Saints May Call Brooks “Saturday At The Earliest”

August 13th, 2009

As has been reported around the internet, Derrick Brooks left the Big Easy without a contract. Saints coach Sean Payton stated that wasn’t a reflection on Brooks but that the Saints are less than two days from playing a preseason game, per Jeff Duncan of the New Orleans Times-Picayune.

The Saints won’t decide what, if anything, they will do about either player until Saturday at the earliest.

Payton said both players “were in great shape” and that he didn’t expect contract issues with either player.

“I think that both players are hungry and looking for an opportunity,” Payton said.

How awful would it be to see Brooks wearing those hideous black and gold uniforms playing on the turf of the CITS?

Payton went on to say that if Brooks is signed, he wouldn’t be expected to start.
