Morning Cup Of Joe

February 6th, 2013

Start your day with the Morning Cup of Joe from And don’t forget to visit for amazing videos, pictures and cool gifts. It’s Joe’s second favorite website.

Bucs news forthcoming.

It is national Signing Day. Joe knows a lot of people hate recruiting talk and Joe understands but doesn’t buy the hate. But what Joe loathes is how recruiting writers — much less the kids who use schools and reporters — don’t understand simple vocabulary. “Commit,” the verb, means you promise. There is no such word as “decommit.” That made-up word is just a nice way of saying a recruit was lying. Rather than constantly misuse the word “commit,” use the word “pledge.” Until a kid puts his signature on a letter of intent, Joe doesn’t give a damn what the kid says or where he “commits.” The reporters who cover that realm who misuse that word are the ones who need to be committed. So Gus Johnson is going to be a kickball announcer? So long as it keeps Johnson away from a football broadcast booth, Joe is all for it. [SI]
