Future Cloudy For Kyle Moore

December 1st, 2010

Joe would be flabbergasted if the Bucs don’t target a top pass rushing defensive end in free agency next year or draft one in the first or second rounds.

How could they not?

Kyle Moore, whose season ended yesterday when he went on injured reserve with a shoulder injury, has zero sacks over two seasons (15 games), has had work ethic issues and surely doesn’t seem to be better than 25-year-old Tim Crowder, another Mark Dominik waiver wire steal who has 6.5 sacks since joining the team in September 2009.

In Joe’s eyes, Moore is neither the present nor the future.

With durable veteran Stylez White (4.5 sacks in 2010) playing for a contract over the final five games, it’ll be interesting to see how it all shakes out at the position. If Stylez finishes strong, Joe suspects he’ll surely be back next season but likely competing for a job.

Justin Houston OLB/DE -Georgia. He’s the answer. but ha hasnt declared he’s going to enter the draft and still has one year eligibility left at georgia. so its not a concrete plan by any means. but 11&1/2 sacks in a season commands attention. Bucs should atleast entertain the idea should he decide to leave UGA and go pro.

    Joe,

This article is about a player on injured reserve. Did you get prior approval from Buc You to post something about a player who is not on the active roster?

  3. Hire Greg Olson! Says:

    d-money,

    lol

  4. Pete Dutcher Says:

White is not the present nor the future either, Joe. Simply put…he is a severe underachiever. The best he’s done is what? 6 sacks in a year?

Moore has produced nothing, so I can see labeling him as a bust. He’s also injury prone.

Technically, I suppose more is the first bust of this regime.

Joe knows you love to look at stats of scrubs. Joe’s not going to ruin his business model — Joe just set yet another record for traffic in November, thank you all! — just so two people can read stats of some guy from Northwest Cornfield State University. Joe’s not about minor league football. Joe does not care one bit about practice squad players. If and when they get on the field of play is when Joe begins to get excited, not before.

Joe literally has his hands full writing about topics the vast majority of Bucs fans are interested in.

To help ease your hunger pangs, Joe suggests you bookmark Rivals.com so you can read about all the stats from hangers-on and wannabes throughout the day when they actually did something on a football field.

As always, Joe’s about topics, not transactions.

Kyle Moore is garbage. He was garbage in college and he’s garbage now. Just about everyone of our DTs can also play LDE, and Crowder/Magee have already outplayed him…so Moore is as good as done in Tampa.

On the other end I think Stylez is done too mostly because of age. We have Bennett, Crowder, and I’m sure a new rookie pass rushing RDE next year.

  7. gitarlvr Says:

@Pete Dutcher- White has had an eight sack season as his career best. I shouldn’t have to tell you how much better that is than any of the current defensive ends. Stylez is by far the best DE on the team right now. McCoy playing at an elite level like he has started to do the last couple games is going to result in more production from Stylez. He should eclipse that eight sack mark if McCoy keeps on collapsing the pocket for him over the last five games. Being 31 years old is the only cause for concern for him. But he is cheap. Bennett and Crowder really don’t have the talent to even reach White’s level. They will never be anything more than rotational players. Im sure the Bucs will have Stylez starting alongside whoever they sign or draft at DE next year.

    Joe,

I think maybe my sarcasm was not as evident as I thought it was.

d-money I think Joe missed the haha moment in your statement… LOL

  10. gotbbucs Says:

stylez sure has tricked a lot of people into thinking he’s a good defensive end. i’ve sat and watched him for full series before and his effort on any play that isn’t a 3rd and long makes me sick. his motor sucks. at least its obvious crowder tries.

  11. Buc You Says:

Since we are at critiquing JBF’s content.

What is up with the flash advertising? I was looking and looking for Jenny Dell or someone, then I noticed it was an ad on in the right column. I was like okay cool, it’s at least about football… until the very end when she said that Reggie Bush might be able to play Thanksgiving day.

    Come on, that’s outdated Joe!

  12. tj Says:

Agree 100 J double, Kyle moore never impressed me at USC . Then for some reason he was gift wrapped the starting postion. Would love to see us get the Bowers kid from Clemson who has 15.5 sacks , just dont know if we would cause he might be a top 10 pick #2 he is rom CLemson and will get Gaines Adams comparisons

  13. derf Says:

Methinks Joe is a bit ‘touchy’ today….I GOT J-double’s humor

  14. derf Says:

    I meant d-money…sorry J-double 🙁

  15. derf Says:

So does that mean Moore is less????

  16. derf Says:

Hey Buc U – Now you’re complaining about the Ad’s on this site?

I’ll bet you had relatives that were with Moses in the dessert and when God brought manna from heaven they complained because there wasn’t any jelly!

  17. tj Says:

@ gitarlvr I gurranteed they are not resinging Styles who is the last year of his contract. First his lack of Production #2 He will be 32 next year

  18. Hire Greg Olson! Says:

I’d love to see us sign Lamar Woodley and Mannie Lawson in the offseason. Move Black to MLB (or draft an MLB) and draft a stud DE in the first round.

I’d have next year’s D looking like this:
    DE – Lawson
    DT – Price
    DT – McCoy
DE – Adrian Claiborne (Iowa)/Allen Bailey (Miami) Would probably have to trade up for Claiborne.

    WIL – Geno
    MLB – Black
    SAM – Woodley

  19. Buc you all Says:

@ Hire Greg Olsen Claiborne will drop to the 2nd round he had a horriable year

  20. Capt.Tim Says:

Think Greg Romeus is the pick. Hasnt played much this year, so is really talented while still under the radar

  21. christopher Says:

I think Moore comes back, simply because he’s under contract. Does he make the team over New Defensive End High Pick, Tim Crowder, & Michael Bennett? Dunno. Do teams keep 4 ends?
Crowder is your semi-long term LDE, imo. Remember, he was cut by the guy who might be losing his job because of his piss-poor personnel eye(Mr. McDaniels in Denver).

  22. BigMacAttack Says:

Trade Moore to his Daddy, PC in Seattle. Perfect fit.

  23. derf Says:

So sad that we’re discussing draft picks and not the upcoming game – well it WAS fun for awhile wasn’t it?

  24. Patrick Says:

    @BigMacAttack

I like your idea. Moore has been a complete waste of time. Ship him to the Seahawks. Pete Carroll gave Mike Williams (the other one) a chance this past offseason after he had already been labeled a bust by everyone around. I don’t know anything about the Seahawks D-line, but if it’s a weak area of the team, I’m sure he’ll give him a shot.

As for Stylez, he’s the most productive of our ends and is much better than Bennett. He’s not anything spectacular, but he’s decent. If we were to replace him with a better option next year, I still think we should keep him as a backup and let him be the veteran of the group.

What is so great about Bennett? He has 1 sack for the whole year. WHOHOO!!

White is 31 years old. As vet depth, it’s worth keeping him another year, but he should not be starting. Why?

Because we need to find a solution (2 actually) at DE, and we won’t find that while he is in the way. Pretty soon his injuries will start piling up. I really don’t care if NOT starting him costs us games because at least we’d know something better is coming down the road.

As to his sacks…they are far from impressive. By the time McCoy truly turns it on, White will be totally useless to us. That 8 sack number is a distant memory at this point. If he were younger? Say 27? I would be more willing to keep him, but he’s not.

I would rather see undrafted FAs come in and get shots then waste the spot on White. You watch…if he gets injured someone will float to the top.
