Talib Draws A Crowd, Long-Term Offer

May 23rd, 2012

It’s still baffles Joe that Bill Belicheat had so much love for helmet-wielding, cabbie-slugging, Adderrall-popping, coach-cussing, referee-charging, pistol-friendly, granny-hassling, injury-prone Aqib Talib.

Jimminy Christmas! This new Boston Herald story even claims Talib turned down a long-term deal from the Patriots in favor of the one-year, $5.5 million contract he’s got now.

Talib drew a gaggle of reporters this week at Patriots practice and the video is below. Talib can’t remember what month it is and talks about conditioning and contracts like only he can. Yes, Joe’s salivating at the thought of Talib covering Vincent Jackson when the Bucs head to New England in September.

  1. Colb Says:

Joe, Talib was a great player for the Bucs, with the exception of a handful of games (i. e. last year vs Giants) and his suspensions. I wouldnt be surprised if Talib intercepted freeman when they play. There. I said it.

  2. Spencer Says:

That was just awful. Glad we let him go. Can’t wait to toast him for 3 TDs

  3. ben Says:

Jackson is the type of wr that Talib matches up well against, be careful what you wish for

  4. BIG SIR Says:

Actually no he doesnt. Talib can’t handle the big physical WR. (i.e. Owens, Terrell)

  5. Eric Says:

Does this diminish Bellichick’s glowing praise for Schiano?

    Nah, that’s lucid.

  6. Tim Says:

Talib will be put on M. Williams who he should be able to cover about 70% of the time. V.Jax will be covered by someone with a little more size and speed than Talib with help from a safety over top. Look for Crabtree (if he is our starting TE) or Ogletree (who should easily win the slot spot) to have a big game. I am not impressed with NE’s nickel / dime packages or their LBs.

  7. tampabaybucfan Says:

Good Riddance, Talib, we’ve got Myron!!!

  8. BucNasty Says:

That’s assuming Talib’s glass hips don’t break by then.

  9. Couch Fan Says:

Talib is a more injury prone Josh Freeman on the defense. Great Talent and shows flashes but is way to inconsistent to be a top player.

  10. Dreambig Says:

In only 6 starts last year, Lenard Johnson had better stats than Talib in Ints, tackles, passes defended and touchdowns. I wouldn’t be surprised if that continues. Talon was the most over rated player the Bucs ever had!

  11. ShutTheBucUp Says:

Say what you want about Talib, but his interviews are nonsensical and very entertaining.

  12. Being Ikkles Says:

whoa talib…….shouldnt he have been getting in shape all year, his job and his cash money homey depends on it i am guessing so he can try and make it rain in dem cabs

Your definition of “great” seems pretty liberal.

  14. stvcl Says:

Glad he’s someone else’s embarrassment now.

  15. Cdog Says:

Seriously I bet he finds a reason to get suspended for a couple of games he is bona fide knuckle head

  16. Max Says:

Hey Joe this video autoplays and it’s very annoying loading your page and hearing “letz du it” by talib before I scroll down to pause the video

  17. Curmudgeon Says:

NOt only does it autoplay, but it autoplays a friggin’ public relations spot for BP, which is just insulting.
