Three Picks In Three Games For Talib

October 10th, 2010

Aqib Talib has been living the feast-or-famine life of a cornerback in a big way in only three games following his suspension in Game 1.

Two weeks ago, Talib bobbled away an interception against Pittsburgh into the waiting hands of a Steelers’ receiver. Early in today’s theft victory of the Bengals, Talib was beaten handily by Terrell Owens on a 43-yard bomb. But Talib bounced back with two huge plays: a tough interception in traffic in the fourth quarter and a tipped ball that led to Sabby Piscitelli’s late-game heroics.

That ups Talib’s interception total to three on the season.

Cody Grimm said in a postgame interview on FOX-13 that he credits Talib forcing a tough throw for Carson Palmer on Sabby’s interception and said Talib’s earlier fourth-quarter pick was the result of him recognizing Cincinnati’s route. “He can’t get enough credit. He had the option to steal that, and he did,” Grimm said.

Grimm went on to say Raheem Morris was in the face of his prized secondary and “kept us cool” late in the game.

Last year, Talib had five interceptions at the halfway mark of the season. He finished with just five.

If Talib can elevate his game to fulfill his Pro Bowl potential — and the Bucs find a good pass rush — Joe’s confident Ronde Barber’s single-season record of 10 interceptions will be in jeopardy.

The Bucs tried every way they could to give this game away. The inexperienced really showed today. Spurlock was horrible on returns, even before the fumble. He and Sabby redeemed themselves. They pulled it out though on the back of Freeman. A nice win all in all. Saints lost and ATL gets another lucky win. I feel good about next week because the Bengals have a better D line and secondary than the Saints. I don’t know what Raheem is doing right, going to church, or has Angels flying around him, but it’s working. Carson Palmer throwing that last pick reminded me of the Saints screw up 2 years ago. Marvin Lewis is an idiot and gave the game away when OT was the worst case if he just ran the ball.

I was at the game joe I was in the end zone when TO scored gotta admit I tought it was going to be a repeat of the bills game for talib but he fought back. Lastly there are all kinds of bucs fans in ohio we were deep

  3. McBuc Says:

The Texans only gained 24 yards on the ground today? What happened to Ward? Did the Texans decide to not win or block too?

  4. BigMacAttack Says:

Alright TJ. Yeah nice to see the Bucs represented in the Big C. I saw pretty many Buc jerseys on TV when they showed everyone leaving the Stadium.

McBuc, ya beat me to it, LOL I had to laugh at DWard’s no show. The Texans had been averaging 170 yards a game rushing before D Ward came to town.

  6. TJ Says:

Our secondary made plays when we needed them but they were terrible in run support. That said they should not even be mentioned in run support the D-Line was not gap disciplined today giving Benson huge cut back lanes.Where was Ruud today? As smart as he is(Ruud)he has not been there to thump RBs.Ronde blows right by Palmer on a blitz.I’m glad we won! For a game after a Bye sure was sloppy.I guess that is how it looks when your playing a better team?Benn looked good in limited action except the one play where Freeman and him were not on the same page.Blount looked sluggish, except when he ran around trying to cut it back.It was nice to see Stroughter back in the slot!!!

What is the deal with Stylez? He has one move he never goes inside on the rush.He cant get to the QB from the outside anymore. Really hope they address this in the Draft.Cant wait to see what Steve White has to say.
I think Zuttah looked better at center than Faine has.I still wish that Dominik would make a trade for Mankins give us some O-Line depth.A third or a fourth rounder, were not going to get anyone better in the draft.

Strange. Quick review of the board and no comments from Thomas, Tampa2, RahDom, and Eric. What gives? 🙂

  11. BigMacAttack Says:

    Jester,
That’s a good call on Logan Mankins. I think Belichick might take Stovall in a trade as well with a latter pick. Mankins could teach our line a few things too. I also thought Zuttah played well at Center, and the offense wasn’t bad considering they lost Faine early. We all know what happened last year when Faine went down.

Ronde was excellent in run support, as usual. That dude is a lock for the HOF.
