Enough About “Miscommunication”

December 16th, 2012

Was it “miscommunication” that caused this potential touchdown pass to sail over Mike Williams’ reach?

Joe has heard it during the game and now afterwards on the Bucs postgame show. Josh Freeman is having miscommunications with the receivers.

BALONEY! (Joe wants to use a stronger word).

What week is this in the NFL season, Week 15? And the quarterback and the receivers are not on the same page? That is completely and totally unacceptable!

For this excuse to be used on a professional in the midst of the team’s 14th game is outrageous and tells Joe there is something very wrong in the team’s passing game aside from Josh Freeman’s ugly statistics.

Given the fact there are two Pro Bowlers and one damned-good No. 2 receiver within the receiving corps, Joe’s going to make a wild guess that Dallas Clark and Vincent Jackson are not the ones with the miscommunication issues.

A high school quarterback would be ridiculed for miscommunication issues late in the season, so should an NFL quarterback, much less high school wide receivers.

    snore with the hyperbole again.

Former NFL WR Amani Toomer said on SiriusXM NFL Radio that “After week 4…there should NEVER be ANY miscommunication”.

Gosh says ” well uhh, we just could’nt uhh, I’m not quite sure what uhh, we will have to look at the tape and see what uhh. I was off my game again uhh. Just couldn’t get my rhythm uhh.” Holy crap! Enough. Admit we missed on Gosh and draft a qb with a plus 100 IQ and accuracy. Go Bucs!

  4. Red86 Says:

It Miscommuincation when Freeman try to anticipated where the Wr will be during a zone blitz then get pick off. It’s Miscommunication on the clarks lack of effort to catch the ball. Yes Freeman didn’t play well. But let’s be real. Pressure on any qb would make the best look bad. I can’t remember how many time I heard will Smith name during this game or how zone blitz lead to three and out.

  5. FLBoyInDallas Says:

Freeman is NOT who we hoped he was. Period.

  6. Greg Says:

    It makes me sick
I am A season ticket holder that willnot be at next weeks game and willnot be a season pass holder next year.

  7. MadMax Says:

Im going to communicate my choice for our next #1 pick….EJ Manuel or Geno Smith. Then the best corner available. And if DJ Swearinger is still available in the 3rd round, get him!

  8. TONY850 Says:

I just wonder if our pass offense can even beat our secondary. This was just abysmal, i quite watching after the first interception in the 2nd half. I really don’t know what goes on in freeman’s head sometimes.

I have yet to see a complete game from him. I think he tries too hard to be good at one thing, right now that is stay in the pocket rather than scramble and help his receivers out.

This game was just horrible. I also really don’t understand why we haven’t utilize BLOUNT!!!!!!! He can run the damn ball put him out in the damn flats if you don’t want him pass blocking. This is a TWO BACK league now, Ware sucks which is why Coughlin let him go.

Dude I am a huge Nole fan and I wouldn’t want EJ has the Bucs QB, Josh Freeman 2.0, I promise you. Maybe Geno Smith but I don’t know too much about him.

  10. Greg Says:

It is time to cut our ties with Freeman.
The sooner we do it the better off we will be.

  11. MadMax Says:

@Tony…..so he went downhill that much? Im just thinking of who may be there and available. Even if we lose out, we’re probably going to be out of the top 10 or further down unless we trade up.

  12. Eric C Says:

Just watched the freeman press conference, “chalk this one up to Miscommunication” is(of course) what he said as well. Look, the dude has a terrible time putting the ball on receivers numbers, simple as that. When he needs to gun it in for a 6-12 yard pass, he either throws it at their shoes or sets them up for an ally-oop.. I don’t get it. Staff needs to set freeman up with some Eric Dickerson-like glasses, because he can’t hit anybody on the spot.

  13. TONY850 Says:

    @MadMax

Emanuel, Yes he did. He’s good and has the tools but just like Freeman, he tries too hard to be really good at one thing during a game.

I think Freeman needs another offseason like 2010 where he went with Drew Brees and worked out with him and gathered more knowledge.

At this point I really can’t defend Josh Freeman. We know the secondary is abysmal and every QB looks like a Pro Bowler and can pad up numbers to help with their paychecks, but some of those throws were just embarrassing.

  14. BucFan20 Says:

LAMO. This is as much BS as the secondary is the only one that lost the playoffs chances. These are the same receivers who ran proper routes with no problem. NOW they can’t do anything right. When they get open the ball is thrown into the stands. Williams twice would have scored. VJ has 2 defenders on him because he ran the wrong route and a pass is short hopped to him. Underwood gets open because he runs the wrong route and the ball is thrown 2yds short. It goes on and on game after game. Always some “Miscommunication”. He is Good against bad teams sometimes. Always bad against any team that puts pressure on him. This was the same team he threw for big points on. They just watched the film and like everyone else, found a way to put a little pressure on him. BUT, most of the time he had time.

This QB is almost comical when gets mad after a busted play. So pathetic.

  16. Tampa2 Says:

    EJ Manuel?!?! Oh Jesus Christ….

  17. jglazer Says:

Couldn’t have said it better Joe. How long will it take for Freeman to be on the same page? I’m really starting to get concerned about the Bucs signing this guy to a long term contract.

  18. PRBucFan Says:

A number 3 and sometimes a number 2 QB struggles making adjustments on field (such as if Vincent cuts it back up and gets drastically open SEEING that instead of throwing it to where CLEARLY he isn’t) not a number one QB.

  19. PRBucFan Says:

Or should I say consistently struggles.

  20. PRBucFan Says:

This isn’t madden where you can make all your receivers run perfect routes 100% of the time. Unlike in Madden WR’s in real life actually make adjustments and have to react to defenses. Why can’t Free do the same with his receivers??? Stifling question when you think about it.

  21. Brandon Says:

Sorry, but Dallas Clark is terrible and his lack of coming back to the ball has cost the team three interceptions this season. Once in Carolina, and twice today, interceptions were partly him to blame. He sucks and needs to be released.

  22. BucFan20 Says:

BS. How about your QB throwing it as far as it is intented. NOT under throw it!! Another one that just has to blame someome else. Guess Williams just didn’t run fast or far enough. oops. Just because the QB is under pressure does not mean receivers stop and come running back. Freeman DAMN near got Clark killed last week it was so far behind him. but he held on to the ball. Ya Clark sucks?? Freeman gets rattled and throws off target.

Freeman will be gone if not this year next.

  23. PRBucFan Says:

    Amen

It’s an all of the acove

    A. bad Q.B. play
    B. bad play calling be O.C.
    C. bad tight end play(spoiled by Payton manning)
    D. predictable offence

Problem is there probably isn’t a draft pick at Q.B. in round 1 that is going to be a magic fix and inless you can find a F.A. like New Orlean did with Breeze than your just tossing money and picks around like Seatle w/ Matt Flinn and Arizona w/ Kolb, look at Okland with Palmer and what they gave up. I’m not sure I wan’t to see Freeman next year but realy who else can we go with without being a carosell of Q.B.’s like the days of Chucky. Maybe if we can get Rogers Cromartie and a healthy D-line we wouldn’t have to rely on Free so much and be able to win games by only scoring 17-21pts and maybe shutting out some teams. Trust me im just as aggrevated with Freeman as everyone else, and I will blame him over saying the reicevers are running bad routes, but it’s more than just Freeman. If we had a defense like the glory days, Freeman is alot more servicable than Brad Johnson. B.J. had a magnificient year that year but was more than frustrating the years after the super bowl. I think Free can get it done when the teams not put on his shoulders and we stop calling him, and Gerald McCoy our franchise guys…Sapp,Brooks,Lynch,Barber,Rice,B.Kell,Booger,ect…..chain link, they couldn’t do ther job if they weren’t one piece, one unit.

  25. Celly Says:

This is what i’ll never understand…

…why is it that Eli got a pass so early in his career but Freeman can’t? Although, i may be in the vast minority, i believe in Freeman. I think what he REALLY needs is an older, reputable veteran that is willing to take the backseat role and help him with his development.

I seem to remember Eli having some guy named Warner backing him up, breathing on his neck, helping to keep his focus. lets not forget guys, even though he’s been in the league 4 years, he’s only 24 years old.
