“Shocked” If McCoy Not At Bucs Camp Saturday

July 30th, 2010

Joe believes it’s safe to write that Bucs general manager Mark Dominik was not at the Rays stirring win over the Yankmees tonight. Dude has been a busy guy.

First, the Donald Penn nightmare is over. And if NFL Network’s Jason La Canfora is to be believed, Bucs first round pick Gerald McCoy will be on the practice fields of One Buc Palace Saturday.

In a live interview late Friday night on NFL Network with the fetching Michelle Beisner, La Canfora talked about Sam Bradford’s crazy contract when Beisner asked La Canfora for an update on second overall pick Ndamukong Suh and third overall pick GMC.

Referring to GMC, La Canfora said, “I’d be shocked if McCoy is not [at Bucs training camp] Saturday.”

GMC has always said that he wanted to wait for his Oklahoma teammate Bradford to sign first before he inked a deal with the Bucs. Now that Bradford is signed, sealed and delivered, lets see how quick Dominik can get GMC to One Buc Palace.

This was very important for the Bucs to get Penn back. Now let’s hope nothing else goes awry.

Hopefully, like some experts believe, McCoy gets signed tomorrow.

Joe, how come you don’t publish the time underneath the date and title of your articles? I’m just making a suggestion. In a 24 hour news cycle, the time can be quite poignant.

The Bucs have had a good habit of signing their first round picks during recent years. There’s no reason to think that trend won’t continue.

I know that there’s a schism in bucs fandom as of late, but can everyone agree that the Bucs are headed in a positive direction? Eric, Mr. Lucky and others pose reasonable arguments against he competency of our coaching staff. No one can deny that. But I think, even with a coaching change in the next couple years, that the Bucs have taken great strides at rebuilding.

As much as I am supportive of the new regime and felt that Gruden’s time was up, I’m not sold on Raheem Morris. However, Mark Dominik, despite lying to the media about the ability to fine Penn, has done a great job as a young G.M. At times, even I wish Gruden was still the HC, Morris was DC and Dominik was G.M….

On the eve of training camp, I’d like to wish everyone a great football season.

    GO BUCS!!!!

    So Joe,
Know your also a big Halen fan. Do you prefer Dave or Sammy! What are some of your favorites and did you make the reunion tour?

  4. Joe Says:

    forunlawfulcarnalknowledge:

    Roth of course!!!

Yes Joe caught the reunion tour in Tampa and Joe’s favorites are too long to list.

Joe has thought about a time stamp from time to time but Joe doesn’t see the importance on this blog. It’s not like Joe’s in competition with someone else to prove he gets stories up before others, and Joe has some suit of an editor breathing down his neck. Joe’s his own editor.

Yes, Joe does think the future with all the rookies — if they pan out — could be something. Just not this year. Whenever next season is played, perhaps.

Van Halen, true story. When they recently played in concert, back up studio musicians were behind the curtain/scenes to play along and fill in for the Joke known as Wolfgang, to keep the band from sounding like crap. No fill in for Eddie or drummer, can’t hide those.

You guys might find this interesting. Apprently McCoys contract was pretty much done on Thursday. He requested that he sign after Bradford- Out of Respect for his teammate!! The Bucs had no problem with this, as long as McCoy was in Tampa this morning. Wow, this Guy seems like a class act! Last part of my “inside info”- Bucs have offered a contract to a Veteran OT( I believe it I’d Fl. Adams), and hope he sign by Monday. He should, but he has offers from several other teams, so it’s iffy. If not, the Bucs are still going to sign a Vet tackle(soon), and A Vet DE ( probably after last cuts) before season starts. They also may make a trade if the right player pops up! I hate to mention this, but a Penn trade isn’t “entirely” out of mind yet, either. This could( not likely) still be a sign and trade deal! Sorry. But I also want to wish everyone a great football season – everyone one of you! You guys are the most passionate folks I’ve ever talked to!! And thanks again, Joe, for absolutely the Best Buc site in the world! GO BUCS!!!

  8. Mr. Lucky Says:

FireGregOlson – Since you called me out with regards to my stance on Raheem I’ll answer.

YES, a resounding YES, I feel that the direction that the Bucs are in today, July 31, 2010 appears/looks/resembles a promising team with potential for wins IN THE FUTURE.

I’ve written before and I’ll repeat myself that in the NFL talent alone doesn’t win games. I believe that first and foremost coaching is what separates the perrenial winners from the perrenial losers, followed by team chemistry and talent. (yes there are more factors but those are my top 3)

Secondly I believe that Raheem Morris showed improvement once Jim Bates was relieved of command of the defense. I’ve never questioned coach Morris’s selection as DC under Gruden – NEVER. What I have ALWAYS said is that I feel his rise to HC was unwarrented and too quick.

Thirdly, Dominik has displayed flashes of brillance (Gaines Adams trade) but at the same time utter crises’s (Clayton contract). Overall I do like Dominik and feel he has done a better job than Bruce Allen, especially in terms of the draft.

Now what MY biggest problem is concerns the Kool-Aid drinkers of the world who in order to be a “fan” of something feel that you can NEVER point out what the deficiencies are and that if you do it makes you less of a fan. Not true in my eyes.

I believe that you can always have room for improvement so you have to be honest and look at your weaknesses in order to find the strenght’s.

This year’s biggest weakness, for the Bucs, in my lowly opinion, is the offensive coach – Greg Olson. I am happy to see that they got Freeman a QB coach, have solidified the line with resigning Penn and brought in WR’s as well. HOWEVER, without the right play calls it will be for nothing.

Same with the DL. McCoy and Price MIGHT be future Pro-Bowl players but until and unless they get the right coaching they will likely get their buts handed to them courtesy of the NFL.

So while I feel this team has potential I feel like it was gutted and I felt betrayed last year. There Mr. Lucky’s ramble for the day

  9. Bucnjim Says:

    Mr Lucky,

Actually a very good post! I wouldn’t call myself a kool aide drinker, but I’m very optimistic when it comes to the Bucs. God knows I have some negative things to say! Usually it involves Barrett Ruud, but I’ve decided to cut him some slack for now. Since it’s his contract year I’m really expecting him to step up and make some big plays. Anyway my point is your post makes a lot of sense and I don’t feel like I’ve killed 10,000 brain cells after reading it. (Like some other of these posts) Good job!

  10. Pete Dutcher Says:

    @Capt.Tim
I would be careful mentioning the use of “sources” if you are actually your own source. Just a friendly piece of advice.

PFT is reporting that Bradford is getting $50 Gauranteed. If this is the case, hopefully we’ll see McCoy signed quickly as well.

I’m thinking he SHOULD get around…$38 gauranteed? Does that sound close?

  11. MOBucs Says:

Capt.Tim… Who is your source regarding these tidbits of info? I’m not buying a sign and trade for Penn. He just got a 6 year extension. If he were going to be traded, he would have just signed his tender! Oh by the way, Flozell signed with the Steelers a couple days ago, so he’s not coming to Tampa! Hope we sign a couple more vets though! Also just heard McCoy just signed 5 year deal! Let’s get it boys!

  12. FIRE GREG OLSON! Says:

    Mr. Lucky,

I wasn’t “calling you out”. I was actually saying that you and Eric have strong arguments for your stances on the coaching staff.

  13. TJ Says:

    Mccoy just signed
