised they didn’t sign Bennett given the market, but that tells me they are going DE in the draft.

  21. 4everBucsFan Says:

    Saints sign CB Keenan Lewis

  22. Macabee Says:

I don’t feel bad about missing out on Sean Smith or some of the other CBs taken already. With the time passing in 1st tier FA, what was the restructure of Jackson and Nicks for? Surely not in anticipation of the Revis deal.

If after Goldson, we’re just going to focus on acquiring depth like Casillas in FA, and they’re depending on the draft to fix the secondary and make a run for the playoffs, in my opinion is a bad strategy.

I’ll be patient and wait and see but I’m getting the yips again! lol

  23. ShutTheBucUp Says:

They clearly have a plan. If they wanted an available CB badly, they would have signed them already as they did Goldson. They know more than we do, so best to sit tight and watch things completely unfold before getting all girly.

  24. 4everBucsFan Says:

Brent Grimes is still on the table

  25. Snook Says:

Bruce Allen is a douche fart. So is Raheem. Glad those two fools are out of Tampa

  26. Snook Says:

    I hope they sign Talib.

Shanahan takes 1 step forward. Morris will alway bring them 2 steps back.

What a moron that guy is.

  27. ben Says:

Maybe ronde can come back at corner too, even if he has lost a step he has plenty of help over the top now. He sisnt look like he lost a step to me on those int returns last year

  28. robert Says:

can’t believe we have not signed a corner yet. we need more than 1!!!!

and they don’t even know if they’ll get revis. dom is blowing it on this one..

  29. RCH Says:

Looks like it’s time to start focusing on the draft

  30. RCH Says:

I don’t think Revis has anything to do with our FA shopping. I think its a matter of the front office content to start Bowers and Claiborne and don’t think highly of the FA CB’s

  31. the_buc_realist Says:

i hope TrueBlood can tell us what the playoffs look like up there.

5 years and counting for the lasting contender

  32. BucFan20 Says:

And on the 4th Monday of this week we still have not heard anything from Barber.

  33. Pete 422 Says:

Maybe sign Jammer & draft a guy.

  34. Macabee Says:

KC got Sean Smith for 6mil/yr. Obviously we didn’t want him and neither did Miami.

  35. ElioT Says:

It’s Clayborn for f***s sake! Why can’t anyone get his last name right?

  36. 4everBucsFan Says:

We’ve been needing 2 starting cover cornerbacks since the beginning of last year, and we still have none. Maybe Barron and Goldson can do it all.

  37. ben Says:

Wouldnt mind us going after dumerville when he is released

  38. BucFan20 Says:

With all this get a CB in the draft talk. Is there one that can come in and be an impact player now like Barron, David and Martin that will be there at our pick?

  39. Patrick in NOVA Says:

STBU – Couldn’t agree more. It seems that the last two years of smart plays in the draft and free agency would have people resting a little easier that this front office might have an idea about how this thing works. Let’s give them a few days to iron things out and then see how the draft goes before we kill them for what they’re doing.

As a Bucs fan living in the DC area I’ve seen too many times where the Redskins crush it in the offseason and flounder during the regular season. So, I’m perfectly content to make the right moves and not the splash moves.

  40. Macabee Says:

I’m guessing here but I think Schiano has slammed his fist on the table and one way or another, it’s going to be Revis. It also probably means we re-do the Wright contract and we get Trufant or Logan Ryan in the draft (2 guys he likes).

I don’t know at this point what else it could be!

  41. Gusjackson Says:

@BucFan20 Tyler Eifert. TE. This is why I would love for us to get Revis it would allow us to get a gamechanger like Eifert.

  42. ElioT Says:

We really need some help at CB. I like the Goldson signing but we need/needed at least two FA CBs IMO. With so many other needs (DE, DT, OT, TE) the Bucs can’t afford to rely on the draft to shore up the backfield.

I swear if they trot Eric Wright’s average a** out there on opening day at anything but a drastically reduced salary, I am going to lose my mind.

I wouldn’t mind Revis wearing Pewter and Gold depending on what we have to pay and give up draft wise. I would of rather had Cox and Smith, both for about the same price as Revis and both much better than Eric Wright.

Too many holes to fill and too little depth in the trenches right now.

    Come on Bucs!

  43. ElioT Says:

If they plan on taking a CB in the 1st round then you might as well trade the pick for Revis as he is leaps and bounds better then any CB available including Milliner who will be gone by #13 any way.

I think they plan on going after a DE, TE, DT or RT in the first. Much more upside in those positions in Rd 1 than at CB, and that’s why they don’t want to give up the pick.

Re-signing Bennett or Miller would be huge along with two FA CBs if we don’t get Revis. You get rid of Wright and then Dom can work his magic in the draft. With all our picks intact we could end up trading into the first again and scoring some quality day on starters.

    Go Bucs!

  44. Vic66 Says:

We have let all the other CB slip through our fingers. We can’t just depend on the draft. This on has me concerned.

  45. NJBucsFan Says:

Williams is off the board, Eagles…Falcons nabbed Steven Jackson too

  46. 4everBucsFan Says:

Only 2 CBs worth a damn are left. Revis and Grimes

  47. Dan Says:

you people need to get a job

  48. ShayneGoodfellow Says:

Great start to FA with Goldson, but recently it has F-ING SUCKED. Dominik signs a LB that is very injury prone, where is a CB pick up? at this point with C.Williams and K.Lewis gone we pretty much have to trade for Revis, Jets probaly know the CB market is pretty much gone so they will probably convince Dominik to give this years first. FFS

  49. Robbie_G Says:

I wonder as well, with all these good( not great) corners going at below market prices GET ONE!!! ALL of them are better then any we have or had on the team alst season. I know they have a plan, I just don’t like them all in on Revis.

  50. Macabee Says:

    Robbie,

According to PFF, E.J. Biggers is the best of the rest and I’m excluding Talib and Asomugha. It’s now Revis and/or the draft! Go figure!

  51. Vic66 Says:

Mr Oboma can you pass out some of your free condoms , I’m beginning to believed we’re F@@@@ed!

  52. Pete 422 Says:

Grimes would be nice at this point, but it seems more likely that Revis will be a Buc. I just hope there are conditions in the trade.

  53. teacherman777 Says:

    I understand Dom’s thinking.

    Cary Williams wouldve been great.

Hes a hard hitter and plays mad. But hes 28. So…..

I am very happy we didnt sign Sean Smith! He sucks!

I like the idea of Antoine Winfield as a run stopping CB.

I like the idea of Grimes. His hero is Ronde.

And I like the idea of drafting 2 FAST, young corners.

Dont worry guys. Dashin Goldson was a great signing.

He will help make our corners better.

    Now if we can Revis?

    Mannnnnnn…..

    So dope!

Dont worry about his knee…hell be fine….

    Go Bucs!

  54. SirustheVirus Says:

Love the Pix of TrueBlood!! He may not be a good RT, but that is a big boy and that ref looks scared lol

  55. BuccaneerBonzai Says:

Bucs have horrible luck with RTs. Walker…Trueblood…the list goes on. Best idea is to trade for one or get one in FA…because we can’t draft a good one.

  56. Paul Says:

    He’s Badblood now: http://www.realredskins.com/rich-tandlers-real-redsk/2013/03/trueblood-takes-a-shot-at-some-bucs-fans-on-the-way-out.html
