Raheem’s Superfecta Of Receivers

May 26th, 2009

Michael Clayton is among four receivers impressing in practice, reports Rick Stroud of the St. Pete Times.

Last week Raheem The Dream told the world he has only four standout wide receiver performers in OTA camp, guys who are working hard and playing well. As for the other seven receivers in camp, who knows?

The Dream said the names of the top receivers would be revealed this week. Well, Rick Stroud of the St. Pete Times, who has adopted a refreshing edgy attitude with his recent work, is naming names.

Based on interviews with coach Raheem Morris and others during the first two weeks of workouts, if the Bucs played a game today, their four active receivers would likely be Antonio Bryant, Michael Clayton, rookie Sammie Stroughter and CFL refugee Kelly Campbell.

No wonder somebody in the organization reportedly telephoned ex- Giant Plaxico Burress.

The Dream should have more to say about these four receivers this week. But Joe’s just not seeing who’s going to replace Ike Hilliard’s reliability on third down, but it’s still very, very early.

Regarding Campbell, an overachieving undrafted member of the Vikings for three years before falling into trouble with guns and drugs, Joe promises to deliver a unique look at him on Wednesday or Thursday.

Stroughter will replace Hilliard and maybe, just maybe, Campbell has his head screwed on right and is a nice pick-up. I said maybe.
