Bowers Posts Bail; Next Court Date Is April 11

February 18th, 2013

Joe’s exploration of New York public records reveals that Da’Quan Bowers has posted bond and was released from jail this evening following the felony weapons possession charge slapped on him this morning.

His next court date is April 11, right around the time the Bucs will report back to One Buc Palace and begin their offseason program. Per Joe’s chat with a Manhattan defense attorney, Bowers likely will have to be present for all of his court appearances.

And now Bennett will ask for 10x more lol

Na, this doesnt look as bad for Bowers as it did at first. He could still be in trouble some, but its not like he was trying to smuggle it. Dont get me wrong, the DA could throw the book at him, but probably wont….at least I hope.

So he showed up at the airport, to snitch on himself? He should be cut tomorrow…

Joe, the million dollar question everyone is waiting to hear..Did Bowers have the gun registered in his name? Im still so surprised Bowers did this. You woulda though a guy who fought through two major injuries and dedicated himself so much to football wouldnt be dumb enough to make this kind of mistake…then again its the nfl. Most of the guys playing any position other than QB are more gifted physically than mentally.

This is a serious charge, but only as serious as the DA wants it to be. He has wide latitude to do a number of things depending on factors Joe has already outlined. This happens frequently and there is precedence for travelers coming from other states legally and upon landing in NY is already guilty of a 3rd degree felony.

Especially coming from the state of Texas where it’s a crime not to carry a gun! (just kidding Texans). Bowers cannot plead not guilty because he voluntarily assured his guilt when he notified the authorities of the presence of the gun.

Bowers is in a good position to have the DA consider a lesser charge – a benefit that Talib assuredly would not get. This will be a harsh lesson learned, but one that I predict he survives due to the leniency of the Queens DA. The retention of counsel that has standing with the Queens DA is essential. This is NY, he will not get out of this without leaving some serious money in the borough!

Yeah you know Bennetts agents head perked up a lil bit. Cmon daquan. Sail on superstar! What happened to that?

Hopefully he had all the right paperwork here in Florida and gets off on this.

Still stupid to carry a gun when flying without doing your homework on carry a weapon across state lines or CWP laws in other states.

All he needs is on this webpage: “Right Away Vail Bonds” to get him out, “Paradise Limo” to pick him up from jail, “Brett MetCalf Law” to respresent him and “Instant Check Mate” to remove his mughshot from the web. Your sponsors really speak to your target audience Joe!

Why carry a freakin gun anyway. If your a rich NFL player the only reason to carry a gun.Is because you plan on going somewhere that you might need it.If I was in his positiion I’d bring a friend (pay his way)in exchange the friend bring’s his gun. Then the friend assumes the risk.Let’s face it these guy’s have friend’s that use them for their money.I’d have no problem telling my mooch buddy that he is responsible for either staying sober.Or finding a sober driver to get me home.Or carry his legal gun, weed,HGH or whatever. That’s what mooch friend’s are for.
