Boldin Gone; Marshall On The Move

March 6th, 2010

Sammie Stroughter is coming off a serious injury. Michael Clayton is coming off one good game. Maurice Stovall is coming off a career year (24 catches). And Mark Dominik doesn’t want to talk to unrestricted free agents.

Joe’s coming to the ugly realization that the Bucs are probably banking on a miracle rookie No. 1 receiver catching 50+ balls this season.

Adam Schefter, of BSPN.com, gives the latest in this video on Broncos wide receiver Brandon Marshall, who is touring in Seattle, which could sign him to an offer sheet.

And stud wide receiver Anquan Boldin was traded from the Cardinals along with a fifth-round draft pick on Friday to the Baltimore Ravens for a third- and fourth-round pick in 2010, per the Washington Post. The Ravens also turned around and signed Boldin to a fat, four-year deal.

I hope it happens, but the odds are pretty low of that happening. I think that’s called putting all your eggs in one basket — not wise.

So the Bucs are going to go in next year with 2 rookie WR’s? We need more than one, I stuck by this team through the entire season. The one once of hope I had was that Freeman looks good and that the BUCS would get him some targets. TRUST ME THEY HAVE NO PLAN!!! For the first time in my life I am really considering changing teams, there NOT even trying anymore, why NOT talk to some of these players? Is it going to hurt? WHO CARES!!!!!!

    3. Your a complete idiot Says:

If we draft a WR number one, who is going to be the other WR, Clayton? THe Ravens gave the Cards a 3 and a 4 for Boldin and a 5th round pick. Are you kidding me! The Bucs didn’t want to give up 2 picks, your getting a pick back in the deal. NOBODY in that 3rd round is better than Boldin. This will be Freeman’s first full season and you don’t want a veteran like Boldin, you want rookies and Clayton? Your complete idiots!!!!!!!!!!

    4. Eric Says:

Man it is just hard to believe that they would hang Freeman out to dry like that, after they have invested the teams future in him.

However AB ran his routes, he was the one playmaker the opposing team had to cover. That opened up K-2 having the really good year. Without a bona fide number one, with experience, they are going take Winslow out of our game plan.

As to Marshall, if Seattle is going to give a number one, that would take us out. We cant trade the third pick for the guy. Now, if we traded down, maybe. He would be a great addition.

      Therein lies the Bucs’ reluctance.
I think they are prepared to go into 2010 with Clayton, Stovall, Stroughter, Bradley, and a rookie or 2.

    6. Jon Says:

What do they think we(the fans)are thinking right now? Do they really think people are gonna buy tickets to see this team? We got our franchise QB, for what though? Even Joe Montana, and Peyton Manning needed atleast one WR who is actually a starter. Even if we draft a WR in the draft, who are we gonna pick that can help NOW? And sorry, but the only one that can is Dez Bryant, but 3rd overall is kinda high for receiver. They want fans to come, and believe in them, but how can we?

    7. gotbbucs Says:

I’m really kind of starting to feel bad for Josh Freeman. Here he is being challenged to be the face of this franchise and he’s really getting no help whatsoever from management. I’m sure he’s been told over and over again, “don’t worry, we’ll draft you a couple of receivers that can grow with you”. I really hope for Feeman’s sake that Dominik either has an ace up his sleave or a rabbit’s foot up his ass because it’s going to take some major work to get Freeman surrounded with talent if all they’re going to rely on is the draft. I’m crossing my fingers that somehow they can still get a proven #1 in there.

    8. Chucky Says:

      He he he he he….

      Miss me yet guys?

Heck I would’ve signed Jake Delhomme yesterday and gotten both Boldin and Coles to come to Tampa

      But NOOOOOOOOOOOOOooooooo

I hope you have fun thinking about me on Monday nights….

    9. MTM Says:

Honestly is anybody really shocked by the Bucs ownership anymore. Even sports radio, ESPN and Fox sports won’t bring them up unless forced too. They know the situation there is piss poor to say the least.

Raheem, Dominik and the Glazers will have a dog and pony show before the season starts. trying to reassure season ticket holders that they are doing all they can. Trying to spend money wisely, not waste picks on free agents.
Which is code for: We refuse to spend money on players to help this organization.
Mark my words this will be the year that makes or breaks this organization. If they fail miserably. Ownership will have pushed the diehard fans to far. Ticket sales will fall and talk of pulling out of Tampa Bay will be next.

Unless this is broadcast at the country club. The Glazers won’t see it. The only thing that will get the wealthy’s attention is losing profits. Money is all the know, breathe and dream about.

    12. RahDomDaBest Says:

How could we not give a 2nd for Boldin? A 3rd and a 4th is a steal. Dominick must NOT have been paying attention.

This group in charge is absolutely clueless… I was thinking Boldin was 1st round material like the rest of the RFA WRs… To me that’s the onl reason why they should not have tried… Or maybe they did try to trade and Boldin said no way. Maybe we will trade for Stallworth now… ha ha.

At least with Gruden and Allen we could impress free agents… The Bucs once were known to have a great organization… Now it’s so obvious that it’s in complete chaos… All while Rah and Dom gleefully boast how their 3-13 team is light years ahead of last year! LOL, are you kidding me???

    13. Tj Tillman Says:

Not being a player in the free agent market to me is the managment saying We had a good team last year and the draft picks will improve us drastically. I say to that Bullshit. These is what the a Glazers get for hiring inexperinced personal in Dominick and in Morris Hate to say it but if we win 6 games next year i will say that is a sucessful season
