2012 NFL Draft Is Almost Here

April 26th, 2012

It’s almost time folks. Enjoy and try to make it to Joe’s draft party at Pete and Shorty’sin Pinellas Park.

Joe (and his good friend Justin Pawlowski of WQYK-AM 1010) will be there until the first round ends, probably at midnight.

  1. Colorado Buc Says:

The Jags want to trade up for Blackmon, if he is there at 5, we could add a 2nd round pick and get Kuechly or Barron. If the Bucs stay at five and don’t tip their hand it could prove to be a valuable spot to be. Blackmon will be gone at #6 to the Rams so Jags could get desperate!

  2. FuNkYxMuNkEy Says:

Saw that report as well about the Jags. That would be awesome and we could still get great talent at #7 and another 2nd to add as well!!! There is a small chance either Mo or Kalil could still be there at 7 too. Just depends. I think STL would take Mo if Blackmon is gone. And Minn is taking Kalil so probably not. But STL could go DL as well or even Michael Floyd. Who knows but its only an hour n 20 minutes away!!!!!!!!! I’M SO EXCITED!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  3. raphael Says:

wonder what number Trent will wear in pewter ?

  4. NJBucFan Says:

Sorry Raphael but you’ll have to get your T Rich jersey in that crap brown that Cleveland wears. Tampa is going to stockpile picks here. Too many reports about too many teams that want one of the guys left over when Minni takes Claiborne. Makes too much sense.

  5. canadianbuc Says:

    Anyone but Kalil!!!!!!

  6. NJBucsFan Says:

Browns just traded for #3. Bye bye T Rich. Thank god!!!

  7. ClayBURN94 Says:

Another great player the bucs will not be able to grab!! I.E. Calvin Johnson, Adrian Peterson. Unless we trade down with the Bills and get Keuckly I will be dissapointed.

  8. ASTOTTSMART! Says:

    It’s over before it started.

Here’s to a solid draft by Dominick. About to crack a cold one.

I’d like a mostly defense laden draft (trade back?) with a James/Miller type RB.

  9. SteveBucsFan Says:

Browns got scared. Thank god we won’t waste our pick on T Rich or give up a lot of picks to move up two spots to get him. Browns got fooled by the Vikings!

  10. Fear The Glow Says:

I don’t see why the Browns would jump in front of the Vikings for Richardson. They might be going after Claiborne.

  11. ALSTOTTSMART! Says:

If the Bills really want Kalil, I certainly would not mind trading back. I would love a Claiborne pick, but I’d rather restock the entire back 7.

    Not that anybody really cares
Here is my two cents on how the Bucs should draft just for the Fun of it…

    Round 1
Luke Kuechly – ILB – Boston College
Even if Richardson was there at five, you cannot ignore what has been the Bucs biggest weakness over the past few years? Stopping the run and getting gashed up the middle for big gains.
The Bucs Defense struggled against the run and even made third string running backs look like fantasy football studs. The Bucs have not been the same since Shelton Quarles was the stalwart in the Middle. Ruud was not the answer and the Rookie Foster is a Bit Small to stuff the Middle. The Bucs MIGHT have tried to address their MLB deficiency through Free Agency but were wise enough to not over pay for the talent that was available.
Kuechly is a NATURAL Middle Linebacker. His instincts are higher than his measurables. His Film supports his talent and he will allow last year’s pick of Mason Foster to live up to his expectations by allowing him to slide back over to HIS own natural position at weakside linebacker. Instant upgrade at two positions with one draft pick.

    Round 2
Doug Martin – RB – Boise State
Does anybody else think that this kid reminds them of Ray Rice (Rutgers’ Alum) or Warrick Dunn? Tough, Good Blocker, dependable Runner. Good Solid Player.

    Round 3
Brandon Taylor – SS – LSU
Solid in Pass and Run Support. I initially thought the hiring of LSU Secondary Coach was a hint the Bucs were leaning toward the CB M.Claiborne, but the logic would fit the same for Taylor. Familiarity in the Player/Coach relationship will pay dividends much sooner and translate to his much quicker transition to NFL Success.

    Round 5
Casey Hayward – CB – Vanderbilt
Here is to hoping that he falls this far. Some rate him as high as a high Third round pick. Great Cover Corner at Vandy.

    Round 6
John Oglesby – OT – Wisconsin
Have to admit I stole this from “What the Buc” but it looks better than “BPA”. Late round picks are harder for us who do not have the time to search EVERY NCAA player. Oglesby is a good Prospect with, again, familiarity with his future Bucs Position Coach (a Previous position Coach of his in College).

    Round 7
Joe Martinek – FB – Rutgers
Stole this one too – from “Pewter Report”. Lucky if I even watch the draft past Second Day coverage anyway. It will be on in the background or with Twitter Updates but geesh, the NFL Draft is really getting to be a big week-long event and too much for me to stay glued to for its entirety. Schiano has to fill the team with new blood, best to take somebody he is already familiar from Rutgers. FB is a spot that we could use some more depth.

TRADING DOWN in the First Round to acquire more picks…
If there becomes an interested party who want to jump up to the Bucs position at five in the first round and the Bucs only slide a bit to still be able to still pick up Kuechly, DO IT! Picking up a 2nd and a 4th would be ideal. Even if they only get a 2nd in this year’s draft and future picks next year, whoever the Bucs trade with will have a high second round pick to include in the package so easily you could pick up another much needed highly rated CB (plus a CB in Round 4 for depth) and still get D.Martin – RB.
But do not trade out of number five if you cannot GUARANTEE that Kuechly will be available.

  13. kevin kaos lane Says:

chill, we will trade down and get Kuechly

  14. Stevek Says:

Oh well, the price for T-Rich was very high.

Hope we can trade down and snatch Keuchly.

  15. ben Says:

    so much for keuchly, PUKE

  16. BucNeckid Says:

Choking on eating Crow right now,
Hoping that at least One of my picks come in.
Just verification of why i am an amateur at this.
    It sure is fun though.
C’Mon Dominik, make that day 3 trade for Joe Martinek for me.
