Bucs Moving Fast On Defensive Line

September 1st, 2012

The Bucs haved added Corvey Irvin to bolster the defensive line depth.

When the Bucs pulled Wallace Gilberry off the practice field earlier this afternoon to be cut (ouch, the NFL is cruel), the Bucs were darn thin on defensive line.

Gary Gibson and Daniel Te’o-Nesheim were the backups to Roy Miller and Gerald McCoy.

The leader of the New Schiano Order didn’t skirt the D-line depth issue today and made it clear that “we’re going to bring in some new bodies.”

And late this afternoon the Bucs signed Corvey Irvin, who was cut from the Jaguars. He played in four games during the 2011 season. Irvin was a third-round pick of the Panthers in 2009.

There’s a huge buzz of action at One Buc Palace, and look for practice squad and other signees later tonight.

Now let’s see how good they can sprint

    From Profootbaltalk.com:

The Buccaneers decided they needed some extra line help, and found it Saturday.

They claimed defensive tackle Corvey Irvin (Jaguars) and offensive linemen Julian Vandervelde (Eagles) and Cody Wallace (Texans), addressing some depth issues on both sides of the ball.

Since they had cut to 52 Friday, they only had to release two of their own, cutting defensive lineman Wallace Gilberry and guard Bradley Sowell, pulling them off the practice field.

Bucs coach Greg Schiano called his roster a “very fluid situation,” and more moves could come in the next few days.

Listening to Schiano’s press conference today you can tell he is the man running the show. Mark Dominik better have his big boy pants on cause the coach wants certin players and Mark better be ready to get them. Schiano is not screwing around either. I love it…

Heard they signed Bert Reed (WR from FSU) to practice squad as well.

  7. FlBoy84 Says:

Saw John Parker Wilson went with the Jags. No great loss there, as there are quite a few QB’s out there to add to the practice squad.

@Joe looks like we did another good trade. ESBN Adam Schefter reports
Seahawks waived TE Kellen Winslow, per league source.

  12. Jwayne Says:

Im still shocked they are not addressing the corner back situation with so many out there right now.Figured that and DL would be priority 1! Would like to see them take a look at cliff harris… And get underwood back on the roster!lol

  13. Rob Says:

Bucs signed LB J.K. Schaffer off the wire; formerly at Jax; played college ball at Cincinnati

Where the hells the plan for DT? this kid from Jax is fodder nothing on EJ or Okoye even with a bummed knee. As a fan im majorly concerned about the d line.
