Bucs 27, Panthers 21

November 18th, 2012

This Carolina stinker turned into one glorious rose.

The Bucs left no room for error in the fourth quarter, and it turned out they didn’t need any against the stinkin’ Panthers. Vincent Jackson earned his $11 million and change, and Josh Freeman channeled his 2010 wonderboy magic to pull a great finish and overtime dominance out of an otherwise ugly performance — and a horrendous theft job by the zebras.

Now 6-4, the Bucs are legitimately in the playoff hunt and conversation.

And that guy Doug Martin, well, by Joe’s math, the kid’s now a 1,000 yard rusher in just 10 games.

Stick with Joe through the night for so much more on this wild game.

    SPECIAL NOTE
As o today, Doug Martin has EXACTLY 1,000 yards rushing.

Pete, your “special note” was already in the post. –Joe

All I keep thinking about is the fact that we still get Atlanta twice. If we can somehow manage to win out, and they lose a game (I was hopin like crazy today) we win the division…

There is a god and he/she lives in Tampa Bay!!

    Nice wi Bucs!!!

This just in, Aqib Talib got beat twice in the same drive by Andrew Luck… and the final burn was for a TD. 🙂

Talib already a liability for the Pats.

FANTASTIC!! The O woke up just in time! Exciting win Bucs! Next weeks game is huge!

  6. Andrew Says:

WOOOOOOOOO. THAN YOU GOD. a mark of a good team is when they can still win when they should have lost the game. and that just what we did.

  7. Aldo Says:

i admit it, i thought we lost it, so many mistakes and all…. and after all they shut me up and play with so many balls and courage!!! amazing game

    .

Winning out will be hard. Let’s hope the Falcons lose a few games and we win at least one more than them. Atlanta has the easiest schedule in the NFL…that’s why they are winning. The Bucs can beat them if things click. The Bucs will have to play better than they did today.

AMAZING! down by 11 points with six minutes left to play, I thought we were almost definetely going to 5-5 considering 11 points in 6 minutes ON THE ROAD is extremely hard. Freeman makes up for his bad game and comes clutch when the game is winding down and then 3-3 for something like 42 yards on the overtime drive. Sitting at 6-4 right in the hunt for the playoffs, 2 more wins then last year and theres still 6 games left to play.. oh yeah and we have a ROOKIE head coach! Today was an ugly win, but a W is a W! GO BUCS

    wow, 1000 already for rundmc.

  13. terry4505 Says:

Wow wow wow… Literally cannot believe that just happened.

And Martin was in the end zone on the fumble

@ Pete, its your own fault for using IE, get firefox or Chrome !

Laughing my butt off reading the comments in the game day open thread when the bucks were down 21-13. Talking about how Freeman is a boy playing in a mans league or that Freeman needs a shrink because he is scared, or that he can’t make the big throws. Funny. Next thing you know, the scared crazy boy qb throws 2 tds and a 2 pt conversion after two long drives for the win.

So many people wanting to hate on freeman. Can we finally admit he is a good qb?

  16. Pete Dutchr Says:

Even IF Atlanta beats us twice (and I am not convinced they can) we could still win our 4 other games…making us 10-6.

  17. SteveK Says:

Both of Freeman’s throws to V-Jax were $$MONEY$$$!

I hope someone can ask Boomer Esaison how crow tastes?

  18. Pete 422 Says:

    Wow, what a game.

I didn’t read the previous threads, so I don’t know what has been said already, but it looked to me that Doug Martin had broken the plain of the goal line & that WAS a TD.

These are games that good teams win. I actually don’t think this game would have been close if it wasn’t for that pick 6 by Freeman. The momentum shift was amazing. However, those things happen and the Bucs pulled off an amazing come back.

Once the pass defense is fixed, this team can be amazing. I’m excited about this team.

  19. SteveK Says:

    @ Dutchboy,

Have hope. We can beat the Falcons. They are not *that* good..

  20. Patrick Says:

I see us splitting the series with ATL. It would be tough to beat them twice given they’ve only lost once this year.

  21. Pete 422 Says:

@Mikeck, excellent observation. Throws like that happen to every QB. I actually wasn’t overly concerned when that happened but the momentum shift was incredible. The team battled back.

  22. Jonny 3.3 Says:

I say game ball VINCENT JACKSON! He provided us all those plays when we had to catch up. Martin secured us the win once the scores were leveled however. So Joe, you are wrong on this my man.

  23. Have A Nice Day Says:

    Talib with a pick six!!!

  24. Miguel El Magnifico Says:

Talib just got a pick 6

  25. Have A Nice Day Says:

Heck of a run back too. From one side of the field to the other. That was electric.

  26. Bucky23 Says:

    aqib talib pick 6

  27. Have A Nice Day Says:

Man! Dallas Clark showed up big today, huh?

  28. espo Says:

Why the play by play on Talib? Boring.

Bucs overcome a screwjob and didn’t need a miracle but earned a victory! that’s what I’m talkin about!

  29. FLBoyInDallas Says:

    @Buc Fan #238

I wouldn’t celebrate about Talib so soon. He just had an INT and returned it 59 yards for a TD. Pats fans are loving him so far.

  30. snook Says:

People still use internet explorer? Wow.

  31. Mikeck Says:

Fine, they can have Talib. Probably get another game or two out of him before he gets suspended again. Everyone knows he is a good cb….it’s just that he has issues that the bucks didn’t want to deal with

  32. lurker Says:

    explorer is great!

  33. MOBucs Says:

    Karma’s a bitch huh Carolina!

  34. Biggun Says:

Ok I look at the the Martin so callled fumble 20 times slowmo frame by frame and I don’t get it… from either line judge camera’s you don’t see the ball out unitl after it breaks the plain so how the hell do the ref’s know to call it a fumble and touchback? I’ve seen several times in the past a ball carrier reachout to break plain and ball then comes out it’s still a TD…. I bet the Bucs get a letter from the officiating office they it was a bad call Thank God we won… I hate how many times we’ve been screwed on bad endzone calls over the years, I figured with a all scores reviewed this would curtail bad calls. So can someone explain why they called this when clearly the ball was not seen loose until it was completely in the endzone by a ref? I think they should have called a TD and let it be reviewed upstairs…. with the call they made the review was a turn over review because that’s what happened after breaking the plane of the endzone officials I think only rulled the turnover cause of the call on the field…. GO BUCS!!!!!!!!!

  35. Hawaiian Buc Says:

I also agree that it was a TD, but I’m not surprised by the call at all. We are in Carolina, and we are the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. I believe the league mandates that all close calls must go against us, despite there being video evidence to prove otherwise. But seriously, because it was called a fumble and there was no conclusive angle because the stupid videographer didn’t adjust his camera when the ref got in his way, they just stuck with the call on the field. Still a bad call in my opinion, as I think there was enough evidence to overturn. Glad it didn’t cost us the game.

  36. Biggun Says:

@Hawaiian I know I guess my question is The Official Review team what was they reviewing? The turn over or td or both what is the procedure for this kind of thing caus they have to review two things manditory change of possession and scoring play… seeing as the play was called a turn over that’s what they reviewed had the ref call td the fumble review wuld not matter they would have to concentrate on did the ball break the plane I think they could not do this cause of the call catch 22…

  37. Fritz50 Says:

    “they can have Talib”

I think this is one of those ‘good for all parties’ things. I think Coach had Aquib on the right track BUT he fell one too many times. Mayhap the Pats can get him straight, & more power to them. As for the fumble, I agree, but once thw zebras called a fumble on the field the replay officials hands were tied, there had to be clear & conclusive evidence to overturn, & I guess they just couldn’t see enough. Still & all, in My opinion, it’s really on the D, at that point, ’cause the Kitties only got the ball at their 20. It’s not like they turned it over at our end of the field.

  38. Bobby Says:

That’s why I wait to comment until the game is over most of the time. So many of the comments are lame knee jerk reactions that are just stupid. I was down on Freeman at the beginning of the year but since the bye week he has alleviated any doubts I had. They took the restraints off and he has been stellar. Matt Ryan threw 3 picks today. Think anyone cares? It’s all about the W.
